The food was so good I know German food and I am so picky. One of my favorite local spots. Definitely call for a reservations because they are very limited on seating. Last night we ended up with a table outside which was actually perfect because it was a beautiful cool night. Our waiter was extremely attentive and nice, everyone who works there is! The food is excellent. We started with the meat and cheese plate, got the portion for one and it was plenty for two people. I had the bratwurst plate with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. They always give really big portions and everything is made from the food truck they have in the back, so impressive! Ask for a side of yellow mustard, they import it from Germany and it's so freaking good. Dessert was kuchen which rotates, tonight was Black Forest cake. Light and fresh and not too sweet. A perfect huge slice for two people. My bf got the radler (beer with sprite) and I had the schöfferhoffer pomegranate beer, both were delicious. Wow!! I'm from a city with tons of German heritage and lots of german festivals and multiple restaurants, but this place blows them all away!! Siegfried's is so fabulous. Everything is freshly made and as light as German food can be!! Kim and Renee, the owners are the cutest and sweetest couple and work their tails off. The beer and wine selection is also authentically German and made this German girl so happy!! The beer garden is a real gem... peaceful under giant trees with a very gentle sunset. This place is worth the trip up from Siesta Key during rush hour!! Be sure to get reservations and wear your Thanksgiving stretchy pants!! Our first time in. Had a group of 10 of which 5 are German. Everything everyone ordered was authentic and outstanding! My husband had the chicken schnitzel, I tried the veal schnitzel and I ordered the braught worst that came with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes which were homemade an absolutely excellent. Oh my Munchen...we were just transplanted back to Deutschland by our dining experience at Siegfried's German Restaurant in Sarasota. We were blessed to be seated at the gazebo table which was encased with some type of flowering vine. We started with a massive bretzel and spicy mustard and then tha main entrees. What an amazing little place. From the moment I called a day in advance, to make a reservation, to when we left (after a fantastic meal), the service and friendliness was incredible. We had the Grillhaxe (a Friday's special -Friday is Hock Day-) and I can attest that this was the best Haxe I have ever had outside of Germany. It was delicious. Fresh and crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. Exactly how it should be. The mashed potatoes were freshly made (with bits of bacon- yummy) and the Sauerkraut was great as well. The inside of the restaurant is cozy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Fresh roses decorate the table and a little candle is lit for you when the waiter greets you. The Biergarten was nicely setup and the trees provide enough shade to enjoy a delicious meal and/or a fresh Bitburger (German beer). The very friendly owners, a young German couple from Mönchengladbach, opened this place two years ago. They prepare the food fresh every day and you can taste it. You can feel the love for food and the dedication in every bite. We were watching other enjoying their Schnitzels and Rheinischer Sauerbraten and everybody was smiling and commenting about the delicious taste of their meals. Authentic German food?! I think not! The wiener schnitzel is greasy, the spatzle has absolutely no flavor and is in little clumps. You have to pay $5 extra for spatzle and $5 extra a tiny bit of gravy that should always be accompanied with a meat dish in a large quantity to go with the spatzle at no charge. The service is awful!!! We sat for a long time to be noticed. Staff forgot my up charged gravy and my wine with dinner. They never checked in with us, we had to track them down. We had tickets to the symphony. The atmosphere is terrible! You cannot hear yourself think or have a conversation because it is so loud in there. The front door is locked with a sign to go around back?! Many people were confused. I am German, have lived in Germany, my German grandparents cooked for me growing up in our German community. I lived in the DC area as well as Tampa and frequently went to German restaurants there and they were outstanding. Not sure what all the good reviews are about. Must be from Americans who enjoy greasy fried food, potato salad and tasteless spatzle that have never had real German food. Bring your readers for the tiny black menu. You can basically order steak, schnitzel and brats. The wine is limited and awful but the beer choices are great. I know Germans are not known for their food or wine but this place is not even serving the 3 dishes on the menu up to par and up charging for items they should not on top of that. $35 for schnitzel, warm yucky potato salad (comes with it) paid extra for gravy and spatzle?!? Ridiculous!!! We will absolutely not be back. Owners responded nasty to my review. Made reservations a week ahead for a Friday night 7pm. Glad I did because by 7:30 they were packed. Staff was very friendly. Our server's name was Rodrigo and he was friendly and helpful. I had the Wiener schnitzel with hunters sauce, The mead was pounded thin and was Perfectly tender.The meat was more battered dipped then breaded and was fried to a delicious golden crust. Two German Omas were longing for authentic German food, so we stopped by recently without a reservation (not advised). The restaurant is small and intimate yet they found a table for us in the Biergarten. We ordered the German Schnitzel, a staple of German cuisine, and were delighted with the food. Having eaten our share of schnitzels, we all agreed these were some of the best we had ever had. With imported German beer (with the perfect amount of foam), we were all very happy. Ok we drove to Sarasota to hit the Mote Marine Aquarium; afterwards we headed to Geiers Sausage Markets and got some sausage etc. I asked for their recommendation and hands down suggested this restaurant. It is a small house setting. Small bar but also has seats outside in the Biergarten. We did not have a reservation but got there early there are only about a dozen tables. So make a reservation it's worth it. I had the cheese tray for one and my daughter got the potato pancakes. Ok it was wonderful then I ordered the Viener Schnitzel which was perfect with mushroom gravy. My daughter got the brat meal and it was the bomb. We went with friends for dinner on a Wednesday evening. We made reservations for 6:30p. The restaurant is located on a busy street with parking on a large gravel parking lot next door. Lots of space. There's outside seating but we chose indoors. The seating area is small. It was crowded but we were seated quickly. It took a while to have the waitress service our table. We had to motion to her to get started. Our menu had several variations of dishes and appetizers. Toasted bread and herbed butter were brought to the table. We chose the veal - schnitzel style. It came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Our friends had a sausage dish with creamy spätzle. The gentlemen ordered large steins of Pilsner beer and the ladies had a red German wine. The bread and drinks were average. While we waited we had a difficult time having a conversation because the restaurant was very noisy. Our meals were served within a reasonable time. However, the staff was extremely busy. The dishes were not steaming but warm enough. The food was acceptable however it lacked a memorable flavor. We chose to skip dessert and coffee. Their prices would be appropriate for a quieter, more upscale restaurant. We were fed but we felt as if we had been at a roadside diner.
