I agree that their prices are a but high but you get what you pay for. Here you have knowledgeable, patient, helpful staff to help you with any questions. They aren't just some teenagers working here who know nothing about plants. They will help you even if you don't know anything about plants. They have a huge variety of plants, many of which you won't find at other garden centers. Also, they have a one year guarantee on all plants and flowers. That alone is worth a few extra dollars. I reside in Florida, and I wanted to send flowers (same day) to a dear friend. I usually order through Pro Flowers, but I wanted to make sure the flowers would be delivered same day, so I wanted to speak with a local florist over the phone. When I called, the woman who took the call was wonderful. She was able to answer all my questions and made sure she had the flowers in store to complete the arrangement that I wanted to order. Last Wednesday, May 27th, 2009, I made many attempts to order a Corsage for my niece online, who was graduating from 8th grade this day. Many florists online required me to place the order 24 hours in advance. I decided to try a local Florist near my niece's house so I could have the flowers delivered fast. I came across Sid's Greenhouse Center & sent an e-mail to ask if they could expedite my flower order over the phone. A representative responded via phone within 15 minutes, & took my order immediately. They saved the day! My niece received her 'Corsage" that same night right before she left to attend the ceremony. We got married in October of 2016 and we LOVED our flowers from sids. We working with Rita and she was amazing!! I recommend her to everyone I know getting married. They were way cheaper than any of the other places I went to. Rita was so great, she sat with me and my mom and really listened to what I wanted, then she showed me a lot of options because I wasn't too sure exactly what flowers I should use. There were 2 flowers I knew I wanted and she created this beautiful idea around those two. There was one flower I wanted and she was very upfront that it was an expensive flower, especially because it was not in season. She then took that style of flower and found something similar and more in my price range. I seriously could go on forever about how great sids was. There was not one problem! Ordered flower which were never delivered. They contacted me and left a message. I called back immediately. No voicemail or answering so no place to leave a message. Never contacted me angina and never delivered flowers. When I expressed my discontent the owner hung up on me but not before discrediting people with special needs. I love a good garden center! Stopped in at Sid's last week and it really makes me wish I had a yard. They have an excellent selection of annuals and perennials, but what I fell most in love with was the magnolia trees. They had at least three different colors and seemed to be reasonable. I will be back when the time comes to replenish my planter box. read more

I actually used the Sid's Florist that closed in Bolingbrook/Romeoville and is now operating out of Palos Heights, and I worked specifically with Gaye. She was wonderful. I went through a process in trying to find a florist, thought I found one and after no response for 2 months, had to search for a new one with three/four months lost of my planning! Gaye was the second florist my mom and I met with and she won us over pretty much immediately. She was filled with fabulous ideas and excitement. She was attentive to everything we were saying, taking our views/ideas and vision into consideration and expanded on it. We mentioned wanting to alternate centerpieces on the table and on the spot she gave us the ideas we ended up doing at the reception. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted in my bouquet, I had all my colors and flowers picked out and did not want ANY white. I wanted fun, colorful, bright etc and Gaye said she would do whatever I want, was very understand and not at all pushy, but lightly suggested how nice it would look to add in a few ivory flowers to match my dress. She convinced me and my bouquet was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen for a bride, hands down. She knows what she is doing and I could not have been more pleased with how all of my bouquets turned out. My bridesmaids were all Gerber daisies and each one was full, sturdy and bright/colorful. The mother's bouquets were gorgeous and stayed the longest. I received SO many compliments on the bouquets. The centerpieces were two floating gerbs and lanterns with an arrangement on the top, everyone loved them. They were the perfect sizes, perfect colors, just what I wanted and didn't even know until Gaye put it in front of me! My ONLY complaint - which is why Sid's gets a 4/5 stars is that I also ordered two large arrangements for the alter at my church. They cost a little over $150 and were not very full. It had more green filler than flowers, looked sloppy and thrown together instead of 'arranged'. The colors were what I wanted so the photos at the church weren't ruined. I just would have liked bigger, fuller, more flowers. Overall, I would have Gaye be my florist again in a heartbeat. She was great about ideas, great about working with the venue and making sure the room looked great. I just wish I could have my bouquet forever! read more

I am a physician and own an office building near Sids. Our building's landscaping was also done by Sids. My experience with Sids when ordering trees for my own house has been a nightmare. The sales staff are friendly and helpful, but the manager is EXTREMELY rude. When we went back for warantee replacement for trees that we bought last year, we were practically treated like criminals.
