Good lord, I can't recommend this place enough. I was a patron of Hats Plus on Irving Park Road, before they went of business years ago. Being in my grown-man phase, I'm making the transition from baseball caps to more...adult fare. So I stop in on a Saturday afternoon, looking for a summer hat. I leave with my summer hat and a couple of others. Their summer wear selection is on point; showing up to the BBQ with any of this on has got to be a win. This is the hat shop I have dreamt of. Huge selection of finely made hats and knowledgeable salesmen. These are not cheap, flimsy, trendy hats. These are the crafted toppers of gentlemen at fair prices. Some reviewers have commented on the hovering staff as though it were a negative thing. Hat shopping is not self service. These are beautiful creations that deserve to be handled gently and with care. It also helps to have someone familiar with the inventory suggesting other styles whether you know exactly what you want or not. And the folks at Sid's will do just that, as well as making sure the size is right for you. I went in to browse. My intention was to purchase 1 hat. Borsalino's are not cheap, but short of maybe getting a custom made hat, you're not fully styling without one. I have a Dobbs Panama hat that I picked up at Brownstone Antiques years ago and I had worn the thing until it had seen better days. When I looked up where I could get a new one Sid's came up. It took me forever to get down there but my god, when I did, I couldn't have been happier. Sid's feels like a time capsule--in a great way. It takes you back to a time when customer service was incredible and their selection of hats would rival any online store. They must have several hundred different types of hats in the shop. I got helped by a younger guy who has been there for a few years. He knew the history of all the hat makers (who knew that Dobbs is owned by Stetson?!). I wanted to get an exact replacement for what I had, but I ended up leaving with 2 slightly different Panama hats... and there's a third that I really want to go back to get soon. One is a Mayser--a well respected German brand--and the other is a Capas from Honduras. I can't wait to visit Sid's again! Even if it's out of the way for you, it's worth the trip! read more

I am from and I live 5 hours away in Detroit, Michigan; I placed my order for two hats in the morning on Monday Feb. 17, and the next day (not even a full 24 hours later) I received my hats on my front doorstep. I was pleasently surprised with the shopping experience at Sids. I was amazed by the large amount of hats and caps they carry from around the world. They had the large amount of Kangol's in store which were pretty competitively priced compared to other stores. The atmosphere at Sids was much different than compared to going to a regular Mall. Immediately when I entered, I was embraced by warmth and humor by the Workers at Sids. While they were knowledgable they always kept me laughing and enjoying my shopping experience. I was surprised to see they carried much more than hats. They had some nice casual clothes and some outerwear. Overall, my experience was great at Sids.
