I was looking for a shredding service in the Bay Area, going back and forth between two companies and I finally settled on this one. I had all my questioned answered in a timely manner and they were patient as I was trying to schedule this around my dad's availability (we're on opposite sides of CA). Shred City ultimately had a better rate for what I wanted to get done so it was a no brainer. They sent me an email to confirm the service and were able to schedule us within a few days, which was even better. My dad is closing his business of 50 years and needed to shred the contents of 26 bankers boxes. The service was completed on 2/18. The driver showed up at my dad's store, shred the contents, left the empty boxes and that was it, a super smooth process! Then I was able to call, make the secure payment over the phone and I promptly received a receipt and Certificate of Destruction. It cost $208 to shred 26 bankers boxes which I thought was fair, especially since it was a mobile service where they came to us. We have more boxes to shred at my parent's house so when my dad is ready I will contact Shred City again to handle that service as well! Great job! read more

People are very concerned with proper disposal of paper with any identifying information about anybody. Shredding erupted as a great money making business. Its not hard to do. It is just time consuming. Shredding also requires equipment that can handle high volume. A large truck is needed to go to job sites. I contacted Shred City to get basic idea of the cost to dispose properly paper with a person or a business's privileged confidential information on the paperwork. Shred City is an amazing vendor. My office (LG Display in N San Jose) required on-site shredding of over 20 years' worth of documents (both in Banker's boxes and loose), and they immediately came up with an estimate & proposal that was both competitive and professional. They even provided locking bins ahead of time for us to dump unsecured documents in, and said we don't need to worry about taking off most staples/clips. On the day of the project, they showed up early and immediately got to work. The on-site shredders mounted on trucks were great, and they have a camera view of the interior so you can see that the documents are indeed getting destroyed. (If you don't require on-site, they of course offer pick-up for off-site shredding). They took care of nearly 1,000 boxes of documents well under the 4 hours they initially estimated. I have used Shred City shredding service three times. I use their pick-up up service. This time I have four Kitchen size (15 gal.) bags of paper documents for pick-up at my residence in Fremont. They are very helpful and courteous on the phone, Thursdays are pickup days for Fremont. I was lucky they could come today between 1p-3pm. I highly recommend them. They're reliable, convenient, fair prices and very professional. While moving, I found piles of outdated bills, tax returns, receipts, and other documents containing sensitive information. Since I frequently see random people going through recycle bins, I was looking for a safe method to dispose of our private documents. Shred City made it so easy. I called, made an appointment, and arrived at their Union City location. The employees came out to my car with a cart, loaded up the numerous boxes, took them inside, weighed them, and I swiped my payment card. In under 5 minutes, I disposed of ALL of my documents.
