In Moriarity NM for 2-day K-9 nosework event and this super convenient place to stay a couple nights Of course everybody has heard of Sierra Blanca Brewing. Probably the class of New Mexico craft beer. Brands like their Alien IPA are well known throughout the SW. I'm a big fan of their peanut butter porter. Of course the beer here is delish and fresh. Located just off I-40 in Moriarity about 45 minutes east of Albuquerque. Easy on off ... worth the stop. Big property that encompasses the brewery proper + a tasting room, merch sales and an amazing 1 acre'ish beer garden that has coverage from sun if it's too hot. I sat with pup back in beer garden and the outside bartenders was nice enough to deliver my drinks to the table. As far as a Harvest Host site is concerned, pretty big, level dirt parking area that as they admit gets a bit muddy after rain, but if you keep to edges, you'll be fine. Only thing not leading me to 5-star rating is absence of kitchen and any food other than bagged pretzels and nuts. Country music playing outside, just a really nice place read more

We are driving across country and my husband looks for Harvest Host destinations. He found Sierra Blanca Brewing Company in Moriarty NM to rest for the night. We, along with about a dozen other campers parked on the empty lot next door. They have an open air bar in the back of the brewery with a nice courtyard. We both tried their green chili cervesa and I also tried their Pilsner and my husband the alien IPA. All very good. It was all very enjoyable; Christa was a friendly and enjoyable bartender. Very easy going. We also met some enjoyable travelers from all around the country. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this brewery! Their selection is one of the best! I know this one is a bit out of the city, but it's so worth the trek! The inside is quite small, as most of the activity is outside in their expansive garden. There is a place for kids to run and play, a small water feature, and my favorite place, the swings in the gazebo. They make my all-time favorite Pecan beer - so much flavor and just AHHHHH! They had their cherry wheat and their Oktoberfest (you must get this as soon as they brew it, sells out so fast) which were both so great! read more

Outside venue is . Lots of space for groups and sectioned in different areas to have your own distance from other areas. I really enjoyed watching the kids playing the cornhole boards. Talk about 'off the beaten path', Sierra Blanca is certainly a destination brewery. I had been wanting to visit this place and so 3 gal pals and I met up there. The server was very sweet and managed both the inside tasting room and the beer garden with grace. The offerings are plenty, and so having a flight of 4 beers for $4 is a good deal. The beer prices on the menus also include ABV and IBU ratings which is so helpful. My favorites were the pecan beer and the green chili. Pints were priced between $4 and $5. We opted to stay inside, but we also walked outside to the beer garden and it was lovely. The only bit of disappointment is that they advertise a food truck is on property on weekends but Friday is when they have music and a food truck. Be sure to message them on Facebook if this is something you are looking to experience. All in all, I would go back in a heartbeat. read more

There selection of beers leave room for choices and preferences of the peoples choice of beer. Friendly service. Despite the food trucks only being there on Fridays, this place is lovely! On other days you can bring a picnic or order food in. The garden is full of outdoor games and 1000% dog friendly. The staff is extremely nice, and so are other customers. They have a large selection of excellent beers, lagers and hard teas including sugar cane sodas. Unfortunately no ciders. You can taste before you order - nice bonus and you also can buy some to go - which we did. Ample parking for RV! We will return, maybe try a Friday :) read more

We just bought a new RV and was going to boondock. Weather did not permit us to do so because of rain. We stopped by the next day on the way out of town. The service was great and the beers just as good. We highly recommend even if you do not get to boondock. Great atmosphere. read more

Main room is small and quaint but when you go out back (you can't see it from the road) it's a little slice of "way super cool". Sierra Blanca has several beers we love with rich unique flavors and when we can find them on tap in Abq restaurants that's what we go with. But today we made the trip out to the brewery and it was great! Super friendly service, including pulling a pecan brew that was being bottled right then so we could try it; doesn't get any fresher than that! And with very reasonable prices, the visit is well worth it. My favorite is Pancho Verde. it's the best green chile beer I've ever had (although when it was under Rio Grande Brewing Co it was spicier and I did like that!). Because the brewery also has the Alien Stout on draft, I had a black and tan (or green I guess you could say :) and the mix was perfect. Initial flavor of chile and then the follow up smoothness of stout made for one tasty combo. The pecan beer was strong but not too sweet, and we'll definitely have it stocked as a holiday beer. read more

Beautiful place to stop on a drive in the country. Great beers (I didn't realize they brewed some of my favorite beers) and nice atmosphere. The service was really good. The recognized me and wife right away. Be warned that their hours aren't great. They close around 6 on Saturday and aren't open Sunday (though I am told that is out of their control). It is a bit farther away than some of our other favorite breweries but worth the trip! read more

I drove out of my way to go here because I love the green chili beer. It's kinda in the middle of nowhere, but it was packed with people and had a killer taco truck out front. Sierra Blanca has some of the most consistent beer and I liked every one I sampled. Best part is that the place is populated by workers and their families. While they are locals, they take great pride in the beer and want you to enjoy it. Several of the patrons went out of their way to make me feel welcome. It was a very disappointing experience for my husband and I. We drove from Tijeras out to Moriarty because we wanted to see one of our favorite bands Rudy Boy Experiment. We had to pay a five dollar per person cover charge. The beer selection is great. The one little girl that waited on us with the long red hair was very sweet. However her coworker with dark hair and dark glass was quite the turd. Heaven knows, that Moriarty needs more places for us to go to. But if you just drink beer this is not the place for you. I would encourage the brewery to offer a better wine selection, with more high-quality to medium quality red wines. Maybe some ciders. Or even cider margaritas. It was 45° outside so inside the porch area was maybe 55°. A little too cold. We didn't know to wear winter coats. There are some heaters in there however all the seats right underneath the heaters were taken. Gravel floor with cold air coming in, my feet where freezing. To summarize the music was outstanding. However the rest was not a good experience. read more

By an off chance, my husband and I saw a sign for a brewery as we were driving down 40. We stopped since we had some spare time. Best decision ever! The staff was super friendly and helped us out. We tried two different flights but our favorites were the cherry wheat, pecan stout, the brown, and the green chile beer. Holy cow!!! The pecan stout was unlike any stout I've ever tasted and had such a great nutty flavor but not over powering. The smell alone is enough to intoxicate you. We are in love with it. Also, you have to try the green chile beer. It tastes like a light beer but then you get that chile flavor without the heat. Excellent and unique! Thank you so much sierra Blanca! I grew up, in a manner of speaking, with Sierra Blanca Brewing Company. Originally from Lincoln County, I remember when it first came out, and when it was located in Carrizozo. They've since relocated to Moriarty in order to facilitate shipping, but their products are still outstanding. I'd love to give this place 5 stars, because I love their beers, I love their attitudes, and I love their approach to beer, but I can't in good conscience give them five since they don't have any food on site. I know that's more of a brew-pub deal, but having something to nosh while you sip is what it's all about. That being said, the beers are delicious, and should you find yourself in Moriarty, make a point of going out here and trying a few. You won't be disappointed. Just make sure to have eaten beforehand, or to bring your own. read more

Great staff, very knowledgeable and friendly. Order the "flight" - You'll get a sample of each beer and an explanation of the them all. It is a great way to sample the entire stock of flavors. You can purchase six packs or 40 oz bottles of most of the beers. All are good prices for craft beers. Didn't get to tour the brewery, but everything is brewed in house. Try the Green Chili beer. On my road trip from California to Philadelphia my boyfriend and I decided to stop at this brewery after seeing the banner off the highway. I am so glad we did! We were greeted by a very friendly woman (don't remember her name) and gave us the low down on the beer. They do tastings at no cost, just donations. Soooo we tried ALL the beer they had on tap =) Everything was good, even the porter which i never like b/c it's too malty for me but this one was great. We ended up buying the porter =) We even got a tour of the brewery and we were so impressed with their locally grown products and small family/friends owned business. Good time here! Went with my usual ipa, was fine, but then got taken offroad by the affable server who suggested a sampler of four beers for five bucks. They do some lovely Belgian styles! A must visit on the New Mexico Beer Map. My friend and I visited on a late December afternoon. The staff was friendly and helpful. Both the food and beer menus are extensive so it takes sometime to make decisions. I ended up ordering a guacamole tostada and a rolled chicken enchilada. It was plenty of food at a bargain price. My friend and I shared the 12 count taster tray, selecting all but the IPA's on the menu. Unfortunately, I don't remember my favorites, but the pumpkin and Chile beers were both surprising and very good.
