I really wanted to love the tux for my wedding, but it was okay at best. I'm tall and have a slim figure, so admittedly, I'm not the easiest customer to fit a suit to. When the tux came, it looked baggy and not long enough at the bottom, and the fabric quality was not as high-end as I'd hoped. They refused to tailor it and said they were only able to adjust the sleeve length. The tux would have been usable in other circumstances, but since I was the groom, it looked unacceptable. I ended up rushing an order at SuitSupply, which, thankfully, delivered above and beyond. Another issue with my rental was the studs in the tux shirt fell out too easily. The shirt wasn't specifically a studs shirt - it had buttons sewn in on the inside and was made to work with studs and buttons interchangeably. Unfortunately, this made the holes too big for the studs. I could not have walked around all day, let alone dance, without them falling out. I talked to Bruce, the owner, afterward - he was apologetic and promised to give me a partial refund for the miss. I reminded him twice over the last 6 weeks, but I still haven't received my refund. read more

My husband has never worn a tuxedo. It was always a suit and tie for different occasions. However, this occasion is a special one. It is a 52/52 reunion for my high school class. We couldn't have a 50 year reunion two years ago due to COVID. Thus, our reunion is 52 years out of high school and most of my classmates were born in 1952. Also the Class of '70 is 70 years old. A search on yelp for men's formal wear resulted in two businesses in Oakland. One in the Fruitvale Station Shopping Center and Siegel's Tuxedo. Perusing some of the reviews of both businesses, my husband and I decided on the latter over the former. We are glad we made the right decision based on what yelpers had written about Siegel's. Facial mask is required upon entering this business. The owner/gentleman who assisted us was very professional and approachable. We told him what the occasion was. He showed us his catalog and recommended the classic look. Husband liked that classic look. Measurements were done and the rental suit will be ready for pick up next Thursday morning. I highly recommend this business for rental of men formal wear. The price is reasonable and the owner is one cool "brutha" who knows what class is. I *hate* formalwear because I almost never look good in a suit, but there comes a time in every man's life when he must suit up. Bruce had me lookin' 007 sharp for my friend's wedding! Being me, I put off renting a suit until the very last minute, but Bruce is a real one and took care of me. We flipped through a lookbook of different suits together, and based on my body type, I went with an ultra slim navy suit, which cost ~$200 for the weekend. Bruce took my measurements and sent me on my way. Turnaround time was relatively quick (two business days if I remember correctly). I came in the day of and it fit like a dream! Came in 2 weeks before the wedding event. Said I would need it by the day before the event. Bruce has me try on a suit and only measures my waist. Says he can definitely get it on time. I call the next day saying I think it would be a good idea to try and get it 2 days before the event. He says he'll call me the coming Monday. Monday, no call back. I call Tuesday and he says he's not worried about it. So I think okay I trust his judgement. Says he'll call me the next Monday. Next Monday comes, no call back. I call Tuesday and he says he'll call me Wednesday morning with an update. I told him I'm actually the best man at this wedding so I'm feeling like the timing is getting too tight. Wednesday comes, no call back. I decide to just walk in on Thursday and talk to him in person cause the wedding is Saturday. I walk in, he's just sitting looking at his phone. Says he's sure it'll come in today (Thursday) or Friday (day before wedding) and he can check tracking if it doesn't come in today. Why not check tracking while I'm here?? He already didn't call me back 3 times. At this point I decide to go to mens wearhouse. Bought a suit same day. Got pants altered and picked them up Friday at a laundromat. He did call back on Thursday to say he checked tracking and was expecting it that evening. "Sorry bruce it's cutting it too close." Also I'm surprised he actually called back. Friday I'm running errands driving past his shop 2 times. I happen to see him sitting outside on the bench just watching cars go by. Bruce is a very nice guy. But get a clue on sense of urgency and call back when you say you will. So stressful not knowing if I'll get my suit on time as a Best Man. You'd think ordering it 2 weeks in advance would be enough time. It wasn't even a custom suit being shipped. read more

I had a last minute death in the family and needed to fly cross country in less than a week and I realized that I didn't own a suit for the service. I originally went to a retailer that makes custom fitting suits, and paid for rush shipping to arrive before my flight. Unfortunatly, that company missed the shipping date and I realized it wouldn't make it in time. Now with even less time, I went to Siegel's hoping for a last minute rental. The process was super easy, they hooked me up with everything I needed, and within two days I had what I needed in my hands. The suit itself was super comfy and looked great / appropriate for the occasion and the jacket fit wonderfully. I was interested to find that pants had a mechanism where I could adjust it to my size. I was a little nervous because he said I didn't need to try it on before I left the shop, but day of the memorial fit without any hasstle! If purchasing, I would have preferred pants that were slightly more tailored to my specific body and sense of style, BUT for a rental done in less than 2 days - it was perfect. I tried to support a local small business and regret it now. 10 of my boys got fitted a month before the wedding and we were guaranteed that when our tux came in we would be able to make any needed adjustments. He calls us 3 days before the wedding to come try them on and they had most of us looking like we had shoulder pads and parachute pants. His measurements were soooo far off smh. Then his response was "i cant adjust those sizes" We ended up renting new suits from Mens warehouse. It was CHEAPER and WE GOT IT THE NEXT DAY!!! Bruce is so friendly but sometimes I wish he were more professional. We always get tuxes from Siegel's for our sorority's Formal, and he comes to measure all our new members' dates and then drops them off at the next dress rehearsal. I go ahead and schedule a fitting during one of our waltz practices. He promises to call the day before, but that doesn't happen. Oh well, probably tomorrow, then. I don't get a call the next day, and I anxiously call around afternoon. No pick up, so I leave a voicemail. The girls and their dates get together, and we wait around for a call. Nothing. Just as we start practicing, I get a call from Bruce that he's on his way and that he needs 30 more minutes to get there. Okay... Everyone gets measured and pays. Bruce tells me that he will deliver them to our dress rehearsal this Friday, as he has been. The day of the dress rehearsal comes up, and once again I do not get a call. I call the tux shop, I call all the numbers he has given me, but again no one picks up. I begin panicking and make plans to head to the shop tomorrow to pick them up myself. The next morning, at 8am Sat, before their company store hours, Bruce calls me (wakes me up actually, since we practiced until 2am that day) and tells me he will deliver the tuxes in an hour. An hour passes. Still no tux. Late again. Okay. This is pretty (bleep) ridiculous. If I get called 8am and tuxes are supposed be here by 9am, then why the (bleep) am I going to miss my 11am appointment because no tuxes have arrived? I appreciate his enthusiasm and his friendliness, but I wish he had called me earlier if there were any changes to when he could deliver it. Because the dates did not receive their tuxes in time, everyone now has to get to the event an extra 30 minutes beforehand in order to account for the time to get ready. Let it be said that I am not shaped with a tuxedo in mind. I'm getting married Friday and I wanted to wear a tux. I went into Siegel's a couple a weeks before and the gentleman there measured me and assured me that he could fit me into a tux with tails (it is a different cut) and that it would all be fine. Well it came in yesterday and he was right. He is going to hem the cuffs of the jacket (pants are already done) and he's going to loan me shirt studs too. He's giving me an extra day to bring it back so I don't have to race in the next day when we are having the reception. I was treated well and the guy knows what he is doing.
