Used them on President's day! I called in the morning to check if they were open and they told me they were until 5pm. Drove from Studio City to their location near LAX and finally dropped off the 5 bags of documents we've been accumulating for a while. The front desk lady greeted me and even came to my car to help me carry some of the bags. What a difference key employees make. I have used Shred Time for years, but today is the last time. There was a nice, helpful young woman running the front. Always patient, always a good, easy experience. No more. This visit was smile, "hello" and "thank you"-free. I pulled up with plastic bins filled with documents. I brought my own hand truck. I asked the new lady who came to the door if they had a ramp, because I didn't want to carry 100+ lbs. up their stairs. She curtly answered in an accent I didn't understand. No problem, LA has people from all over the world. But we get along because both sides of a conversation have to make some effort to communicate. I asked my question again, since I didn't hear a "yes" or "no" about the ramp. Still not understanding her and indicating I'm not hearing her. I started to ask again (third times the charm, right?) but she cuts me off and in now perfectly clear language says "Look! I've already TOLD you TWICE". Really? Well fuck you then, I'll take my $$$ elsewhere. Customer service is dead, I realize that. But I don't need some nasty bit of business for a simple job a child could do. I've never used a commercial shedding service before, and didn't know what to expect. Shred Time was open on Sunday, and that's what I needed. When I got there, the two guys on duty couldn't have been nicer or more respectful. They got the docs from the car, weighed them, and told me I could watch them shred it from the doorway next to the shredder. Sixty-one pounds of documents were finished in a few minutes. At just under $30, I thought it was an incredible value for the service provided, and the peace of mind knowing the docs had actually been destroyed. Shred Time's price was less than half of the price I was quoted at UPS, who uses Shred Nations, a shredding aggregator, who finds a shredding service after picking them up from the storage bin at UPS. I wanted to use a local company, and I wasn't comfortable with dropping off these really sensitive personal documents and then having them be stored until being picked up by one company and given to another to shred. With Shred Time, I put the docs in the car, drove to Shred Time, and literally 10 minutes later was on my way and got to watch the docs get shredded, so total peace of mind about the process too. I had accumulated many years of financial papers and transaction records that were taking up several shelves in my office closet. I looked around for shredding services and was impressed by the presentation by Shred Time and the positive reviews by their customers. I removed all of the documents from their binders and loaded up about a dozen grocery bags with them. I had time while my wife was having a doctors appointment to drive to Shed Time right around their opening time of 8:30. Very nice people greeted me and unloaded the bags from my car and put them on the scale. One hundred and twenty seven pounds!!! On a giant screen closed circuit television I watched the process of feeding the shredder and gathering the end product. Very efficient, reasonably priced and efficiently done. We were (still are) in the process of clearing out a storage space and were only in town for a few days, and we couldn't find a place to recycle boxes of paper and documents in Los Angeles for a fair price. Shred Time offered convenient service at a fair price. You have the ability to watch your confidential papers shredded while sitting in the lobby via a large-screen tv. The staff and workers are polite and helpful (assisted us in unloading boxes from our car) and they were very efficient! I recommend them 100%. We love that they are open on the weekend. They were kind because we were trying to get to their facility and called in advance on Sunday to let them know we might get there a few minutes before closing time due to LA traffic. They were honest and informed us that the worker who did the shredding was leaving exactly on time. But... if we arrived at least 15 minutes before that time, they could accommodate us. We really appreciated that and took a chance and arrived 15 minutes before closing and as promised, they accommodated us and were done in 15 minutes! Suggestions--(1) don't know if they offer it, but a scheduled pickup service could have saved us some time (since we had to drive from storage space in mid-Wilshire LA to their facility near the airport). (2) Offer a discount for large orders (we gave them 12 storage boxes on both Saturday and Sunday) and will be back in the next month or so with that amount of boxes or more over the next few months, read more
