Stay away from Short's service ... just stay away. He began the repair of my (under warranty) Whirlpool fridge in August of '22... after two repair attempts he told me that he'd need to replace the whole compressor, and that he'd ordered one. In September, our Florida home was badly damaged by Ian, but I'd left the fridge accessable in our Minnesota home, and our roommate was there to take the call. But, Mr. Short, NEVER called, and wouldn't even return my calls(!). Upon our return from Florida in June, I tried again numerous times to contact Mr. Short - but he would NOT return my calls. In thinking back, this could be because he'd determined that my wife and I aren't Christians. In any case, he would not call me back. So I had to go back to Whirlpool, and beg them to reinstate my now expired warranty (which they did - good company). They again scheduled me with Short's Services, and guess what? He was a no-show. I'm now trying again (through Whirlpool) with another company. Bottom line ... Stay AWAY from Short's Service! read more

Awful man. Same song and dance as the other reviews. I scheduled a dryer repair through Whirlpool. The guy didn't bother to show up or call. Let alone return the calls I've made to him. It's been 5 days and still no return phone call. It's so frustrating and unprofessional. If you're not willing to be a stand up guy, get out of the business. People are depending on you and taking time off from work only to sit around all day because of a 9am-4pm window. How on earth is this man still in business with his disgusting work ethic. Avoid this guy like the plague. Our refrigerator broke under warranty. He came to take the first look two days after the original appointment. He ordered parts and 4 days after he received them (confirmed with whirlpool) he still hasn't even called to let us know what is going on or when he can come back out. Do yourself a huge favor and find a competent repair service (not this guy). 4+ months to fix an ice maker, still not fixed, and finally after multiple calls/emails/etc to Whirlpool and Home Depot (warranty repair), a different repair service has been dispatched. Ken does not answer the phone for weeks at a time, and messages are never returned. He never calls when parts come in, if he even remembers to order them. He didn't show up to scheduled appointments and on one of these days, he actually answered his phone when I called to see when he would be here and he claimed to have no record of the appointment. Absolutely maddening to deal with. Hasn't kept up with the times/technology and is unprofessional. Should not be in business. read more

Great Service is always valued, and Short Service provides just that! Mr. Short provided quick turn-around from my original call for service. He is clearly skilled and well experienced in his field. This is a service professional who is diligent, meticulous, and very pleasant to work with. Mr. Short provides a good estimate at a fair price, but goes above & beyond what is expected. I would not hesitate to recommend Short Service to family, friends, neighbors, etc. I am very pleased with the outcome of this service call, given that it was an oven that had not worked in almost 2 years. Very disappointing..never picks up calls or wouldn't call back even after leaving voice mails. Our range had an issue and it's been more than a month now since the technician visited last time. I have an Amana dishwasher that seems to have a bad pump. Amana setup an warranty repair appointment with this guy and he never showed up or called. Really glad I spent all day at home from work waiting on him for nothing. Calling his number just goes straight to voicemail for 4 days straight. Needed our shattered glass cooktop replaced, as well as a burner and the oven light. While I am sure other's could also do the work, Ken not only repaired the stove, but he cared about how he did it. He was concerned that the broken glass didn't get anywhere inside or outside of the house; he made sure when moving the stove the wood floor wasn't scratched; and he made sure he kept me informed of when the replacement parts were arriving, so I wasn't left wondering of when he was returning. My Haier dryer wasn't working, and after being stood up by Sears I decided to look for another company in my area. Mr. Short was able to come out the same day I called and he was on time. Within 30 minutes he had my dryer working again. He charges $45 to come out and includes that price in the repairs. My total was only a 100 bucks. Compared to Sears, which charges $80 just to come out, Mr. Short provided quality repair service at a great price. read more

I LOVE when Ken fixes our oven. We have a newer one that is just a crappy model, and he remembers us and what he did the last time that worked. He calls us when he says that he will, and if he doesn't, we just call him and he calls right back. He was booked through my home warranty company for 3 different jobs over the last 3 months - All three times, he has either not shown up for a booked appointment, not called back when I tried to follow up on the no-show, came with the wrong part, or called less than 5 minutes before showing up. They are extremely unprofessional. My warranty company called and approved a repair for my dryer. They did not process it for an entire month. During that time I was calling to check on the status but they were not answering the phone or responding to me. Finally, my warranty company cleared it up with them. Ken came to install an appliance that should have been a 15 to 20 minute job. He did not have a common part needed for the job. He left to drive to get it 5 minutes away and was gone an hour, he should have been back in 20 minutes tops. He charges 45 dollars for a service call which is reasonable and charges 65 an hour for labor. He charged over 65 dollars to go get a 3 dollar part that he should have already had on hand!!! So what should have been a 65 dollar total bill turned into $130. He also asked about accessing the crawlspace" which was not needed". So because he does not keep his truck stocked with common fittings he charged us an hour labor to go get the part, then another 30 minutes to install it. He seemed clueless about the appliance in question and kept confirming my experience in owning one. So basically he charged double what this service call should have cost. I can only imagine what he would have charged my parents if I were not there . I feel he took unfair advantage and padded the cost because he came unprepared and wasted time he billed us for. Ken has done several installations and repair jobs for me. He is very meticulous about his work. He does an excellent job, takes care that nothing is damaged while he is doing his work and charges a fair price each and every time. In addition, he is such a pleasant person to be around. Mr. Short made short work of repairing my Kenmore washing machine. He came when he said he would and gave me a call 10 minutes before he arrived. Working in an awkward space, he made no complaints, just went to work and finished the job. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I recommend him. His charges were very reasonable. read more
