Although I still think Dr. Hudson is fantastic and my cataract surgery was successful, here is some…read moregenuine advice, based on my experience: 1) Arrive on time for your appt but be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes, up to 45-60 minutes. My experience: 30-60 minute wait times for all 8 of my appts. 2) Read your portal appt notes to make sure you and the doctor have the same understanding of what transpired at your appt. My experience: A staff member put care instructions in my chart notes that she never discussed with me and I only found out by looking at the notes in the portal. After calling the office repeatedly, requesting a phone call from her to explain, she finally did. 3) Read and understand the schedule and dosage of your eyedrops for pre and post surgery right when they are handed to you. My experience: The instructions, schedule, and dosage went seamlessly with my 1st eye surgery. However, for my 2nd, I was handed instructions with different schedules and dosages. I didn't realize this for a few days and by then I was out of the country. I made a command decision to follow the same schedule and dosage as I had done with my first eye. I reported this to a technician at a follow-up appt and was told the office manager would call me about this and some of my questions/frustrations...I never got a call. Additionally, the surgeon later told me the surgical center also hands out eyedrops instructions but patients should follow the ones they receive from SEIHT. I only got one set AND it was from SEIHT AND I was never told I might receive a separate set of instructions from the surgery center. 4) Don't buy lots of reading glasses until your eyes are completely healed after cataract surgery and a doctor tells you what reading glass strength you need. My experience: One tech told me I would need the +2.50 diopters; at a later appt another one told me I needed +2.75 (after I'd already purchased multiple pairs of the +2.50). 5) Make sure you know how many appts you will need through the whole process and what is supposed to be accomplished at each one. My experience: I went to what I thought was my last appt where we discussed the surgery, my unhappiness about near-vision loss, and my need for near-vision correction options. However, I was told I needed another appt so I believed that was going to be my "final post op" appt where I would be presented with near-vision correction options. Not so. I was set up with the surgeon who performed my surgery only to rehash everything from the last appt. This could have been handled in a phone call. 6) The most important thing: BEFORE you select a specific type of cataract surgery, make sure ALL of the options, whether they are performed by these surgeons at this practice or not, whether they are covered by insurance or not, are explained to you in a clear, concise manner AND MAKE SURE you hear and understand the PROBABLE outcomes of each. My experience: I met with a tech for the eye exam and cataract surgery discussion. She immediately marked me as a standard IOL patient when I stated I only wanted what was covered by insurance BUT I did want to know the cost, etc. of the other options (thinking I might reconsider if it was affordable). By the time we finished the exam and consult, we never did discuss the other options and I was being ushered out to schedule an appt with the surgeon. I was later told by another tech ALL techs are supposed to fully explain ALL cataract services offered (whether or not you only want insurance-covered surgery) so you understand exactly what your options are. Anyway, when I met with the surgeon, I didn't know any better and didn't feel I had the luxury of time to further explore other options so I was on the standard IOL train. Reading back in my portal appt notes I see there were brief mentions of other surgeries in the Instructions Section (I was told at my last appt that section is basically standard verbiage that is inserted and the part to pay attention to (i.e., make sure you read and understand) is the section titled Assessment. So...my unhappiness with the outcome was not the cataract fix or Dr. Hudson, and I take some responsibility for things (which is why I am taking the time to write this review so you will have the benefit of my experience) but I feel I received conflicting projected outcomes regarding my sight and I guess I didn't hear I would totally lose my near vision capabilities, I just read it in the appt notes after the fact. Instructions Excerpts: "hope that the patient would have better distance and near vision after cataract surgery; still might need glasses for some activities; improved vision at distance and near (although this may still require glasses); may still need glasses for their best vision after surgery." Assessment Excerpts: "will required full time glasses for all distances after cataract surgery with the standard IOL...will lose near vision capabilities without readers after cataract surgery."

On May 21, I received a phone message that I needed to reschedule my June 5 appointment because the doctor was not going to be in that day. This is the most unprofessional place I have ever done business with. I had other appointments I scheduled for the same day in association with the Sieht appointment, which all relied on the eye examination to happen first. Now because of a doctor's ineptitude and incompetence, I have to reschedule the entire day. Great job Sieht, with this kind of professional (haha...I cannot even write that seriously) medical service, you may be the winner of the worst eye examination place ever! I will never step foot in this place and will do my best to tell everyone I know just how unprofessional this place is and guide them towards another place. Be aware of this place! If I could give them no stars I would...

Before he put the lens in he put some liquid in my eye and had me rest my chin on the chin holder and look into this area where he had a light and I think A bluish color light too and he saw where I had the injury. He wrote a prescription to get some antibiotic drops to help my eye. He gave us an RX card to help with the price when picking up the prescription. He had trouble putting the contact bandage in my eye due to me and my reflexes where going all crazy, I guess I don't like people messing with my eyes. Haha. I told the doc he has a lot of patience for me haha. I said if I was in his shoes I would have knocked me out so I could put it in with out trouble. Haha. But anyways he got the job done and my eye feels a lot better. I had to go back the next day so he could take out the bandage contact lens he put in and it was a $30 outta pocket price. He took it out and put some solution in my eye and asked me to move my eye around and tell him how I felt. Felt all better. And I was good to go. He was a very kind dr. And we had great conversation. Oh and I gotta tell y'all how I injured my eye! I was weed whacking and something flew up and hit me right in the dang eye ball! No I didn't have eye protection on. Stupid on my part. I didn't have anything, so lesson learned after the injury I said I'm going over to Home Depot to purchase some eye glasses for protection. And that's what I did. Now every time I'm working on something in the back yard I have those suckers on protecting my eyes. Had to learn the hard way, but hey lesson learned. Thank u for ur help Doc. :

Two patients in my family had eye exams here, and neither was automatically given their eyeglass…read moreprescription after the appointment. They both left with no prescriptions in hand! We only received the prescriptions after my daughter had to call and request them. When the prescriptions were finally emailed, the PD/pupillary distance was missing from both prescriptions. When I called after my daughter had called to request the PD, I was told the patient had to come back in person and sign something before the PD could be released. This is extremely inconvenient and unnecessary, especially when the patient needs glasses and cannot see clearly. Their glasses were also very expensive, the frame selection for my husband was very limited, and our insurance did not cover the glasses there, so we had to purchase glasses elsewhere. The missing prescription information and PD runaround made that process so much harder than it needed to be. Patients should leave an eye exam with their prescription without having to ask or sign anything, and they should not have to jump through extra hoops just to buy glasses somewhere else. The process felt like a lack of transparency and a barrier to shopping for glasses outside of their office. I would not recommend this office to anyone wo wants a simple, clear, and patient-friendly experience. By the way, I still do not have the PD to any of my husband's or daughter's prescription and probably won't get it. FYI - The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) says patients must receive their eyeglass prescription immediately after the exam, at no extra charge, without having to ask, so they can shop around. The FTC says suspected Eyeglass Rule violations should be reported at ReportFraud.ftc.gov

They gave her a top-of-the-line injection that cost over $15,000 -- and never disclosed the price beforehand. No estimate. No financial discussion. No explanation of what her insurance would cover. Just a surprise bill and a "hardship form" handed to me after the fact. When I confronted the office, they claimed she signed a disclosure form. Let's be clear: she was at a retina clinic being treated for an eye disease. Expecting an elderly, visually impaired patient to fully understand a dense billing release without someone walking her through the costs is disgraceful. This is not informed consent -- it's financial ambush. It is absolutely unethical to take advantage of vulnerable seniors this way. Shame on Prism Vision Group and any physician who allows this to happen in their office. If you have elderly parents, demand full cost transparency up front -- or go somewhere else. Seniors deserve better than being treated like billing targets.
