A big shout out and thank you to the crew at Michael's Showside. They hosted 25 members of our Supper Club the other night and did a fantastic job. We did not make it easy on them. We ordered from the menu and asked for separate checks. No problem. The two servers did a terrific job with taking the orders, serving the food and drink and producing error-free checks at the end. As usual, the food was excellent. Some of the group's favorites were the Maryland Crab Melt on Grilled Texas Toast, Hamburger Steak, Chicken Wrap and the Roasted Brussels Sprouts (really good). Our Club will definitely be including Michaels's in our regular rotation. read more

My husband and I live in Lake Royale. We kept seeing post about how wonderful spring hope is. We tried showside Grill and bakery. Oh dear. We arrived at 5:45 pm and were told to sit wherever. We were next acknowledged 15 minutes later. We got our menus and asked for our drink options. Pros: My Caesar Salad (that I had to remind the waitress to bring me). The size of the wine pour Cons: I got my salad with our appetizer Everything else We were ignored even if we spoke out We had French fries, onion rings, and seafood that we wanted ketchup with. We never got her attention. I can handle a waitress who is overwhelmed as long as they continue to acknowledge it. I have only lived in NC for a few months and kept seeing what a cute town Spring Hopes is. So we ventured there. If there was somewhere else there that we could have left and gone to, we would've left. Believe me, I looked. We left a decent tip (over 15%- we usually leave 30%). We'll never go back nor venture to see their town unless something else peaks our interest. The food was gone but it's hard to enjoy your food when you are so agitated (and seriously I don't get agitated). Everyone else in the restaurant (very few), we're just as irritated. Do better. The low down: There are two parts to this place, the cafe and then attached to the back of the cafe is a door that takes you through another door to the bar. The food was terrific and the service was a little slow but it was the guys first night so we cut him some slack. Clean and some interesting decorating in the bar area (see photos). Also, states online that there is a cover charge of $5 when a live band is there. we weren't charged one, but we're prepared to pay if needed. Fun fact: For a small price you can take a ceiling tile, paint it and bring it back. I wasn't really sure they were still open because when you call the number it rings and rings and then there is a recording that says "voicemail isnt set up". Decided to drive out there to Spring Hope anyway (about 20 min away from where I live in Rolesville). We sa We pulled up around 7:30pm and the place looked closed. Virtually no cars, lights dim but there was a blinking sign that said OPEN. We walk in and NOTHING, no live music, no bar, just a few tables and only about 3 of the tables even had people seated. We stood there for about 2 minutes waiting for someone to address us(there was no one to be found). Finally a nice lady came out from the back. We asked her about the bar and live music that was advertised and she pointed to a door at the back of the restaurant and said...it's through there, you'll hear the music after you open the door. So excited that there was, in fact, live music we eagerly head to the door and open it. We hear nothing! We walk through the hallway and see a bar. There was one lady sitting at the bar. The rest of the bar was empty. We said to her.. we heard there was live music here and she said .. oh there is, they are taking a break. So we sat at the bar, Looking around we noticed some unique decorating. There were Barbie dolls hanging from the ceiling and supposedly each one represents a person. A bartender asked us if we wanted a food menu. I read from YELP that their food was great so we decided to place an order. We ordered a tuna sandwich w rosemary fries. YELP community is right, the food was delicious. My picture doesn't do it justice. The band came in from their intermission along w about 4 other patrons. The band was really good, playing country cover songs. We left early (about 9:30pm) and at that time there were only about 12 people there. The place really was awesome and more people should check it out. The band was great, the service was good(it was the bartenders first night) and the people that were there were super friendly. It's a much different vibe than what you get when you go out in Raleigh. read more

It's meh.. I have had better and of course worse. Maybe the bar side is better ? It was a Saturday afternoon and there were only 3 customers . this was nestled in a cute downtown area that probably once upon a time was bustling. 5 stars for the attractive business name and service. The business name was however too good. Too good to be true. food and service was very nice but it lacked any bakery or any baked goods all together. The hope cabinet they had not a bakery it was entirely empty. And what show? I asked and someone who had worked there a long time said there's no show to be spoken of around here. not a bad experience however confusing. read more

Visiting from out of town and had dinner here. From the time of order it took two hours and ten minutes to get our food. Food was good, but absolutely not worth that kind of wait. We were traveling with two children who were beyond famished by the time food arrived. My husband's steak was completely raw on one side and could not be eaten-disappointing. He was refunded for his dinner and my children were given two free cookies for our wait. I would recommend traveling a distance for better service. read more

I was shocked at how nice this restaurant is - right here in Spring Hope. The atmosphere (we sat in the bar) is awesome. The restaurant was extremely clean. I wish I had taken pics. Now the food took me over the top! Crab cakes! I've been all over the country and these were the best crab cakes I've ever had. Just go. It'll become a normal haunt for you just like it will for me! On the upside, the restaurant does have a little charm. The food is just not fresh. It's mostly frozen or pre-processed and heated up. The service is a concern. The waitress looked like she was wandering around and kept giving the wrong plates to patrons. I'm a resident of Zebulon, and there are not a lot of decent dining establishments around. This place is about 15 minutes from home, but it's my go-to for Mommy-Son Date Nights (MSDN) with my kid. The food is good. Service is a little slow sometimes, but I'm never in a hurry on MSDN. They have a standing menu as well as a large daily menu, and every entree we've had so far has been, at worse, pretty good! Not so crazy about the fried ravioli appetizer, but I don't know what I was expecting when I ordered that. Ha. Veggies seem to be fresh, meat and seafood are of good quality, and the restaurant is clean and chill. We dig it! I am sitting in a booth here right now, and was about to leave a 4 star review when the waitress came over and hand-delivered a tiny toy train my kid had left here on our last MSDN. We booked Michael months ago to caterer our wedding. We talked throughout the months to verify add/subtract everything. The day before the wedding he informed me that we would be there the day of the wedding. The day of the wedding at 12:00AM he CANCELED on us and told us he would not be catering our wedding or issuing a refund. How can HE cancel on us and not issue our money back?? How can he just cancel the DAY OF THE WEDDING. We already paid him in full months prior. We thought finding Michael was a blessing but he destroyed our whole wedding. We lost so much money! Please be smarter than me and find a better caterer. God Bless!! We also spoke to Michael about a month or so prior about changing the base count from 100 guests to about 75 and refunding the difference. Michael stated that he would send out the check within a week of the wedding. It has been almost 3 months we still have not received our refund. read more

My husband and I have only eaten here once, but we're residents of Spring Hope. Showside was very good-we both got specialty burgers. We sat and ordered for takeout and the staff was very friendly. The only negative thing I would say would be that my husband ordered sweet potato fries as a side and there were only a few in there when we got home and the prices are just a little bit high. I understand the prices because it is the only place in the area, but it was a bummer to only get a few fries for the price we paid. Other than that, it was great! Hidden gem in Eastern NC! Stopped in for dinner on our way to the Outer Banks and so glad we did. Delicious crab cakes and sweet potato fries. Burgers were also good. We stopped in this restaurant on a rainy Thursday night simply to grab a quick bite to eat, and ended up getting what was probably one of the best burgers that I've ever eaten in my life. Angus burger with roasted pork loin, topped with ghost pepper cheese and home made BBQ sauce. Friendly service, nice clean environment, and absolutely fantastic food.
