I scheduled an appointment with Sieht in the Fredericksburg office location on May 5, 2026, for an appointment June 5. On May 21, I received a phone message that I needed to reschedule my June 5 appointment because the doctor was not going to be in that day. This is the most unprofessional place I have ever done business with. I had other appointments I scheduled for the same day in association with the Sieht appointment, which all relied on the eye examination to happen first. Now because of a doctor's ineptitude and incompetence, I have to reschedule the entire day. I like the eye doctor I see, but it should not take 1.5 hours to complete a straightforward annual eye checkup that involves about 10 minutes of contact time and zero complications. the checkin process is excessive and repetitive, even if you use online precheck. everything at this practice is just harder to accomplish than it should be. seriously considering changing just due to that, even though I am happy with Dr. Hayes. read more

If you value your eyes stay away from this place. I went there having trouble seeing out of my right eye. Sent to their cornea specialist. She prescribed 2 medicines. 8 days later they still hadnt gotten my medicine authorized. So i went to a better clinic, turned out not only could they not get my medicine called in the medicine would not have solved my problem. Eye consultants of nova are doing a procedure. I am writing this review b/c I had such a hard time just getting an appointment. You get an answering machine leave a message and they don't call back. Finally when they called back I missed the call and they left the same number which I called and got the same anwsering machine and they did not call back. I finally called and left a strict message and they called back. If the staff is so busy that they cannot return calls or speak to people in person the doctors need to hire more staff. I felt they overbook surgeries. Both time I was there, there was a 2hr delay. Couldn't see properly for five weeks!'

Waited 2 hours and then they cancelled, I had to go to another place to have a cataract removed. And the office is not run correctly.

Although I still think Dr. Hudson is fantastic and my cataract surgery was successful, here is some genuine advice, based on my experience: 1) Arrive on time for your appt but be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes, up to 45-60 minutes. My experience: 30-60 minute wait times for all 8 of my appts. 2) Read your portal appt notes to make sure you and the doctor have the same understanding of what transpired at your appt. My experience: A staff member put care instructions in my chart notes that she never discussed with me and I only found out by looking at the notes in the portal. After calling the office repeatedly, requesting a phone call from her to explain, she finally did. 3) Read and understand the schedule and dosage of your eyedrops for pre and post surgery right when they are handed to you. My experience: The instructions, schedule, and dosage went seamlessly with my 1st eye surgery. However, for my 2nd, I was handed instructions with different schedules and dosages. I didn't realize this for a few days and by then I was out of the country. I made a command decision to follow the same schedule and dosage as I had done with my first eye. I reported this to a technician at a follow-up appt and was told the office manager would call me about this and some of my questions/frustrations...I never got a call. Additionally, the surgeon later told me the surgical center also hands out eyedrops instructions but patients should follow the ones they receive from SEIHT. I only got one set AND it was from SEIHT AND I was never told I might receive a separate set of instructions from the surgery center. 4) Don't buy lots of reading glasses until your eyes are completely healed after cataract surgery and a doctor tells you what reading glass strength you need. My experience: One tech told me I would need the +2.50 diopters; at a later appt another one told me I needed +2.75 (after I'd already purchased multiple pairs of the +2.50). 5) Make sure you know how many appts you will need through the whole process and what is supposed to be accomplished at each one. My experience: I went to what I thought was my last appt where we discussed the surgery, my unhappiness about near-vision loss, and my need for near-vision correction options. However, I was told I needed another appt so I believed that was going to be my "final post op" appt where I would be presented with near-vision correction options. Not so. I was set up with the surgeon who performed my surgery only to rehash everything from the last appt. This could have been handled in a phone call. 6) The most important thing: BEFORE you select a specific type of cataract surgery, make sure ALL of the options, whether they are performed by these surgeons at this practice or not, whether they are covered by insurance or not, are explained to you in a clear, concise manner AND MAKE SURE you hear and understand the PROBABLE outcomes of each. My experience: I met with a tech for the eye exam and cataract surgery discussion. She immediately marked me as a standard IOL patient when I stated I only wanted what was covered by insurance BUT I did want to know the cost, etc. of the other options (thinking I might reconsider if it was affordable). By the time we finished the exam and consult, we never did discuss the other options and I was being ushered out to schedule an appt with the surgeon. I was later told by another tech ALL techs are supposed to fully explain ALL cataract services offered (whether or not you only want insurance-covered surgery) so you understand exactly what your options are. Anyway, when I met with the surgeon, I didn't know any better and didn't feel I had the luxury of time to further explore other options so I was on the standard IOL train. Reading back in my portal appt notes I see there were brief mentions of other surgeries in the Instructions Section (I was told at my last appt that section is basically standard verbiage that is inserted and the part to pay attention to (i.e., make sure you read and understand) is the section titled Assessment. So...my unhappiness with the outcome was not the cataract fix or Dr. Hudson, and I take some responsibility for things (which is why I am taking the time to write this review so you will have the benefit of my experience) but I feel I received conflicting projected outcomes regarding my sight and I guess I didn't hear I would totally lose my near vision capabilities, I just read it in the appt notes after the fact. Instructions Excerpts: "hope that the patient would have better distance and near vision after cataract surgery; still might need glasses for some activities; improved vision at distance and near (although this may still require glasses); may still need glasses for their best vision after surgery." Assessment Excerpts: "will required full time glasses for all distances after cataract surgery with the standard IOL...will lose near vision capabilities without readers after cataract surgery." read more

I have unsuccessfully tried for a year to have cataract surgery and this place keeps failing. I have literally had three pre-op appointments to have a cataract removed in my right eye and guess what - STILL no surgery. The 3rd time, the doctor didn't call to tell me he wanted to cancel until I had a retina doctor look at my left eye again. Waste of time and the $50 they want each visit. read more

I made this appointment 3 months ago because my eyes had suddenly gotten so much worse. I made my husband an appt at the same time, as he was due. (That's probably why it took so long for an appt, because we wanted to come at the same time. We are an hour and a half away from SEIHT, so it is expeditious for us to 'bundle' our appointments in town whenever we can.) I completed the online check-in for my appt yesterday. I encouraged my husband to do the same, but he declined. His appt was for 10:30, mine was for 11:00. He checked in at the kiosk when we arrived, and was called back at about 10:45. I waited, thinking the doc was busy with him, and, finally, at 11:30, I went up to the receptionist to see how much longer I'd be waiting. My husband came out just when I went to the counter. The receptionist said I was too late, and my appt would have to be changed, because I didn't check in!!?? I showed her my email confirmation that my check in was complete, but she said I HAD to check in at the kiosk, too. I said why have an online check-in if I had to check in again!!?? Bottom line, they would not see me. As I had a confirmed appt with a confirmed online check in, it seems like they might have said, 'Hmmmm...this lady's husband is here...Let's see if she is, too...' They could have called my name out loud, like they were calling everyone else's name, or they could have ASKED MY HUSBAND!!?? If they are this slow at such a simple thing as managing their appointments, I would be very concerned about the more important aspects of their business. I scheduled an appointment with Sieht apparently about a month ago. I come to my appointment and they have me sit down and wait. They call my name only to tell me my appointment was canceled and that someone should had called me on Jan. 22 to tell me. I took the whole day off from work because I work in DC. Sadly I'm not the only one it happened to today, the patient in front of me was told the exact same thing. I work in the medical field and know how to schedule and reschedule patients. I understand if something came up for the tech and wasn't able to make it but no-one called. Very bad first impression of this place. I will not be coming here. Worse eye care place I ever went to. My glasses and eyesight were secondary and Masking up was "Primary". This caused me to rush my order and get out of there soon because all they ever talked about was wearing a mask more than getting new eye wear and lenses. Pull up your mask, put on your mask, pull your mask down pull your mask up. All I heard and read everywhere was mask, mask, mask, mask. I had no choice I chose these people for my insurance company and I regretted it all year with wrong fitting and seeing glasses. Their priorities are definitely not on the Health of the patient needing new glasses. Bad experience and will never ever go back and advise the same to others. Now it is my turn. Made an appointment for my elderly mother who is in long term care. Medical transport took her there in her wheelchair, with my sister following behind. Staff refused to let my sister go with my mom to see the doctor because she didn't have a copy of the medical power of attorney with her. No way my mom could go back there without someone to speak to the doctor about the problem, but they didn't care. Mom had to leave without seeing the doctor. Horrid office management and staff. Find someplace else if you can. read more

I had a routine eye exam scheduled for today. I have Medicare, a PPO plan. Under Medicare one annual eye exam is covered. A routine eye exam typically covers providing a prescription for eyeglasses/contacts and checking for cataracts and glaucoma. I checked with my insurance company and this is correct. I should have no co-pay. Sieht already had my insurance information prior to my visit and nothing was said to me to indicate they did not accept my insurance. I filled out the paper work indicating NO medical issues just routine eye exam. I was told I had a $40.00 co pay. I disagreed. They seemed to want me to say I had a "medical" issue. They charge more for a medical exam and they charge more for your exam to include checking for cataracts and glaucoma. I do not recommend this practice. Also the front desk is very poorly organized. Check in takes a very long, long time. As I said I waited for over an hour. read more

This is not the place to go if you have a medical eye issue! These "doctors" apparently have no interest in helping people with them; they seem only interested in selling laser surgery. I've advised my optometrist not to refer them ever again for medical issues. read more

I had a bad initial experience with Sieht. I had an appointment with the eye center for 2:30pm. They asked me to arrive 15 minutes early to take care of any paperwork. So I arrived at 2:15pm and gave the receptionist the requested paperwork. I then waited until 3:55pm before being called for my appointment. It turned me off to this practice. I didn't want to establish a relationship with a medical group that has the patient wait an hour for an appointment. read more

Dr. Hayes is great at explaining eye conditions and treatment. It's also easy to make an appointment and be seen fairly quickly. You can also count on getting in if you are having an emergency and need to be seen same day or next. She has a great personality and caring attitude. I would recommend everyone I know to see her. The doctors are phenomenal and very easy to talk to! I also got my eyebrows microbladed by Dr. Hayes- OMG I will recommend all of my friends to her to get them done!! I always get compliments are them, and the best part is that I don't have to draw them in anymore! read more

My daughter and I had routine eye exams done by Dr. Hayes for the first time a few days ago and we were both extreemly pleased with most aspects of our appointment. The lady at the check in window was friendly and professional and even thanked me for completing our paperwork online through their website. The website was user friendly and easy to navigate and I appreciated the ability to complete the forms ahead of time instead of feeling rushed while sitting in the waiting room. There were numerous people waiting for their appointments when we arrived and the only negative comment I have to say is that we were kept waiting for about 20 to 25 minutes past our appointment time even though we arrived 15 minutes early as suggested. We were called back for our appointment by another very friendly yet professional woman (can't remember her name) who set about taking preliminary measurements, data, etc before we saw Dr. Hayes. When Dr. Hayes saw us she was also friendly and very approachable with questions. She explained everything she was doing as she did it and encouraged us to take our best guess when reading lines on the chart that were out of our range. My daughter was being fit for contacts and the same assistant was very encouraging and patient as my daughter got comfortable with trying contact lenses for the first time. Unfortunately, we have tried far too many eye doctors in the Stafford & Fredericksburg area who did not provide what the Sieht Fredericksburg office did. Charged 200.00 for contact fitting exam, tried three different brands, when none of them worked Dr. Hayes wanted to charge another 200.00 for another exam!! In my opinion, you would be better of throwing money down your toilet!! read more

We made an appointment for a general eye exam. We picked Dr. Hayes because she participated with Davis Vision Care. General eye exams are covered in full with the exception of the co-pay. Sieht billed our medical insurance rather than Davis Vision Care because they said they found a medical condition that was not covered by the routine exam. They discovered this "medical condition" based on Dr. Hayes asking if we had any concerns. My wife said she sometimes gets tears in her eyes. So based on this they billed our health insurance company rather than Davis Vision Care. The Dr. told my wife this was normal. If it was normal then why did they switch the visit from routine to medical necessary? If what they discovered was deemed medically necessary then we should have the option of making a follow up visit. To just change the original intent of the visit without telling us is just wrong!! read more
