I was not expecting much but I should know better. We ahve passed this on our way to some other state from time to time and alwys say we should stop here. So we did. Its nt the decor or the location that gt 5ive stars. Its the great steaks and attentive friendly service. Very local vibe, people seemed to know each other and the staff was very chatty. Maybe a little too much because we ahd to keep flagging our waitress down who seemed a bit scattered. But still she was very nice. Other staff members checked on us several times so we were never lacting in anything. The stake I ordered (medium rare) which I always order came out very rare. If it was a little more done I would not have said anything. But someone from the kitchen stopped by the table and asked if I was ahppy with the tempature. I was nice about it and said, well not really, this seems very rare to me, not medium rare. WIthout complain he quickly took the stake on a side dish leaving the rest of myt meal to enjoy. Teo minutes laters a perfectly medium rare stake came out with a bit of char on the outside, hot and pink while still juicy inside. And it was a very good, very thick streak. We love to try put non chain restaurants when traveling. Several locals recommended us to go here and man am I glad we did. The service and food was wonderful. We started with appetizers and free rolls with cinnamon butter and regular butter Catfish bites $8.99 I swear the plate had 30 little golden nuggets full of flavor. The breading vs fish ratio was spot on. Served with some really good tarter sauce and a lemon wedge Bloomin onion $8.99 blows Texas Road houses away by taste and size. Served with a side of sauce (reminded me of a spicy ranch) and so good For our dinners Grilled Chicken dinner $14.99 with greenbeans and a side salad. 2 huge well seasoned chicken breasts cooked perfectly and the best green beans I have ever had. 14 Oz Ribeye $23.99 served with a huge loaded bake potatoe ($1.50 upcharge but so worth it) and the loaded potato soup ( probably the top 5 best I have had) Overall our experience was a 10/10 amd once we are back in town we will definitely be back. read more

Was driving through Mt Vernon and was looking for something other than a chain and found this place on Yelp. To describe it, I would say it's a very toned down Long Horn. It was clean and was a pretty laid-back place. The grilled chicken sandwich with mushrooms onions and American cheese was delicious. It was a pretty good-sized chicken breast and was seasoned nicely. The potato soup that came with it was tasty as well. The cheeseburger my wife git was juicy and seasoned well too. The service was a little slow, but there were only 2 servers. Honestly the ambiance is a bit odd. The entire thing is western themed which I guess is somewhat appropriate as I'm in the middle of the country but odd nonetheless. The establishment is clean and there's ample lighting and seating. The food on the other hand is well above average. The rolls come hot with butter as well as cinnamon sugar butter (which honestly is just cheating at this point) and the Caesar side salad I received was crisp and inoffensive. Nothing crazy or mind blowing but good standard food. The ribeye I received was on the thinner end and had some sinew in it but otherwise was cooked to what was requested and the fully loaded baked potato that came with it was hefty with no shortage of toppings. The steak my friend received was similar, with appropriate grill marks, cooked appropriately, and the sweet potato was more akin to dessert than a side but who's counting at this point. The price point on everything was great and would totally come back. The only thing holding this place back was that at the beginning of the meal we received a dirty plate that needed to be sent back as well as the odd décor. The tables here have an interesting stickiness to them but nothing absurd. Try this place out if you're looking for some affordable steak dinners! read more

Damn, I never go any place I give five stars, but when we're traveling, we like to take a go to non-chain restaurant and found this place! Its gud!!! I had a ribeye the husband had the burger. Both were delicious my ribeye was super tender (I am a ribeye snob ) had some steak fries and a house salad. Service was awesome! P.S. This evening I was in town and I saw the billboard about this place and wanted to try it out. I walked in and was greeted by Danielle and Gatlin they had a smile on their faces and were friendly and kind . They sat me in I Greg's section he was my server . He was nice and helpful and didn't rush you. I checked out the menu and made my choice. I got a salad to start it was great then I got a Filet mignon sweet potato and green beans . It was cooked perfect and hit the spot. I couldn't have been more pleased with the food and the service. I would recommend this place to my friends and family. No reviews on Yelp yet - and I don't know why. Apparently this place has been in business at this location for a few years. My filet was among the best few I have ever had. If you are a fan of this style of green beans, which I am, they were very tasty - just like my mom used to make. Most importantly: though the place was mostly full, we had very fast service - and the place was as clean as if there were no customers. All the staff was friendly, but our server, Landree, was as quick, friendly, and attentive as they come! For two steak dinners, a top shelf margarita, and two desserts, the price was around $90. That seems a little high, but I don't know how that compares to this region. In my opinion, I definitely got what I paid for... this was wonderful! 100% would recommend. Really good! We enjoyed the Ribeye. Tons of flavor and cooked just right, Medium Rare. Side salad was large with ranch dressing which tasted homemade. Came with two sides. Bake potato was good. Visited this restaurant for the first time on Veteran's Day. They were giving Vets a free item off of the first page of their menu, which even includes a steak sandwich with a side. I was making the rounds and wasn't starving, so I got the 6 piece boneless wings, sauce on the side. BEST BONELESS WINGS I HAVE EVER HAD! They are huge, nearly like strips. Pork chops were overly salty and so much smaller; fried shrimps were no longer butterfly-styled and on the greasy side than we remembered. We chose Show Down because of the reviews and the proximity to our hotel. We were a little thrown off when we walked into a not super busy restaurant and we're told by the hostess/waitress that they weren't seating people so that "our servers have a chance to catch up." I didn't get her name but she was pale skinned and had blonde curly hair and another waitress with a little darker skin and dark curly hair had just "whispered" to her to not seat anyone. I don't know who runs the restaurant but this is something you need to correct or the great service reviews will go out the window. Our family discussed this seemingly unnecessary wait as an indication of what further customer service would be like and should we wait or leave. As we were trying to decide, someone came to the hostess stand and asked if we had been helped to which I replied that we had talked to someone but were told no one could be seated right now. She immediately said there must have been a communication error, and promptly took us to a booth and took our drink orders. It was pretty much smooth sailing from there. I don't understand all the drama when we arrived! The inside was a bit plain for a place named Show Down and I was expecting more Western-type decor. We ordered the Hoe Down margaritas, the catfish dinner platter w salad and broccoli, the bacon BBQ cheeseburger (I can't remember the menu name of it) with chili, and the 16 oz ribeye w salad and broccoli. All items were very tasty! Broccoli was a little raw still, but was good! We also ordered the cheesecake w raspberry drizzle. It was a 3/5 on a scale as it had a good flavor but not like REAL cheesecake. More like a combo between real cheesecake and the no-bake variety. My husband and I shared the steak and chicken meal and each got a side salad for the 1 sides that came with the meal. The salads were surprisingly big! Nothing spectacular about the makeup of the salads, fresh iceberg with diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar and croutons. DH says the honey mustard was likely not made in house but was good. I requested and received 4 good sized lemon wedges to season my salad. The steak was a good value for the price and the chicken portion was a small full breast. We've eaten here twice. First time a had a steak and second time I had porks ribs. Neither were edible. My wife had pulled pork sandwich both times and I had once as a replacement. We think it is very good. I think their chili is also excellent. I will return but am sticking with pulled pork and chili. read more

We placed an order for carry out on Dec 26, 2020. The staff was very professional and confirmed our order. The menu and food selection looked very good. The food was promptly prepared and was ready within the time frame promised. We were very pleased with the food. The one star review has to do with the complete lack of pandemic precautions! Not a single member of the staff were wearing masks! The tables and booths were not appropriately separated. With the ever rising number of COVID-19 cases and deaths, this is unacceptable... This is the first restaurant I have visited with such disregard for such basic precautions. Shameful! read more

I can't complain at all about the service or the food. Loved the fact that we could walk there from our hotel. The rolls are to die for. My only silly complaint (if you can call it that) is that the salad plates are too small for the salad. About 1/4 of my salad fell on to the table while I was trying to eat it! I ordered my sirloin steak medium but it was delivered well done. Even the server agreed it was over cooked. They promptly brought me a properly cooked steak.
