These boys saved my keister and that ain't noooo lie. I was driving up to Devon from the west loop to hang around, check out some stores and all of a sudden my car starts driving really strange. I pull over, the rear driver side tire is like completely shredded. I quickly put the jack on and swap the wheel out for the donut. I figure I'll worry about all this when I get home, because I have really unique wheels, that require special tires. We go about our day, a couple hours later, about to return home, all of a sudden, similar experience, I get out, check the donut, seems fine, walk around, and the front passenger tire is almost completely flat! I panic, rush to a filling station and air it up, only it won't hold any air, there's a perfect slit on the side, leaking all of the air out! I'm frantic because I've already used my only spare and my tires are very unique! On top of that I can't really get it anywhere on this flat, so tow it? But where? I frantically search for tire shops in the area, mind you this is at 5:45 on a Sunday! The first place is about to close and they don't have that tire and doubt they could order. The second, was Sidney, they said they have a used on in stock but they've closed early for the day. I beg them to help me and they agree. I fill up my tire with enough air to get 4 blocks down the street. I wait for about 15 minutes and one guy shows up! He replaces the font tire with a pretty respectable used tire! A second guy shows up, says he can look into getting me a new tire, next day! I pay and tip for the first, leave a deposit for the second, and the next day I came back and was all changed up! Went in with my high mileage Toyota to check on source of a rear tire leak. I knew I also had extra wear on a front tire. Besides finding the imbedded nail causing the leak they pointed out that I was in dire need of an alignment. I received a great deal on 2 quality tires for the front. Since 2013 I've gotten 2 screws stuck in 2 different vehicle tires. Sidney Tire and Wheelz repaired both of them. The first time I lived just down the street, so I drove over and they pulled off the leaking tire, showed me the damage, then repaired it. I was on my way in less than 15 minutes. I think it was 12 bucks or something. The plug lasted for at least 2 more years, maybe longer. The car was leased and I had to return it. Earlier this week I got another screw stuck in a tire on a different car. I've moved since 2013 and I'm living a couple miles away now, but I remembered the excellent service at Sidney, so I took my car there again. Just as before, I drove in, they removed the tire, showed me the screw and had it repaired and back on my car in about 10 minutes. The owner is always happy to help and is super friendly and unlike other places is always willing to help in anyway possible. Just discovered a screw in the front left tire of my newly purchased car. Called Just Tires and priced a patch at $35, then my neighbor recommended Sidney Tires. Pulled into the repair area in back, got in immediately, and within ten minutes, had a patched tire for $10. These guys were fast, friendly, and sold me 3 fantastic used tires for a great price. I even asked if they could balance them, and the guy explained that he could, but I probably didn't need it - then when I was like, OH, maybe it's the alignment, he again patiently explained the difference and offered to do it for a good price - but showed me why I didn't really need it. 'Zac' and 'Joshue' were amazing in helping me at this place. If one needs used tires/rims etc. for the best prices and best durability. This is your best bet as far as I have seen thus far in Chicago. I called asking them if they could fix a bent rim from hitting a massive pothole on 'LSD,' which the crooked city of Chicago has since patched because it was really a freakin' SINKHOLE! I mean people who drive on 'LSD' Northbound and even Southbound know exactly what I'm talking about! So ridongculous!!! Any who, they asked if it was a steel rim and sure enough it was. They said no problem it would cost $15. Now I'm thinking $15 is an amazing price to fix a rim that is bent beyond belief. Lets see what they can actually do and see how long it takes etc. I come into the store two days later and within less than 15 minutes the rim banged and bent back into almost a perfect circle . He said, "check it out!" I was like, "that was my rim?" "YUP!," he responded. So, that was about 3 weeks ago. My rim is up to snuff, and is like it never happened to be quite frank. Best part was that he remembered me from the phone call and the price he quoted on the phone! The cost was ONLY $15!Boomshackalackah!!!! I happened to be in the West Ridge neighborhood on a Sunday and in need of a tire. I called about a half dozen places and all but one were either closed or didn't have my size in stock. When I arrived at the one that said they had what I needed they informed me they were mistaken, however, they suggested I go two blocks east to Sidney Tires. Sidney Tires had my size in stock (+1), used (+1), trusted brand (+1), reasonably priced (+1) and installed it quickly despite being busy (+1). They treated me like I was their best customer and this was my first time there which is a great way to get repeat business. Beware !! This place is a complete cheat and violator of state and federal rules and regulations related to personal safety and lawfully reprocessing of the tires. I bought two used tires from them. Both of them had 5-6 nails in them and they did clumsy plugging on two of them. When I drove back to home, one of the tire went complete flat. I went back and they said that there is a leak on the sidewall of the tire and plugged it ( violation of safety regulation) which can be fatal on highway speeds. When I confronted the owner of the shop, he refused to pay back my money and asked me to pay more to put another tire. Beware of this place !! life is precious and do not waste it by buying tires from here. read more
