Popped in for a takeout order at 3.30ish on a Monday. There were two folks behind the counter and a couple of customers waiting fir there orders. There were a couple of high top stools at the counter at the window, facing the street but really not a dine in restaurant. The gentlemen who took our order was kind. Only took about 10 minutes to prepare our vegetable stir fry that came with fried or white rice. We opted for the white rice. It was still plenty hot when we got it home and more than enough for the 2 of us. The veggies wete fresh and crisp, not over cooked. Yhere was brocolli, carrots, snow peas, pretty sure cucumbers, bok choy and celery in a tasty brown sauce. And ample rice. Great good, price and servive. read more

I would love to love this place as it's a very convenient. I have had a few different dishes from here and they have always been fine. It's definitely well priced! Recently though, I wound up throwing out my hunan chicken. It actually tasted of plastic or chemicals. Maybe it was just so steaming hot when it went into the plastic tupperware? I have gotten the veggie egg foo young a few times and enjoyed it, though the gravy sauce has a tiny but of a licorice taste so use that in moderation! This particular time, the veggies were so bland and tasted more like water. Definitely missed seasoning. I'm not sure, but when it comes to take-out, I prefer something a bit more consistent. I get take out and delivery from China One on Eastern Parkway regularly. I have never been disappointed. The food is always prepared as requested, hot and delicious. I always get exactly what I ordered with extra condiments and utensils just as I asked for. I especially like the War Su Gai, fried rice and mixed veggies but have tried many dishes and have never disliked an entree from them. Everything tastes great and seems very fresh and wholesome. Ordered Chinese for a large group of friends as recovery from our annual holiday party - this place was PHENOMENAL. They sent more food than I expected and all of the sizes were generous (example - these are not your little Frozen egg rolls. They were huge!). China One is my go-to Chinese takeout place right now. They're fast and the food is always hot and fresh. They seem to get a lot of orders that go out, so make sure you have your confirmation email or number pulled up on your phone when you go to pick up your order so they can be sure they're giving the right people the correct food - they'll probably ask for this info. My favorite menu items are the steamed dumplings and the chicken in a stick. We get them every time without hesitation. Then I usually go for something noodle based and spicy. I've never been disappointed, even when I accidentally ordered spicy seafood fried rice - it was yummy, too! The food here is so tasty I always forget to take photos. This was the Chinese place I was looking for the last time I ordered takeout Chinese. Unfortunately I ended up at a different place that doesn't compare to China One. So satisfied with this visit. The General Tso Chicken was on point. Nice and spicy like it should be. The steamed white rice was cooked perfectly. The spring rolls were very good. I couldn't resist trying the chicken sticks as the reviews were good. They did not disappoint. I ordered on the Beyond Menu app and everything on my order was accurate. There may be other places as good out there, but I would have no need to gamble on them as this would be my go to spot if I was a local. I have one more 2 week trip to Louisville coming up and if I'm in the moods for Chinese takeout this will definitely be where I come. read more

Solid, reliable Chinese food. I don't get Chinese take out often. I prefer to either cook at home or go somewhere sit-down/nicer than this. But some days....SOME DAYS....you just want something affordable and fast and tasty and all that. There are two Chinese take out places convenient to my house, and generally I think they are fairly equal in all respects. But I am also a millennial/impatient 30-something who doesn't like to wait for anything OR talk to an actual human being on the phone. And you can place your to-go order ONLINE from here (which...a quick google search tells me you can also do that for the Double Dragon on Goss as well....so...news to me!) It is located in a small strip of shops, but not one where the parking lot is riddled with abandoned shopping carts, which is a big plus. As usual, you get enough food in a single order to be able to feed a small army. It won't break the bank. You can get food with the bare minimum of human contact (if necessary). And your car (probably) won't get banged up while you run inside to grab the food. You could do better, you could do much worse. read more

An Update: 4 years since my first review here and I still LOVE this place! Admittedly, I've neglected my favorite fast food Chinese place lately. I've been spoiled by homemade Chinese food and other things that I can't find in takeout spots. Today I decided to pick up takeout. In looking at my last review, I gave them 4 stars. What was wrong with me? This is a 5-star place through and through. After glancing over other reviews, I do think results may vary. Honestly, this place is no different than most other restaurants that you love. It takes time to find your best/favorite dish. So if you didn't like it the first time, go back and order something else. Repeat. I've been through it. Some things are much better than other things but the food has always been delicious. I almost always order online and pick-up. I'm still not sure how they do it. When I started ordering from this place, I'd place my order and give it 15-20 minutes before arriving. The food was always ready to go. One time, I ordered online and made it there within 10 minutes expecting to wait for a few more minutes... the food was ready to go! Another time, I ordered while driving the short drive there... the food was still ready! I'm thinking about standing outside the entrance, ordering, and then seeing if the food is ready. Ha! Now that would be unfair but I swear I think they could do it! My go-to here: -- Orange Chicken -- White rice -- Lo mein -- Steamed dumplings If you get the full order, you can usually stretch that out for 3 or 4 days worth of meals. It's ideal for work lunches or if you want the same dinner at home for a few nights. You could even do that and split it between two people. Side notes: -- Best Chinese takeout in the city as far as I'm concerned. -- The place is set up for carryout. Went for pickup during Covid and they have completely redone the inside to be as clean as possible! There is a HUGE clear plastic barrier on the counter, with a speaker, and a slide through door for the food. Personally, we think they have the best crab Rangoon around. I work at the coffee shop next to this place. I ordered my food on yelp through grubhub so it would be ready when I was ready to take my break at work. I got the general tso Chicken (my favorite) lunch combo, which came with the chicken, fried/steamed rice and a vegetable/chicken roll! It was so yummy and the staff was super sweet! Next time I'm working at this location I will be stopping in for lunch/dinner! The lunch combo is definitely enough food for two meals. We live in walkable distance to China One so it is an obvious choice for us, but I had no idea it would be SO GOOD! We've ordered several dishes and each has been solid. House Lo Mein, Chicken on a Stick, Hot & Sour Soup, and Dragon & Phoenix were among our favorites. Chicken on a stick has never been my "go-to" but we ordered it for our 5 year old and I got a taste. With a clean seating area and good service, China One is already ahead of the game as far as Chinese restaurants go. I've only had the lunch special (my typical order is shrimp with mixed veg over white rice, with a spring roll, for under $6), and it's decent (and a substantial amount of food). I like that I can ask for "less oil", that's it's actually an option on the register, and that it's taken seriously. Docking a star for a bit of inconsistency, as the vegetables are sometimes overcooked a little, and as the sauce seems to vary a bit in terms of consistency and flavor. Still, I've yet to have a bad meal here. read more
