IMO The best Chinese spot in Louisville. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The building is a little hidden and looks a bit dated but the solid food makes up for it. Food was authentic but they do have options for more American tastes. The black bean noodles were delicious and the sweet and sour pork was crispy tangy deliciousness. Placed take out order... arrived to get it. Was no order ready. No response after standing around waiting for over an hour and a half. Just felt wrong after watching others come in and get service and food. Third time we've come back after our initial visit and have tried to eat food from here. So can't speak on the food cause we can't seem to get them to feed us. The service... looks and glances and oh okay be right with you is it. We wanted a dining in experience for Chinese and chose Sichuan Garden, a long standing restaurant in Louisville. Its space looks the same as it did years ago. I'd forgotten how big the restaurant is, and noticed a side room that would be ideal for a private parties. I enjoyed my wonton soup and sweet & sour chicken. My family said good things about their egg drop soup. However, they were not as excited about their orange chicken or empress pork. Even though they requested it as mild it had a kick to it. This is a little mom and pop shop that is run by a small family. The food is delicious, and the service is absolutely remarkable. I've eaten here for 2 years and they are nothing but kind and even started offering me things on the house. This place represents what a true business that cares looks like. Pretty happy find! Moved to this area about 2 years ago and only recently saw this place when I was pumping gas at Kroger. They have short hours but I gotta say they are actually good which is surprising. I didn't know this place was even near me until it showed up on my yelp feed. Decided to stop and get carry out. It was excellent. Went in talked with gentleman working the front counter. Asked for recommendations, he suggested the Empress Chicken. It was perfect just enough spice and lots of chicken and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. I ordered crab racoon as well. They close 8pm on that day, so at 7:40pm, we decided to just get some to-go dishes for the ramen noodles we brought for the road. Nothing to complain. My dad got takeout from here for a family get-together. I have to say, after trying their food, that I am seriously impressed! The egg rolls are large. Crab Rangoons are large and actually have crab in them. The entrees are executed well. Vegetables in the stir fries are tender-crisp. Sauces have some complexity in their flavor (and a little spicy kick depending on the dish). Meats that are battered and fried have an appropriately crispy coating. The food was so so... I did not like to be charged an extra $5.00 ($2.50 for each of us) for a small bowl of brown rice for me and hubby; especially when the food comes with the rice. Service was okay. The ambiance was not inviting at all, no music, and it looked very disorganized. Also, when we told them it was our first time here - it was like okay - whatever kind of thing! I like it when I go to any establishments and share with them "It is our first time here" I like them to say "Welcome" and "We would like to offer you a soft drink or dessert complimentary for trying our Restaurant for the first time". We were very impressed with their lunch menu and ordered two appetizers, the Crab Rangoon and Egg Drop Soup. The Crab Rangoon was fresh and very large and delicious. The Egg Drop soup was also very good and had a great broth. We both went with the General Tso's chicken with Fried Rice and Egg Roll. It was all so delicious and the chicken was perfectly sauced and crispy, not too spicy although they ask you how spicy you'd like it. Mild was perfect! We both agreed that we will be adding this to our normal rotation. Once we sat, I remembered coming here a few times as a child and confirmed once the waitress informed me they had been in that location for 34 years, How impressive! I can tell you that the decor probably hasn't changed much, if at all from what was here from the start, but that really doesn't matter when the food is as good as it is. For all that we ordered, our total was no more than $33 for lunch! The service was fantastic and we will most definitely return! read more

I believe she was the daughter of owners. Loved that this is family owned and been here over 30 years. Very good flavor. Heavy on the tofu. Tasted home made. Egg drop soup was thick, not thin. Heavy on the egg. Good flavor. Not too salty. Happy Family dinner features shrimp, chicken, beef, scallops. Tender. Cooked well. Comes to the table and added to a hot plate to finish cooking, letting off smoke. Its fun to watch. Dinner comes with white or fried rice. Brown rice available for extra. Cashew Chicken had s good mixture of veggies. Sauce was stronger than I'm used to, but still very good. Lots of meat and cashews. No skimping on the good stuff! We each had a chicken egg roll. Large sized. Again, good flavor and perfectly fried. The sauces brought to the table were the duck sauce, a garlic dauce, and hot mustard (I think, lol). Everything in this restaurant is homemade. This used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant in town. Especially anything with fried chicken (such as sweet and sour chicken) as they tasted and felt almost broiled and fried. Different from the usual quick fried chicken at other places. Since Covid though, it really has changed. The last time I checked, they only offer carry out, and the pride of cooking does not seem to be there quite as much. I do still love most of their dishes, but I miss dining in at Sichuan, and hope they will bring it back someday. Can't believe I didn't know about this place. No hesitation rating them at 5 stars. Was there over the weekend with a large group and we got several different dishes (egg and spring rolls, fried rice, lo mein chicken, cashew chicken, a couple of beef dishes with veggies). I tried them all and seriously everything was great! Not good, great. Had family in from Washington DC and he told me he's a a self proclaimed Asian food connoisseur and he agreed it's among the best he's had. Pleasantly surprised by this hidden spot. Located in the Linn Station Kroger strip center. This is close to my office and never realized this restaurant was here. I came in around 1:30 on a Thursday. The restaurant was empty except for me. The service was great, and the food was very good. Made to order. I ordered off the lunch menu, you can until 2:30. They also have a buffet, I didn't realize until after I ate. I ordered the king pau beef. The lunch combination walks include a soup, rice (fried, white, or for an upgrade brown,) egg roll, crab Rangoon or spring roll. I ordered delicious egg drop soup (with the crunchies) and an egg roll. Entree size was large for lunch. I would have gotten a to-go box. It I was having a long night for work so I didn't want my car to stink. The soft drinks are bottled, they bring glasses and ice. I will be back to try other items on the menu. The place was average- not really worth the hype I felt. Plain Jane Chinese food. Small buffet with a couple chicken dishes and a couple pork dishes. Two types of noodles and a fried rice that was not that flavorful at all. I know Chinese food is salty at baseline but it felt like 'soy sauce' was the predominant ingredient in everything. The dessert was just pitiful. Included some canned pineapple and cut up protein bars ( the kind with chocolate and nuts you get at Costco).
