I wish there was a zero star option. I called yesterday to make an appointment for an alignment off a friends recommendation. I made an appointment for one in the afternoon and I was told I was set for that time. So I come in, and right off the bat they are extremely unprofessional. The lady at the front desk had no idea what was going on. A mechanic came out and I asked how long the wait would be, because all their garages looked full. He said around 45 minutes. I was okay with that because I was about 20 minutes early any way. Not too bad Well I wait, then leave with a friend a little while later. I left my number with them and expected it to take maybe an hour to an hour and a half. 2 o'clock comes and goes. Then 3, then 4 and I get fed up and call them. The lady at the front desk didn't know what they were doing with my car, but in the background I could hear thy guys saying they were pulling my car into the garage right now. The lady came back to me and said it would be ready in about 45 minutes. I'm livid at this point. I dropped my car off hours ago and they're just now taking it into the garage!? Then twenty minutes later I get a call from a guy and he tells me he hasn't and won't align my car because a part is bent. Fantastic. A part I've replaced before and don't mind having to do again. But leaving me without my car all afternoon, and not getting an alignment done is ridiculous. So when I came to pick up my car from them almost five hours later, I asked, why was my car not taken in at one when I made the appointment for? His response? We don't schedule appointments. A great all around guy - - 2010-08-17 I am here on vacation from Los Angeles. I Come to visit my Uncles and Aunts and Cousins about once every 3 or 4 years, so I am by no means a local. My Uncles know Sid from entering thier customized cars in local show and shine car shows where they compete against Sid on occasion. It seems that Sid does not just own an auto shop, but he also enjoys cars as a hobby as well. Well any way.... My kids enjoy going tubing on inner tubes down the river that runs through town. So I needed a few inner tubes for me and the kids. I shopped around and found that not many tire places even sell inner tubes these days and was quoted a price from the only other tire place that had inner tubes (Big O tires) and then my Uncle remembered Sid. I called Sid out of the blue and he was 75% of what Big O wanted for inner tubes. It seems that there is a big demand for inner tubes to go tubing down this river, and its known that you can gouge the tourists (especially when they are from LA) when selling these tubes. Well Sid does not gouge us on his prices. He advised me on the best size and type of tube to use (steering me in the right direction because I was looking for too huge of a tube originally and he showed me that too big of a tube is actually not as disireable) and helped to inflate them properly. I mean this guy is just super helpful with this out of the ordinary request. While I was there picking up the tubes he mentioned that he himself was going to take his two kids (similar in age) tubing as well and suggested that we all go together as a group. Done! The kids will enjoy having other kids to play with and I will have another adult to talk to. We were to meet up with Sid at his shop, dropped a car off at one end of the river, all piled into another car and get to the other end of the river to get in. Amazing! He doesn't gouge me. helps me select the right tube, and then offers to go tubing together to help each other out with the logistics of getting on and off of the river and back to each others car. I dont think I would have gotten this kind of service any place else. read more

I was looking for a locally owned brake and undercarriage place and saw Sid's. I called them at 7:33am in the morning and the phone was answered and they had me in and out that morning for a brake bleeding (in the words of my better half, she didn't know our car was joining a cult). I dealt directly with the owner and can say he is a great guy. Buying from a locally owned business is not just more money in our local economy but often better service and friendlier faces. read more

In a bind with bad brakes and rotors on my Jeep. Driving over the pass in a day - no bueno! Had heard of Sid's through friends - headed on over. Sid immediately put me at ease, took my car out for a drive and nailed everything on the head. Had my situation under control and out the door in about an hour. Hit Twin City Surplus and Los Compadres while waiting, not bad. Reasonable price, great service and trustworthy. Huge as I am a single woman - auto issues escape me. Was referred here by Mr. Hubcap and they did not disappoint. Made an appointment for an 8 a.m. alignment and upon arrival they asked me a few questions to see if the car was pulling to one side or another. Then they asked for the keys and got it on the rack straight away. The car was aligned in less than an hour and after taking it on the freeway drove like brand new. The price was 20-30% less than all other tire chains in the area. I'll be taking all the cars here. read more

Hit or miss... I personally won't be coming back. I went to Sid's in 2013 for an alignment after getting new tires. Much like another reviewer, the steering wheel was noticeably off-center. I was initially impressed when Sid himself drove the car around and got on the ground to manually adjust the suspension (note: he manually adjusted it; the settings were never verified the alignment afterward). Long story short, it took about 3 hours to get the wheel straight, and I was given a similar "BMW's are tricky sometimes. If you bring it in, I'll check it again after a week." I chose not to bring the car back in and decided instead to live with the highway tramming and pull-to-the-side-under-hard-braking. Believing it was indeed because the car was old (2002 BMW), I thought it was normal. But hey! The steering wheel is straight! As it turns out, though, I had a 2002 Acura aligned elsewhere which has none of the problems the BMW has. As a final straw, though, the BMW was recently inspected at the dealership. The technician noted that the front-left tire is worn down 4mm more than the front-right -- a very suspicious observation, considering I KNOW Sid was manually adjusting the front end without any measurement feedback. All in all, service at Sid's appears to be hit or miss. I personally will not be coming back. read more

I was looking for a place to get my Jetta SW aligned and found Sid's through Yelp. Sid's in an old school hot rod shop that would be a fun place to go and hang out just to hear the old guys talk a la an old Barbershop. I don;t think the floors have ever been mopped and seeing the dust on everything made me know that I was in a real hot god shop. I had full faith that my car was done correctly and sure enough a little shimmy that I had when I arrived was gone after I left. read more

Sid is awesome. Honest guys who do quick and excellent work. They made my car a lot safer and now I can drive over 50mph with it aligned ha! They even gave my vehicle a test drive gratis to determine if my brakes were in need of a brake bleed. It didn't but they diagnosed some other issues I had and I am thankful for their advice. Had a personal friend who's a mechanic work on my car and replaced a tie rod end - thank to the huge construction pot hole. Called and politely asked the cost of a front end alignment (as per my Mechanic's suggestion) told 50 to 300 dollars depending on the car, Ford Taurus. I kept saying when I make the apt for, and got a smart alert remark, 'you can make it right now', Well dud, I knew that could do that on the phone. so I repeated myself in the vain attempt to schedule appt, and would you believe it I got that same snotty attitude, at that point I I figured this convo was going to go nowhere and obviously now didn't want to do business with them. So I terminated the conversation and went and call Johnson's Tire Service. Same questions asked, but a much better attitude in the response, and I made my appointment. I had an alignment job performed on my vehicle, at Sid's Alignment & Brake. When I went to pick up my car, I was told the alignment was just being completed and that the vehicle needed a test drive. After the shop owner (who also did the job) did the test drive, he concluded that my steering wheel was not straight (first step and an important part of the alignment job), and he proceeded to modify the length of the tie rods by hand, on both sides, stating that should straighten my steering wheel. He couldn't even show the results of the alignment, in the first place, saying that his printer was broken at the time. I drove the car for about 5 miles on the freeway, noticing that my steering wheel was still tilted to one side. I went back 3 times, every time Sid went ahead and by hand, without any readings or alignment tools, adjusted my tie rods back and forth, trying to straighten my steering wheel. I requested the alignment to be re-done, since this is not the correct procedure for an alignment job. He requested the payment, and told me to drive the car like that for 1000 miles, and that he would check it for free after that period. After I asked what about my new tires, in the eventuality that they would get damaged, I was answered that that would not be covered by him, but that he can guarantee, somehow, that the alignment is ok the way he did it and I shouldn't be worried. I insisted to make another appointment to redo the alignment, I offered to pay again, for another alignment, to only check the 3 angles on the wheels again, but in the case that the angles are not right, I would like to get those corrected under warranty for the first time he did it. He refused, saying that he doesn't have time and that he can call me, in a few weeks, when he might have time. I also asked if I could see the calibration documents for his alignment rack, and he could not provide that either.I DO NOT recommend this shop. I think that people that are not familiar with the alignment procedure are being ripped-off and paying for a bogus alignment that is NOT done properly. I went to a different shop that confirmed that the alignment is not right, and now I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against Sid's Alignment. read more

Its 5:45 p.m. right now. I had a blow out today on i80 and had to get my tire put on my car. Tow truck driver refers me to sids alignment and brake shop. They closed at 5:00 as we pulled in he was just about to leave. Sid walked up and asked if I needed help. I told him I needed new tires and mount. His prices are competitive. He has excellent prices on tires. But the number 1 thing ill say about him is his service and friendliness. I offered him more money since he was staying late. But the guy refused and said its ok. He was also very honest and told me I didn't need new tire and the one I have now can be fixed. Other tire store would sell you 4 instead of repairing 1 single tire.. Sid however told me. He could fix my tire and that I didn't need to buy 4. All hands up for sids in reno. I offered him extra tip but the guy said no thank you and to come back if,i had problems. Thanks sid! read more

I drove my from Montana to Reno I had break problems when I got to town. I saw that Sid's had the best reviews in Reno. That Saturday they got me in right away so that seemed good. They told me I had a bad master cylinder after driving it around the block. They quoted me $220 to fix it and that it would take an hour. After 3 hours I was still waiting for it to be fixed. When the guy finally came back with the part it took 10 min to put in. I went to pay Sid and the price went up $100. I reluctantly paid. I was driving to my destination and realized it was not fixed, it was no different than when I brought it in. I had to leave it at the house. I brought it in the following Monday and again I was told its a bad master cylinder but I would not have to pay for another one, this seemed fishy to me but I went ahead and let them try to fix it again and just as the day they first worked on it I waited 3+ hours for the work to be done. I left to head back to Mt hoping it would be ok. As I was leaving town it was the same as it was when I first brought it in, no change. I had no choice but to risk it and drive home. I feel as though I was deceived and now that I'm in Mt I have to go to another break shop and actually have the breaks fixed. I assumed that with 5 stars Sid's would be the right choice, I thought wrong! I would never go there I think all the previous reviews are fake and hope no one else gets treated as I was. read more

I went to SIDS previously for my BMW had no problems everything went well. Free valve stem covers with the job went back to him about a year later with my Ford he quoted me $700 to do my upper ball joints I went to another alignment shop they only charged me 350 come on Sid I even found that boxes of tissues with your favorite team's logo on it WTF man sux because I really thought better about this place and recommended it to a lot of people but now I feel like I was being ripped off one good thing is that he did not charge me for the alignment that he did do on the Ford in hopes that I would come back and get ripped off at $700 for 2 ball joints............................................... so I take back all that I said on this Yelp come to find out he had planned on replacing all four of my ball joints upper and lower and that's what would have costed a legit $700 my bad sid sorry read more

I was having alignment issues on a lifted Sierra crew cab..... Les Schwab was unable to fix it so after reading reviews on Sid's I decided to take it there. Truck was done when promised, and fixed. Will definitley going back in the future. read more

Had my car alignment done in April 2012. Was happy with service until we almost wrecked our car 4 hours later after leaving Sids on the way to vacationing in Monterey. All the lug nuts on the tire came loose and fell off. My husband was able to tighten them. Called Sids the next day. They looked at my car and said they didn't do it. Were going to charge me over $100 to replace lug nuts. I also received to different quotes on prices one of which was from Sid himself. He was trying to get more money out of me. They fixed the car before quoting me a price so I would be stuck with the balance. They told me they would match the same lug nuts with my make and model car. They did not . They put very large ones on that look ridiculous. They smoked the whole time around me in the customer waiting area. I had two small children with me. Very unclean waiting area. Said they would take care of me before I went down there. They made matters worse and made me pay for it. read more
