We have had so many problems with Tedd before and after closing. I hope that by detailing some of…read morethem here, it will keep someone else from having to go through all of this and wasting both time and money. The lender specifically ask about a close date and was told by Tedd that the last day in August would be the move in date. I ended up having to get an extension on the loan because the close date ended up being at the end of Sept. We didn't know when the final move in date would be until less than 2 weeks before. This made it very difficult to schedule things like the movers, work, giving our landlord 30 days notice. During the planning portion, Tedd repeatedly said how we would have multiple meetings at NFM. We did not meet with him once at NFM. We ended up paying over $1000 more for appliances because Tedd did not order them when he was supposed to. Multiple times, Tedd said that he would show us samples of wood staining. We never saw a single sample from him. The issues started well before the house was finished. We discussed many things with Tedd while going over plans for the house. He didn't take notes and just agreed to many things verbally. Many of the things he agreed to were later forgotten. If one cannot remember a list of things (which is understandable), then write things down to future reference. Examples? We paid extra to have stones placed on the side of the house. Tedd forgot to put the stones on the side of the house, but charged for it. An extra closet was put in one of the bathrooms without our permission. While we were NOT happy to have a closet added, it was something that we could deal with. However, the selection of closet door was terrible. Tedd agreed to replace the door and told me he would order it a few days after closing. 45 days later, when we asked about the door, he said he would have to order it. I am suspicious of the character of the people that Tedd hires to work for him. We saw some kids (10-12 years old) painting the house. Kids do not belong on a construction site. Apparently, someone stole tools from our house as it was being built. Because of this, Tedd refused to give us the code to access the house. One week after moving in, some of the lighting in the kitchen fell down. Two weeks after moving in, three electrical outlets failed in the kitchen. Ended up being failed wiring. Three weeks after moving in, the garage door opener stopped working. Turns out that the motor was bad and had to be replaced. Perhaps remanufactured parts were used in the construction of my house? Regarding the tile in the backsplash, we ordered the amount that Tedd requested (plus some extra to be safe). This tile was not in stock and had to be special ordered. Turns out that the person doing the tile needed a lot more. I had to order more and the tile work wasn't completed until after we moved in. The people doing the tile made a complete mess.....made the carpet dirty. Additionally, there were making inappropriate conversation for the workplace. My girlfriend was home at the time and didn't appreciate hearing them talk about women while they were working. I paid hundreds (like 600 or so) to have Cat 5 wiring in the house (the document from Tedd actually had a typo and calls it CAD 5 wiring, btw). The lines come together in the room with the water heater. I had to pay Tedd's electrician (CT Electric) to terminate these with RJ45 plugs. Unfortunately, this electrician decided to terminate the opposite ends of the cables (on the wall plates in the rooms) with RJ11s. This is very strange, as the wall plates are in locations that a phone should clearly not be (over the fridge where a TV should go), over the fireplace, in the bedroom where the wall plate is obviously high up because the TV would be wall mounted, etc. There was only one RJ45 put in....on the balcony. All other Cat 5 ends were terminated with RJ11s. If you are reading this and know anything about Cat 5 wiring (and what it is used for), you should be thinking this is very bizarre. CT Electric is a disaster to deal with and is typical of the people that are used by Empire Homes. When the people placing the sod broke part of my retaining wall, we had to wait about a month for Tedd to have it fixed. We are now nearing two months since moving in. List of things that still need to be fixed: Damper for exhaust fan, many paint defects, damage to the baseboard (physically damaged, not just paint) in the office, and clear coat on the wet bar (looks like someone placed some objects on it before it was completely dry). Update: Dec 12: After someone supposedly went through the house looking for things to fix AND after the painter returned, there is still painting that needs to be fixed. The existing siding was that old flaky asbestos stuff they used to use. Done Right gave us a good bid on the work that we needed done. They replaced our 17 windows with double pane energy efficient ones, and put on all new siding, and man, they really did a fantastic job. Ryne, the owner was one of the nicest contractors I've ever worked with. He listens to what you want and discusses all of the details with you to ensure that everything is fully understood. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was, in fact, done right. His employees were all helpful, knowledgeable, and entirely pleasant to work with as well. They are good at what they do. These guys made our house look like a whole new house while keeping with it's original character. It's so much less drafty and far more energy efficient now. I can't say enough nice things about them. We plan to use them again in the future for other projects on the house, and we would absolutely recommend them.

On Monday of this week (7/8/2024), I was told that someone looked at my house and that I had a lot of damage. I thought that was a little odd because I'm home most days and didn't see anyone. I also have cameras in front and behind my house and they were never triggered, but I shrugged it off. The appointment today was for between 11 and noon. The person texted and said he would be here between 11-11:15. At 11:20, I got this text: "Hey, David Cricket husker. Putting together your information head your way going through the pictures. I got your pictures. Confuse with another house. I use their address for you. And after looking at the reports, and I've looked in a couple. Other houses out in your neighborhood. You don't have hail damage. I do apologize." . Here's the rest: Husker: I'm so sorry. Your area didn't get hit Me: My pictures? No one has been here yet. My house is on ----- Drive. The house three houses down from me is getting their roof replaced today due to the hail damage Husker: Let me get back to the office. Double check all this. I'm waiting for a call back from. He does my roofing up inspections. Give me a minute please. Me: I have cameras on the front and back of my house. I can tell you nobody has been here since I contacted you to look at my house. Husker: Okay. Waiting for ---- to text me back. I'll get this figured out. Me: At the risk of sounding like a total jerk, this has frustrated me enough that I'm already looking at another company. You could be here looking at the roof in the amount of time it takes to wait on a text. Husker: That's definitely your prerogative, but I'm 65. I don't get on roofs anymore. I gave this to ----. I just want to confirm if he was there and what he found. Me: I can tell you definitively that he was never here at my house There were a few more texts, but the bottom line is that I told him to not bother...that if there was already this much problem getting someone here to give me an estimate, I didn't even want to think about the issues I would have if I hired them.

Jorge would come and get me to go up and look at progress and things they found as they removed the old roofs ... yes, the original 1973 roof was under the 1993 roof ... and advised me as how they would proceed next. I trusted his professional opinion on several issues that they needed to work around, HVAC Roof Top Units & plumbing vents being too low to do their normal installations to, and he did a beautiful job. I know, how can a new flat roof on a commercial building be "beautiful"? Well, it is! :-) Compared to what was up there before. I now have 7-1/2" of Styrofoam insulation that I didn't have before and the white roof will repel the sun's heat, instead of the black rubber roof that was there before. Their 6-person crew was very courteous and respectful and did a great job of cleaning up the work site every afternoon before going home. For a job done right, I would recommend Ciaccio Roofing Corp. every time! Having Johnson Roofing be turn key from dealing with all the trades, billings, and fight with the stubborn insurance company the whole time to make sure we were covered as we should be. Let me walk you through the lovely horror my wife and I experienced with Keystone Carpet and its…read moreultimate resolution. We were advised by a neighbor to go with Keystone Carpet for our new purchase. We didn't know at the time that our neighbor bought and flipped houses with cheap fixed. Our mistake. We met and liked Stan and ended up going with him for our carpet, recarpeting essentially the entire house. We demoed our own carpet, which was exhausting work, but Stan said it would save us about 1k on our costs. After we removed it, Keystone showed up a couple of days late and put the carpet in. We had agreed to a 2 year no-interest finance deal with Wells Fargo, but when we got the paperwork signed, it ended up being only 1 year. Whoops. None of the installers spoke english, which made it difficult when my wife, who was observing the process, was pretty sure the wrong colors had were being stalled on the wrong levels. And when we received the bill, they charged us for the demo of the old carpet. The install itself was okay at best, but we can still signs of mediocre quality on some seam lines and edges. After verifying that the carpet had indeed been installed on the wrong floors, we contacted Stan, who advised to just repaint the walls to match the carpet. Walls we had just painted. Uh....what? I'm not kidding. That's literally what he told us to do. So then he offered us $1500. I told him no. We either wanted the cost of the carpet credited back to us, or we'd take the $1500 as a whoops, and then they can come make it right because by that point, we'd moved all our stuff into the house because we had to get out of our old place. After much back and forth, Stan ended up passing away, and we had to resolve the rest of the issues with Emilie, who was a go between us and the other owner. The correct carpet was finally installed on the top floor along with a credit of 1500 + 800 for the self-carpet demo, but nothing was done about the basement. Because, according to Emilie, we had never agreed that the correct carpet would be installed in the basement. Apparently, Keystone didn't think we still wanted the correct carpet in our basement. Even that's exactly what we'd been asking for all along. So we went back into dispute resolution with Keystone through Wells Fargo because we want the cost of the wrong carpet comped back to us as we were tired of dealing with Keystone. After literally 1 and a half years of back and forth and essentially being ignored by Keystone, we finally got an additional 2800$ refunded which, added to the original credit, equaled the cost of the wrong carpet. Even though we demoed our own carpet. This company is a total joke. Maybe it goes without saying, but I would not recommend using them. I will say that Emilie was very professional in all her responses, but we have a bitter taste still after going through this ordeal when all we really wanted originally was the right colors on the right floors. But apparently that was too much to ask for.

Never again!! Broken windows (by the siding workers), ripped out cable from slip shot work (no cable for a week, yea that was just great), poorly wrapped window siding that are falling apart still, and a list of other items that were/are a major fail. Topping that list was the unprofessional workers who felt it necessary to cat call the neighbors daughter repeatedly (a wife and mother), ignorance clearly runs ramped with who these people hire. Think twice before you call them.
