I took them a bare 6.0 block to just be bored and honed and hot tanked....I told them I wanted all the bearings,pistons, rods and crank installed and told him what my budget was ...he agreed and said it would be ready in a week...6 weeks later he said it was ready when I got there he gave me a bare block that looked horrible had surface rust all over it and a box with some cheap bearings and parts...he gave me the wrong crank ...and my cam wouldn't fit...I will never use these people...and he went almost $1000 over...so he didn't do shit and charged me more ..when I asked for a detailed receipt he told me no. ...DO NOT USE THIS PLACE read more

Absolutely the most TRASH customer service I have ever seen before in my life. They listed a LY6 6.0 GM block for sale that was bored .020" over. Said it was hot tanked, cleaned, painted and brush honed. Pictures on their listing looked like a freshly machined and cleaned block. After trying to pay them for a week they finally took my money. I finally found .020' over pistons since they are rare for these blocks. The block showed up 3 weeks later and was absolute garbage. It was absolutely not hot tanked, cleaned and inspected. There is old dirty oil leaking out of the mains, old gasket material hanging off everywhere, and to top it all off it was still a standard bore block! It literally looks like they pulled a motor out of a junk yard, tore it down and lazily pressure washed it, rattle canned it black and sent it off on a dilapidated pallet missing legs. Rusted, corroded cylinder bores, I mean seriously it is horrible. Absolutely nowhere near what the listing stated. The whole thing is just a marketing scam on their ebay page. I should've known better when they wouldn't even let me pay using paypal or ebay. I called and they said if I sent it back they would refund the money. So now that I waited a month for this motor to build, I now have to pay $300 to ship it back to them and wait for them to maybe refund my money (but not the 1/3 of the price it costs to ship it back)! How in God's name is that customer service?!?! I had to call my bank and file a dispute and got the money for the block back but am now told if I still don't pay to ship it back to them that the money will be taken back out of my account. So all in all I will be out $300 for absolutely NOTHING! This company is trash, if they offered me free engines for life I would refuse and pay someone with good customer service double. And throughout the entire process I was nothing but patient and nice while being ignored and given the run around. So I call back to tell them that it is still sitting here and they need to set up shipping to come pick it up. Even offered to pay half of the shipping at their rate since they get discounted rates and it's only $175 for them to ship it and they refused. I asked to speak to the owner and am told no. And to top it all off when I asked how it makes sense to send someone something they didn't even order (wrong product not at all what is described) she tells me that she sent me something better because it's a standard bore! I don't care how you feel about it being better or not, it is absolutely not what was in the product description. I had asked when ordering how much they would charge to bore it to .030" over and it was too much and I didn't really trust them to do it right. So after telling her that I had ordered the 020" over pistons and was going to use them since that's what the bore of the block was supposed to be she said I wouldn't have been able to use them anyways because the block would've still needed to be bored. Why in the world would you need to bore a block that is 4.020" even more to use pistons that are 4.020". you would need to finish hone it to the manufacturer specs of the pistons which some are made to go directly in a 4.020" bore (like the ones i ordered. Product description said it was honed already, but was told that it was in no way ready to be assembled coming from her machine shop. How is that even possible?!!? Literally all i want is to have them come pick it up and take it back and give me my money back but basically they sent me whatever they wanted and I should be happy with it because to them "I sent you something better". NO, YOU SENT ME TRASH! I could've gotten something this crappy out of a local junk yard for $2-300! this cost $899 plus $175 shipping. Stay as far away from this place as possible if you are looking for any type of quality anything. regardless of what they come on here and respond with, they send nothing near what they advertised and will not make it right by simply paying the return freight with their discounted rate. I was excited to try these people out after finding their website and reading that they have helped 70000 people successfully. But they say they cannot even do a Miata engine, which is quite common. There was nothing on the website to suggest this might be the case. Very disappointing. read more

Told me 1 month to replace motor, took 3 months. Even longer now from reading reviews. BUT my motor had a 2 yr 24000 mi warranty. It lasted 3 yrs but only had 22196 miles on the "new" $5000.00 motor. They used my old original plug wires (they had over 138000 miles on them) and installed champion spark plugs in the new motor. (Cheap garbage plugs). Bolts were loose on the exhaust manifolds. And developed a small oil leak about a month after picking up but did not want to send back for another 3-5 months to have them look at it again. read more

I had an engine rebuilt and paid over 4k for it. When I came to pick the vehicle there was gentleman coming out the building telling me how many times he had to come back for repairs. By then it was too late for me and I was hoping that was just him. I picked up my vehicle and right away there was something else needing repair that I hadn't a problem with. After having my vehicle a couple months, there was a leak around the engine that required them to pull the engine again. Less than a year the engine is having issues and I'm left with no other recourse but to allow them to repair in hopes of ending this mistake of a purchase. Never again!! read more

I've read & read up on Shreeve's engine rebuilding for over 20 yrs when they opened their 1st in hazelwood n=in north county, I worked as an auto mechanic at west county tech went to ranked to complete my course when it comes to engines , there's no telling what you get into once you are into the engine itself taking off the valve covers to see the springs and the rods are worn, no telling what it is until you see it for yourself, someone mentioned they didn't dip my engine for 4 grand you're lucky to get what you git done the work you mentioned prices was like 30 yrs ago, drawing prices back to 1991 but it's 2021 read more

1) they quoted me an engine with 35k miles at $4k to install. After Install I was told the engine has 78k miles on it, not 35. They couldnt find any paperwork showing the miles on it bc the person whom they got it from supposedly "quit" 2) my car arrived there in June 2019, I didn't not get it back for the first time until October 2019. I was told over and over that it was taking so long because an employee had a family emergency or another person quit. Then I was told that the normal engine Install guy was not there so he was having someone else do it. 3) my car went back to them 4 additional times between october and february. Keep in mind at this point my warranty has expired although I have maybe driven it for 4 weeks I between trips to the shop. 4) some of the stuff they "fixed" they did out of courtesy and it was not their fault necesarrily but im sure that was only done because they had my car for so long 5) everything they did "fix" has since been replaced AGAIN with the exception of the new head gaskets I was told were put on but previous lies lead me to beleive the "new" headgaskets came from my original, already bad, engine. 6) I got my car back in February and now 4 months later my car wont start. I didnt even want to talk to Collin again so I took it to a dealership instead. Oil and coolant in all 4 cylinders. Need ANOTHER new engine. 7) as I stated before my warranty ran out 2 weeks after I got it back because it was in their shop the whole time so my warranty is up. Im 4 months pregnant, not financially able to buy another car, stuck with the hack job that shreves did. In 2019, I ordered a custom rebuilt 5.7 (346) LS1 motor with a LS9 cam and 243 (or 799) heads on it. Greg Shreves delivered!!! What I got was a rebuilt LS6 with cam and heads, and although, the motor didn't produce the amount of HP I was hoping for, it has turned out to be a very good motor!!! My 01 Z28 is a very nice street car, and runs great!!! If I ever need another motor again, I will order from Shreves!!! read more

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with any auto business. I paid over $4000 for a rebuilt engine in my 08 HHR, immediately there were problems. The second day after getting my car back the vehicle wouldn't even idle due to a plug not seated all the way, according to them. Over the next two years I had my car back to them at least 10 times with problems ranging from overheating to engine oil leaks. Many times when I broke down Shreves would send a tow truck to retrieve the vehicle and fix it again and again. Two mo tha ago the engine had just had enough, it blew up on the way home from work. My thought was the car was never correct so I called them, here's where it gets corrupt, they had no record of my vehicle ever being back to their shop, really?? The manager told me it would be an additional $1800 to repair, this is after 57K miles. My response to him was I would pursue legal action if this is the direction they choose to go, only after that we negotiated a price of $500 to repair. Well I just picked up my vehicle, after them having it for two months, the car looked like it had been outside the whole time, also there was a new dent/scratch on my drivers side. It has been a horrid experience, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this business!! read more
