We reserved a space for my husbands birthday. They put us upstairs in the corner which was absolutely perfect! We are away from traffic and was able to social distance ourselves from others. Our server Riley was Phenomenal!! She handled us well considering we were a large party and she was alone. The staff was great! I love that they clean the poles and you have to get them from the cashier. The drinks were great! I had the Sunset and the Cherry Limeade and both had great ratio of alcohol. This was my first time here and I really enjoyed myself! The food was typical Bar food so nothing to scream about but typical good bar food. I do think this is a great place for various occasions. I am unsure how the main floor was in terms of spacing tables and customers. We were away from it all. Overall I look forward to returning maybe for a date night!

My teammate told me not to Yelp about this place and kept telling me this place was good. Well, I felt like I should Yelp about this place anyways. I think the worry was me writing a bad review then nobody wants to go there for a team lunch. My reviews were based on what I thought my entire experience was. It just happened to be not so good in the last place we had a team lunch at another place I won't mention. Anyways, I came here with my teammates for a team lunch on a Friday. The place was empty but there were a lot of tables as well as pool tables. The menu had a lot of items that sounded great so it was hard for me to decide what to order. I was about to order one of burgers then decided to order the Chicken & Steak Fajitas ($14.99 for both chicken and steak, $11.49 for chicken, and $12.49 for steak). Everybody else on my team ordered various things on the menu, but I'm not sure what they were exactly (probably burgers and sandwiches). While we waited for our food to come, some of us went to shoot pool and others just talked with each other. Their pool tables were in okay shape, because I saw part of the table's felt had a rip in it. I guess someone was doing masse shots on the pool table; however, I didn't see any signs that said you couldn't do those types of shots. Our food came out all at the same time. Mine came out last because of the hot plate. The amount of steak and chicken and others on the hot plate was a lot and there were about 5 tortillas. I tried to jam pack each one with as much food as possible but still ended up eating the meat with my fork. I did notice the steak was a little too well done; however, I thought the chicken was pretty good. Overall, good place for some food and for some pool.

When we walked in and it wasn't very crowded so we were able to get a table pretty fast on the selection for happy hour drinks is very few they mostly just have beers. Stephanie was our waitress and I ordered a cherry limeade it wasn't that strong it taste like him more grenadine in it then anything but it's for Stephanie she was great she checked Anna several times while we were here .4 and we really had a nice time there was a tournament going on. So even with that going on I still wasn't that crowded or hard to get a table so I enjoyed myself not my first time here so as you can see I've been back

    The food didnt last long...ijs

Sto]ed by for a quick snack and tried the 5 pocket which consisted of:mozzarella sticks, wings, chicken strips and fried mozzarella. Our bartender kept the drinks flowing and was very kind. The pool hall was partially occupied and people were coming in more as I left. Sunday has $10 pool so will be back for that.

We started with the goat cheese fondue appetizer, which was rich, flavorful, and a great way to kick off the meal. I also ordered the Passion Mare cocktail, which was refreshing and paired well with lunch. Service was a little slow when we first arrived, but once things got moving, everything was smooth. The food was good, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the location couldn't have been more convenient since it was just a short walk from our hotel. A solid option if you're staying nearby or looking for a nice lunch spot before an event.

The MAI TAI, ENVY OF ALL & the white SANGRIA were all tasty, but at $18 a piece, they should have been spectacular. Taste/presentation did NOT warrant the price tag. We are always delighted to see a WEDGE SALAD on the menu & it was just what you expect in a wedge, which never disappoints, but croutons were unnecessary. Unusual the house dressing was a peppercorn ranch for an Italian restaurant, which was heavy for the MIXED GREENS salad. The CAESER was a winner for my 16 year old son. My 91 year old mother, enjoy the CHEF SOUP, which was turkey & rice... this is high praise for one who always has soup and typically finds fault. The CHICKEN PICCATA was meh. I know this is a safe dish for people to order, but this version had no zest, choose something else. The CHICKEN CARBONARA was served with the egg yolk in the center so you stir it into the hot pasta to cook it. My son loved this presentation, made it fun and most importantly DELICIOUS. Our BEST dish was the BRAISED BONELESS SHORT RIB! When we return to KCMO, we'll definitely reorder this dish and sample some of the others. For dessert we shared the COCONUT BANANA CRÈME PIE... too bad it had whipped cream and not baked merengue.

The service continues to be inconsistent at best--no patio service, long waits, and a general lack of attentiveness--but what's most frustrating is the latest beverage and menu decision. You can no longer order a single glass of wine. Instead, guests are now forced into purchasing a half bottle as the minimum entry point--starting around $25--for a very limited and underwhelming selection (Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc... and that's about it). No Pinot Grigio, no variety, no flexibility. Just a forced upsell on mediocre wine in a casual, outdoor setting. Let's be clear: You can order a single beer. You can order a single cocktail. But you cannot order a single glass of wine. In 2026, that's not just outdated--it's completely out of touch. This approach eliminates choice, discourages responsible and casual consumption, and frankly alienates a large portion of your customer base. What if someone wants just one glass? What if they want to try two different wines? That experience is gone. And the reasoning doesn't hold up. If this is about waste or throughput, there are countless modern solutions--by-the-glass preservation systems, or even high-quality boxed options like Black Box Wines that maintain freshness without forcing customers into higher spend. This feels less like a thoughtful strategy and more like a blunt, revenue-driven decision that ignores the guest experience entirely. So here's the question for leadership: Who is making these menu and beverage decisions--and how does this align with the kind of experience you claim to offer? Because from a guest perspective, this isn't hospitality. It's restriction. I'd genuinely like to hear a response from the team on this. Until then, this is a complete veto for me.

With Restaurant Week kicking off, my wife and I finally headed down to NKC to check out this longtime local favorite - a bar, bistro and sports memorabilia museum all rolled into one. When you walk in, prepare for sensory overload. The walls and ceilings are packed with hundreds of college and pro football helmets, banners and framed memorabilia. Heck, there's even a Babe Ruth autographed baseball. It's equal parts sports bar and museum. I honestly wished they had an app or QR codes you could scan to learn the backstory behind everything. It feels a little awkward wandering around staring at the walls while nursing a beer, but there's so much to take in. We made a reservation, but it quickly became clear one wasn't necessary that night. A few patrons were at the bar, and a handful of tables were occupied in the side dining room. The vibe was relaxed and unhurried - easy to settle in and enjoy the experience. The menu is broad and familiar, with just about any bar-food craving covered. Our server recommended the deep-fried portobello mushrooms and fried pickles. We were in an onion ring mood, so we went that route. They arrived hot and crispy - solid and satisfying, though not especially memorable. In hindsight, I wish I'd ordered the loaded potato skins, which are an all-time favorite of mine. For entrees, the burger and sandwich lineup is strong, and the prices are refreshingly reasonable. The London Broil and KC Strip both looked excellent and tempting enough to justify a return visit. I opted for something lighter and ordered the Super BLT, which turned out to be a standout. The thick-cut applewood-smoked bacon was the star - perfectly cooked and loaded with flavor. Kayla, our server, was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and made us feel right at home. Between the food, the memorabilia and the laid-back atmosphere, Chappell's feels like one of those places you wonder how you overlooked for so long - especially if you're a sports fan.

Being a national chain probably is one reason that I've avoided when there are so many locally owned options in NKC. Two co-workers and I stopped in at 9:45pm on a Friday and the place was very empty; not a good sign for a place that advertises itself as a beer and pizza joint. I skipped both and ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger Roll off their limited time menu - sort of a hybrid between a pinwheel appetizer and a calzone. Served straight from the oven, the crust was crunchy with a gooey savory interior and the spicy dipping sauce made it even better. Four of the large pieces filled me up and allowed me to take 2 home for later. My coworkers mini pizza and calzone looked good and the staff were pleasant, so I will keep Old Chicago on my list for a return visit. Next time I Uber to NKC to brewery/bar hop, I might just start here since they have a ton of beer options including lots of KC and midwest options.
