This is a hidden gem in Detroit, located behind The Siren Hotel. It's also our second time at this establishment. The place is super cool, the bartender 'Wolf' makes an awesome Bourbon Mule. His service and our time there was exceptional. The next time we are near the area, we will be back.

Loooooooved it! We had so much fun & were amazed by the list of songs! The crowd was fun. The piano player was so talented. The service was good...and they even had a decent Chardonnay ;) I will definitely go back!

My friend and I had a ball at Sid Gold's! We were looking for something fun and unique to do after going to dinner nearby, and live music karaoke is right up our alley. We made a reservation even though it was a Wednesday night, and the room is pretty small so I would recommend making one. Unfortunately, ahead of our visit we received some off-putting texts detailing all the rules (like 2 hr limit) so I admittedly went into it with low expectations, however we didn't end up having any problems. Perhaps they are more strict on the weekends or we just had a good hostess - either way, I'll definitely be back for more good times! The piano player was awesome and the room felt more like a little community with everyone singing along and laughing together. My friend and I tried a few cocktails (e.g., espresso martini, Hemingway daiquiri, etc.) but they're pricey and just ok. Go instead for the music & good times!

I've never felt cooler than when I was here. First thing I knew, I was enjoying a great cocktail in a tiny bar that had great style. Next thing you know, our group is being ushered into the back karaoke room where apparently EVERYONE had the talented voice of a Broadway performer. My first thought was "do I deserve to be here?" and then I just straight up enjoyed and soaked in everyone else's mad singing skills (shout out to most of the people I was with who casually stormed the stage and then brought the house down. No big deal, right? This place seriously is such a blast. The sofas were velvety, the drinks strong and the talent mighty. No one who sang was bad and it felt like attending a show that I didn't even have to pay for. It's a small room and feels intimate, so we got to congratulate other singers and really get involved and cheer for people. Definitely returning when I come back to Detroit!

Love this sign. Look for it in the alley.

A great way to spend the some quality time with friends and reconnect with your vocal chords. I really love the layout of this piano karaoke bar. It's broken into two sections. The first one is a small lounge with a large u-shaped bar to sit at. The other section is the dark karaoke bar. They are both sectioned off so you can't hear what's happening in the adjacent rooms. You have to make a reservation before you can enter the karaoke section of the bar. Which I like, this keeps it from getting over crowded and so loud you can't hear the person singing. No reservation, no singy. During our visit, John was our piano player and he was awesome! Great voice, amazing on the piano and if you got lost or forgot the words, my man would step in and start singing to get you back on track. They had a special holiday cocktail list while I was where, but I stayed with my old stand by, vodka soda. Not a huge fan sugary drinks. I could see hanging out here once in a while, but I don't think this would be my weekly hang spot. But if you've never been here, you should experience it at least once.

We did date night at Sid's last night. The show was $10pp and worth it. We had fun. Emil (my man) brought in a bucket of finger licking good chicken from Penny Reds across the street and I had 2 glasses of Prosecco. By the by im quite picky about bubbly and the house Prosecco was dry and not sweet. I liked it very much. The 20's are definitely back in Detroit and I couldn't be happier to be alive right now. The energy is there. It's exciting not quite as decadent as 1920 but it's a fun time. The city was happening and snow was falling. Walking into Sid's was a throw back experience. Burlesque is erotic and raunchy and I liked it. The performance turned me on, made me laugh and was engaging. Check out burlesque at Sids. Bring a date.

The ambiance was great, the music was enjoyable, and we also had great seats. There is a $25 cover charge, which was added to the bill. The food was very good. I ordered red wine, which paired nicely with the tenderloin tips. We also had the Brussels sprouts and the shrimp & grits, everything was well-seasoned and delicious. One thing worth noting is the restroom location. The ladies room requires going up the stairs along the stage, while the men's room is located downstairs. When returning, you have to walk back across the side of thr stage and down a few steps. Unfortunately, as the musician was moving backward, I was trying to walk to the stairs and I ended up tripping and slightly twisting my ankle. Thankfully, I wasn't seriously injured, just a lil sore the next day; but it did feel a little hazardous. Not sure if the stairs had lighting on it or a rail. But, overall it was a great experience, and I would definitely return and I'll be more careful navigating the stairs from the stage area.

Note, they will charge a $20-30 cover fee for performances! I arrived definitely like 20 minutes late and there was no problem, luckily I was sat right at a quaint little table at the bar. There was a candle lit on my table, it was so cute and classy! The place was very dark, so you know, there was no awkward moment of me walking in in front of everyone. I just shimmied in, got a mocktail and enjoyed an amazing night of jazz. I didn't try the food yet but in terms of vibes, GO! I don't see any reason not to. Treat yourself to a solo date this year with some good music, kind service, and tasty drinks!

Food is ok, my friend has been here years ago and he said the food use to me so delicious but now it's not. There was no season on the fried and strong taste of vinegar in the cabbage. The live music was very good and relaxing to us. The environment was was great. One of the entertainers has worked with Aretha Franklin in previous years. This lounge has been open for 91 years. The music part is the best. Lastly, it is highly priced. $25 per person to attend, food price and high cocktail price. I really want to come back again for the wonderful music entertainment.

A…read morefriend recommended Bakers Keyboard Lounge, which is located outside the urban core in a predominantly black neighborhood, making it a safe and authentic option for us. The outside of the building is a classic 1950s typographic dream. The entrance is sort of hard to find, but a well-worn truck with the name of the restaurant/lounge was on the front of it. When you walk in, you are in the lounge area. We were warmly greeted and were seated in the main seating area next to the stage. The booth was for two, but small, but it was ok. Their drinks list is predictable, and their menu is a cross between a supper club and soul food. I ordered the T-Bone steak with green beans and potatoes and then the fried perch. The food is solid, and that is OK. What was fun was the entertainment. A house band played a cross between disco, funk and jazz and it all worked. The vibe in the restaurant was great. There is a $15 cover charge and they also charge a 10% gratuity no matter how large the party. It was $130 for two. I highly recommend this great location.

Michael was our lead piano player and MC, and he did a PHENOMENAL job. Guests were up and dancing all night, and he did a great job as the MC. He was professional, funny, on-point, and made sure the music was appropriate for our venue and all-ages crowd. He added fun touches like having the groomsmen dance the YMCA in costume, playing college fight songs, and otherwise making the entire a night a fun, energetic party. This was not your standard show like at a bar. The show was completely geared towards a wedding, and getting people up on the dance floor dancing and singing. After the wedding many of our guests contacted us to say how much they loved the pianos--it seems like the music was by far everyone's favorite part about our reception! Leading up to the wedding the company did a great job about keeping in touch and making sure we were all on the same page and had the plan sorted out. In the weeks ahead of the wedding Bridget made sure to get our schedule and get our music choices figured out. Michael called me a few days in advance and walked me through the plan to make sure he knew what we wanted and knew how to pronounce all the names. He clearly knew exactly what he was doing, so I knew I was in good hands. The day of everything went off without a hitch, and everyone had a great time.
