We got to the office a little early and we're given medical forms to complete. As soon as we completed the forms we were called back for our eye exam and eye dilation. I drive over an hour to Culpeper - and sometimes farther to Fredericksburg - but feel it is worth it. I am always welcomed by personable, organized front desk staff. My wait is minimal. The assistants/technicians who do the bulk of the testing are always friendly and efficient. I have been seeing Dr. Lauren Richards fairly often for conditions relating to aging eyes. She is thorough with tests and exams and takes time to explain eye problems and to discuss concerns. She is very professional, yet warm and caring. The before and after results are truly amazing. I can only describe my sight currently as viewing a television in 4k HD. The clarity is amazing. I Just had my first cataract surgery with Dr. Jani yesterday. I am SO pleased and happy with Dr. Jani and the staff at Vista Eye Specialists. I get my second surgery next Thursday and I'm looking forward to it! Dr. Jani is pretty good. He is pretty straightforward and to the point so if you are looking for warm and fuzzy bedside manner, this will not be the place for you. I feel his staff needs training on dealing with geriatric patients. Most have his staff is quite young and have little patience. The bark a string of orders to patients and the just can't follow that quickly. When you have patients who are 80+ yo, that is something you should take into consideration. Being a former practice administrator, I may be more sensitive to this and would not tolerate this behavior my staff. Quality of care: I think Jani is good at diagnosing and treatment of eye conditions/disease. I trust his judgment and his older staff is great with patients, especially Lisa. She is quite kind a patient. Patients are able to easily follow her instructions. 3 stars for staff. 5 stars for Lisa though! read more

Dr. Jani did a fantastic job on my cataract. I had a bad cataract as well an astigmatism or eyeball out of round. He recommended that the cataract be removed with a lazar/ computer technique. My vision is the best it has ever been, 20/20 without glasses. His office has been great. They kept me up to date with what was happening and put me in touch with a pharmacy that saved me hundreds of dollars on my drops. I had a great experience. Dr Jani did cataract surgery on both eyes a week apart. Work up was great - no issues. He does surgery down at Fredericksburg Surgery Center, both procedures went down without a hitch. Went from severely degraded eyesight in both eyes to 20/20 within 8 days. No doubt the office is busy but in my experience it is a well run machine. Staff is professional and efficient. Everything is well explained and after every stage of treatment there was a Q and A pause. I had Jackie as my optical technician she was awesome. I left a local eye dr, for Dr. Jani. I wanted someone that cares, and the other Dr. office and staff, only wanted me to buy expensive glasses and not help in any other way.
