We first found this playground on accident on the way back from IKEA. At the time it felt newly…read morebuilt. Parking was hard to find but we got lucky. The second time my kid wanted to come so we purposely drove out to it. This time we left early because it didn't feel safe. We went to the bathroom and there was a homeless person in there occupying the handicap restroom, most likely doing something illegal. Her arm was sticking out under the stall and it felt kind of scary. I had to usher my kids out as quickly as possible. When we got back to the playground, tons of trash. A toddler pulled down her pants to pee on the ground. A bunch of teenagers were at the toddler playground without shoes on, occupying the "inside" of the playground. Worried my kids had to go to the bathroom again, we left early. It didn't seem sanitary nor safe anymore. We will not be back.

This was a super nice park and was perfect for young children and slightly older ones too. The play…read morestructures were big and had a large variety of things, slides, climbing, spinning, ropes, etc. The one for the slightly older kids with the steepest slides had beans puke all over it (not sure how long it had been there), which was super gross, but the park service truck came while we were there and power hosed the thing down. Our toddlers had a great time climbing on the blocks, enjoying the slightly shorter and less steep toddler friendly slides, and the bucket swings.

There are two separate swing sets, two for older kids and two for younger kids. My daughter had a blast exploring, though she spent most of her time on her favorite spot: the swings. There's also a trail nearby, perfect for getting some steps in. I wish Bellevue had a park like this! Btw did I mention it's not even that busy on a Sunday?

If you are planning to visit and not handicap please use the "west" parking lot. Just a heads up there is a sign we saw after we had already been there for hours. When we came a family was having a birthday party in the gazebo. It looked like a great place to have a party. The place is fenced in and good for 2 year olds and up. Shade is great in the summer. Hidden picnic table by the dragon. We brought a pizza :)

But there seems to be a lot going for it for those living in the area or visiting. There's a community center with a pool, restrooms, water fountain, a trail where you can walk and ride your bike around, a playground, covered picnic areas, accessible parking and a large open space in the center for just about whatever your heart desires. Located in downtown North Bend, it's easily walkable from the businesses and many residential areas around. Nice to know that the city of North Bend has a great community space to go to. I came here to enjoy my takeout and take a break from hiking, and and was happy to have such a large open space to myself. Well, it felt like I had the park to myself even though there were others around. Now I know where to go in North Bend for when I want to relax outside.

Built in the 1930's, it is a former WPA project. Until the early 2000's, it was part of the King County Parks system when it unceremoniously closed in order to save money. Fortunately, local community members banded together and formed King County Metro Parks. Visions were shared, plans were made, Public Bonds were proposed and passed. In the past several years we have seen the property and building transformed. It supports and/or hosts many classes and local events, including Family entertainment (Family Night), a variety of seasonal craft shows, Haunted House, Festival at Mt Si, North Bend Farmer's Market and much, much more. There's a local pool which offers classes, inexpensive swim sessions and rental for parties and events. The Community itself is also available for events. But if you really want to experience it for yourself, come out for the Farmers Market and free concert (featuring local bands and musicians) every Thursday afternoon throughout the summer, OR come to the Festival at Mt Si over the second weekend of August.
