I recently found a bunch of old filmstrip reels from decades ago of my mom and decided to convert them despite how expensive it would be. Thankfully, I was able to get a bulk discount by converting multiple reels at a time. I made several trips to drop off and pick up the converted videos. Each time, the person I dealt with or spoke with on the phone was very friendly, personable, and professional. They all couldn't have been nicer. The time it took to convert each set of filmstrips was reasonable. The quality of the converted videos turned out excellent! I am very pleased with how they turned out and have been sharing the links with many friends and family. The videos are truly treasured keepsakes. Very happy with the service. I brought in a VHS tape of my brother in the hospital after he was born and some footage from the first few months of his life. When I first brought it in, was told that the tape was not playing properly and they didn't charge me a penny for looking. They told me to ship it somewhere to get it fixed and come back when it is playing. That was not an option if I wanted the file ready in time for my brother's birthday. I asked if they knew anyone locally that could do it but they didn't know anyone. I came here on Yelp and looked up VHS repair and found a sop E Joseph TV and VHS repair that was actually less than 2 miles away and they were able to swap the tape into a new VHS body and got it playing, so I took it back and was able to get it digitized. The service was 5 stars, quick and easy, but leaving 4 stars because you would think that they would know local VHS/Tape repair people since not offering a tape service themselves. I actually found a handful of places in LA area that were willing to do this but I choose the one that was closest - less than 2 miles away. read more

Very nice people but the conversion job was less than satisfactory. They gave me a hard time about it- blaming the age of the media and not their fault. They say they tried hard and made me feel bad saying they tried it on multiple machines and still the quality was poor. At that point they should have called me but they did not. She claimed it was 1 in 1000 that had this issue. I did the research and pointed out a possible fix; they sent my VHS tape over to their Torrance store and the result was noticeably much better. In the meantime, I missed my deadline and the poor version was not acceptable for the event we were planning to show it at. So I WOULD recommend this business but ONLY the Torrance store with the better equipped deck. I was made to feel bad for insisting on better quality- this was not a good feeling so I do not think I would use them again. (I imagine they are not going to cry about losing me as a customer) In the end, they gave me the fat file so we could do professional corrections on the file so I can still recommend them but they did say up front at the end, that they don't do this usually. And they did NOT charge me extra. read more

After my first visit I decided to take 2 more videos because I was thrilled with the first outcome. unfortunately it went down hill from there. Picking up the next set of videos was absolutely terrible. Nothing was working and I was left with no result. driving back and forth and testing out the footage on several tv's for it all NOT to work. on top of that I'm still left with NO solution and NO accountability from this business. For the first video to work, and come back for more videos NOT to work on as quite disappointing. I would appreciate if I was being helped with more care especially since I am a paying customer who is unable to get any refund out of this dreadful experience. read more

I made an appointment to transfer a DVD to a computer file. I explained that I needed the DVD transferred because it had a father daughter dance on it from when I was 13, and my father passed away two years ago, and I wanted to project the father daughter dance at my wedding which was taking place in two weeks. The man who helped me when I dropped off my DVD was extremely friendly and told me it would be ready in a few days time. A few hours before the time of scheduled pickup - 3 pm on a Friday - I called in to make sure it would be ready to be picked up at the scheduled time as I had not heard anything. The woman who answered informed me that no, actually, they were having trouble transferring the file and that it would not be ready that day but that they were trying one final thing to see if they could make it work. She told me to call back the next day. Interestingly, they had not called ME or otherwise attempted to communicate with ME that they were having trouble and that it would not be ready at the scheduled time. I found that to be a bit frustrating that I wasn't kept up to date about issues they were having, but whatever. Less than an hour later, however, I got an email saying my order was ready to be picked up. Confused, I called back to confirm the email was not an auto-generated email reminder and to make sure that my project was actually ready given what the girl had told me an hour before about not being ready until tomorrow. The woman was completely condescending and told me that if I got the email, that means it is ready and was flabbergasted that I called back. I explained that I just wanted to make sure given our earlier call. I asked her specifically if this email meant that the project was successful or if they had just given up so that I could have my expectations set before driving in. She said that I should check the invoice and if they charged me, that means they were successful. I asked her if she could pull up the invoice to tell me. She again, condescendingly told me that it was in the email and I should check myself, but begrudgingly she pulled it up and informed me that yes, they charged me $29, so the project was successful. I go to pickup my dvd and flash drive only to be told upon arrival (by the same woman I had just spoken to 15 minutes before on the call) that they were only able to transfer 25 minutes of the 1.5 hour DVD I gave them. I asked her why she didn't tell me that on the phone when I specifically asked her if the project was complete. Again, not only did she start condescending me, telling me that the project IS complete because they were able to transfer something over, she told me it wasn't even worth their time to do this because it turned out to be harder for them to transfer than they initially thought and that I should be GRATEFUL that they even continued trying at all. I then pointed out that she had been extremely rude and condescending to me on the call earlier that day when I had called specifically to check whether the project was complete, as I didn't want to get my hopes up that I would be able to project my first dance with my dad at my wedding after he died. She didn't apologize, and continued to be extremely rude and repeated that they shouldn't have spent as much time as they did on this (as if it was my fault for bringing in a DVD to their business, or that I somehow should have known it would be difficult). On top of the condescension by this woman, they charged me FULL PRICE after failing to be able to transfer even half of the DVD to the file, which just added insult to injury after being spoken to and treated with so much unnecessary condescension. I have to say that that gentleman who I think owns the place was extremely friendly when I initially dropped off the DVD. But the other woman was so completely rude and demeaning for no reason, they charged me full price after failing to deliver, and I will never come back here again. read more

I needed to digitize old family photo albums. This company provided exactly what I needed. During COVID, I scheduled appointments online to drop off and pick up orders. This location does not use lockers, and I directly handed my photographs to an employee. They are also very helpful and friendly over the phone. They went over the different pricing options, depending on desired quality of scans and whether they have to do full page scans or individual photo scans. It was really quick and easy on my part. They have parking, so it was very convenient to go, drop off my photos, and wait for contact to pick my order back up. They sent all the invoices through email, and they charged me half to start my order and the remaining balance once they finished. They seemed very trustworthy, and it took me approximately 2-3 weeks to get ~1000 photos scanned. I definitely recommend this store for your digitizing needs. read more

Such a fabulous experience- they quickly put together film montage of our mom for her celebration of life. Took a pile of disparate pictures and made into a beautiful, heart tugging reel. The editor worked with me without complaint and did several edits before creating my perfect vision. I had 12 reels of Super-8 and 8mm film my stepfather took from the late 40s through the mid-1960s. I had no idea what the condition was. DVD Your Memories was able to transfer all of them to digital, cleaning up the film and adjusting both the color and the exposure so it was watchable across a huge range of issues on the old film. They also transferred three Mini-DV tapes to disk for me, again with no issues and excellent results. The customer service is great and highly responsive. The quality of the work is outstanding. I needed a video made for a retirement party, using some video clips and over 200 photos, captions and music. I knew exactly what I wanted but lacked the technical skills and time to create it so I went to Yelp. After posting on Yelp I received a message from DVD Your Memories. Their initial communication was very clear and they guided me to their website where I located the description and approximate costs associated with creating this type of video. I was working on a budget and was apprehensive about cost but the quote provided was very reasonable. I dropped off a thumb drive with all the photos pre-sorted and I also created a very specific outline explaining what music I wanted and where, as well as captions, and the order of the photos and videos. I dropped it off on a Wednesday and needed it the following Tuesday. Sean contacted me within a couple days with very specific questions. It was clear to me Sean appreciated my vision of the project and was interested in using his artistry to make my vision a reality. Sean was incredibly patient as he and I went through several edits. I am very particular, and he took my requests in stride, including some inherently contradictory instructions, such as "make the video shorter but add more slides." Sean never complained or balked, he just kept working on it, delivering a finished product that exceeded my expectations. And, he did it all for the original estimate, even though he could have charged me additional fees. Best of all, the retiree was moved to tears by the video. It was the perfect retirement gift. Can't recommend DVD Your Memories highly enough. They were excellent, and highly professional, to work with, especially during the pandemic. I've interacted mostly with Sean and Paul, both of whom were friendly, patient, and accommodating. Customer service really doesn't get any better than what I received from both. I had a 40+ year old Super-8 film I wanted put on a DVD, plus a bunch of short ends that I'd kept after editing it years ago. In addition, I had several old VHS tapes I wanted put on DVD, some on the same disc as the Super-8 film, some on a different disc. In other words, my order was not a straightforward transfer and it involved different formats. My instructions were followed to the letter. I was called on the telephone by Paul to clarify a few points I'd written down and to confirm my order. I was quoted a price for the completed job and given a couple of options that would cost a little more or a little less with clear explanations of the benefits (or not) of choosing one option over another. They took the time to make sure I understood and that I was getting what I desired and within my budget. They gave me an estimated time of completion. The end product was far better than I'd expected. They corrected the color on the Super-8 and cleaned it. They put together the DVDs exactly as I asked. The final price was not a single cent over the estimate. They delivered the final product a day or two before their estimated time of completion. After I got everything home and watched it through, impressed by the better than expected quality, I then discovered that I'd neglected to have a Super-8 reel I dimly remembered from 40 years earlier added to the DVD. I searched my things and finally found the Super-8 reel I'd forgotten. Called Paul. He laughed at my error, understood my disappointment (in myself, not in their service), and agreed to re-do the DVD's and add the additional material. He didn't "give me a break" because of my error, and I didn't expect him to, nor should he have done so. But he did re-do the work quickly and finished before the date he estimated, helping me to get the product in time for me to take it with me on a trip I'd planned and wanted to show the old Super-8 material to some others who hadn't seen it in 40 years. All in all, I was completely, entirely, thoroughly satisfied with EVERYTHING that DVD Your Memories did for me. Look around at other services if you need to and want to be thorough, but I can't imagine what else any other Audio/Visual Transfer service could offer or perform that wasn't supplied by DVD Your Memories. They are Aces!!! read more
