For whatever reason, it seems harder and harder to find reliability in companies these days. It's almost as if the merits of "quality" and "care" either get swallowed up and diluted within larger corporations, or overshadowed by unprofessionalism in smaller companies. This is certainly not the case with Short Run Cards. Though not a large company, they nevertheless possess all the technical knowledge and expertise you'd expect from one, while retaining the ability to provide warm and reliable customer support on a near-personal level. They specialize in custom orders of plastic cards (picture a credit card) which can be used for promotions, personalized ID cards, or something similar. As alluded to in the company name, they allow for small orders of as little as 25, with a 48 hour turnaround. I speak from my own experience: earlier this year, my family needed to order some personalized plastic cards to distribute to guests at my mom's 60th birthday party. Since this was a rather momentous occasion, we wanted something that looked professional, so we turned to Short Run Cards. Our cards came on time, and were just the quality I was expecting. Jocelyn, Thanks for the message. Unfortunately, Rashida would not pass along my concerns or request to speak to you, any manager or production person. I called 7 times and begged her to speak to someone in production. It was apparent she did not know what she was talking about. I just wanted to speak to someone who did. Rashida would not transfer me, request anyone to call us back, nor allow anyone with the proper knowledge to get on the phone to chat with us. I called so many times, she stopped answering the phones, but not before she laughingly confirmed that I'll never speak to anyone else in the company. She said verbatum "I answer all calls, so you have to go through me". You guys wasted several weeks of our time, our clients' time and your staff's time because she was being a bratty hall monitor regarding our request to speak to a knowledgable person. One 30-second chat with a production manager or you could have saved everyone dozens of emails back and fourth, several phone calls, and almost a month of wasted time. As to your comment about our files not being setup properly. I'm glad you mentioned that, because we are a design studio and do this for a living. All day, every day. By the way, you're the ONLY short run card company that had issues with our files. I mentioned in my first post that I keep detailed records, so here we go. You better believe the first question we ask our print vendors is about their process and equipment, file submission and specs. Get real Jocelyn. In the link above you'll see that we sent files setup for Dye Sub process, because that's what we were told - by someone without a clue. You'll also notice in her apology, she states that YOUR printing technology was incapable of producing the job. It took a month for your crack-team to figure out you don't really do dye sub. It's really kind of sad. She attempted to provide instructions on how to setup our files? HA! I wish you could have heard Rashida talking print tech with our Creative Director - it was a conversation I would have loved to record. You can't be serious. Her attempt at asking us to adjust the file so you can try to run our job bush-league, different than what we spec'd, different from what the client wanted, and certainly opposite from what we were told in the beginning. Nice try. And just so we're all clear, you did pre-auth'd the card. Would you like me to share the emails where Rashida said our card was "never charged"? I'm sure you know how this works, but I'll explain just so everyone's clear. I saw a pending charge that I didn't authorize. I realize that a pre-auth does fall off after several days, but you know damn well that from the card holder's side, we cannot tell if it's a pre-auth or charge. Only the merchant side knows that. Nice try. You also know that a pre-auth holds funds and they are not accessible. Normally, as a new client, that would be fine, but I wasn't notified that you'd be doing that. Little rule of thumb: if you charge (or pre-auth) someone's card without them knowing about it - be prepared to catch some flak. I just realized I used the word "damn" above. I would like to preempt your next reply pointing out a curse word again. If your staff is offended that someone is so frustrated they have to ask "Do you pull this shit with everyone?", then maybe you should look for staff with tougher skin, or ones who know what they're talking about. Or just stop trying to make it look like we didn't setup our artwork correctly, or that I 'cursed' out Rashida in a vulgar manner. I can't imagine that this can be Short Run Cards fault. As a new customer just this year I have been treated as if I was their biggest and best client. I have never written a review for any of our vendors on Yelp or any other blog. I just felt I had the take the time to say my personal experiences have far exceeded any of my expectations. If you are considering doing business with them take a look ate their website and ordr processes and ask yourself how someone couls saqy bait and switch or any of the things I read in the one bad review. I have been a customer for Short Run Cards for a long time and they have never disappointed me. It is a simple way to order professional plastic cards without too much hassle. You can place your order on line and someone will get back to you shortly to confirm your order. I have been working with Rashida for the past few years and she is great to work with. She will design the card just the way you want it and when needed she will give you some professional art design tips to make your product even more attractive. Yes it does cost a little more if they do all the design but it is worth it. On the other hand, if you are a computer art person yourself, you can simply upload the correct size image and your cards will be on your way. You can even add sequential number or bar code on the card for easy tracking. In short, I give them a very positive review. I highly recommend their services and products. read more

It's been six months since we placed a large order of cards from Short Run Cards. The printing quality was decent, and the color was good. It took them two weeks longer than expected to ship and once we got them we noticed that the "mag stripes" are not even on the cards. It's printed black ink. We own our own encoder, thus selected the no encoding option. We could not encode the cards at all because there was no stripe on them. Customer service talked to me as if I was stupid and told me it was our equipment fault when we tested them with multiple different machines that have proven to work time and time again. I cannot ever get a rep on the phone because "the holiday season has overwhelmed them". It's almost march, get your business together. I do not recommend Short Run Cards or any other JS brand because of their lack of customer service. read more

Excellent customer service and product. The staff went above and beyond what was expected of them, even staying late on a holiday weekend to help resolve a problem that was not their responsibility. I am very impressed with this company!!! read more
