Monsters do exist! At least in the form of machines that do all the dirty work of destroying old technologies. I came across Shred Time in Yelp because I needed to get rid of old vhs tapes without having to drop them at a landfill. No, there's no porn in the collection. At least not that I know of. Those I would have kept! I drove straight to the business which is located in the warehouse district near LAX. Once I arrived, I was guided towards a large scale which weighed the contents of my banker's box full of vhs. Immediately after, Oliver, the owner, handed the contents to one of his employees whom proceeded to drop the tapes onto the conveyor belt of annihilation! What's cool is that I was allowed to watch the destruction in real time. Vhs tapes are transformed to plastic confetti. Once done, I paid and then went my merry way. Very professional and easy peasy. We were greeted quickly at the door and asked what we needed help with. The prices/weights were clearly explained. We have been helped by Hannah on two occasions and she has a great attitude and is willing to explain and help with any questions. The prices are very fair especially for the piece of mind knowing they are destroyed immediately and the customer can view the whole thing. I am so impressed with this company! They are a rare find. I took 32 lbs of papers to be shredded. I didn't have an appointment, just showed up. Before I was out of my car, 3 people came running down their front steps to pull out the boxes. I followed Oliver to the back where he deposited them. It was a matter of minutes before another person proceeded to empty their content onto a running belt and into the shredder. I was able to watch the process on a TV screen in the lobby, where Oliver brought me a bottle of water. How nice is that!?. I paid $20.00, which is what they charge for up to $50.00 lb, to a friendly receptionist. I was handed a receipt, and in less than 10 minutes it was over and done.
