Smoked bratwurst sandwich with green Chile.

Wonderful beer, service and food! Thank you for having me. Inside is nice and cozy on a cold winter night.

the entrance to the restaurant

I came across the brewery when I decided to take a leisure train ride to Belen on the Rail Runner commuter train. As I had about a half hour-hour to spend until the train ride back to Albuquerque, I walked to the brewery from the station platform and had a delicious Blonde Ale. The owners Tom and Cindy served me and were very nice to talk with. I plan to visit the Hub City Brewing again the next time I'm in New Mexico.

Yuck! Just frozen food tossed in a fryer, too expensive for what they offer, the wine I ordered was served in a little plastic cup.

Eclectic and friendly. Good food and craft beer choices. Little hole in the wall place that you can really enjoy, indoor or outdoor seating.

Go on a Tuesday, they have taco Tuesday! Cute, friendly place. Great beer selection and a good chile beer that they brew! I'll be back!

After wandering around the enchanting plaza from the Spanish colonial period, with its very informative displays of local political history (on the north side) and local military history and tributes to fallen heroes (on the south side) we popped our heads into Baca House Brewery but were told they weren't serving alcohol that day, so we went to Box Canyon Brewing and asked if they were dog friendly. Their answer was "if your dog is friendly, we are dog friendly." So we say down and ordered a pint, and several customers came over to pet our then-6 month old husky mix pup. We each ordered a sandwich (I don't remember the specifics) and got a plain unseasoned hot dog without a roll for the doggo. The staff was very pleasant, and the customers were friendly and chatty. They had some very funny signs on the walls that made my wife and me laugh. We will happily return when staying overnight or passing through Socorro again.

We passed through Socorro during a long day on the road after visiting my father south of Tucson…read more We stopped in to Capitol rather than one of the other two breweries on the plaza to get a stamp in our Hop Passport. A very pleasant bartender seated my wife, our young puppy, and me on their very nice patio, and brought the pup a bowl of water without being asked, which we always appreciate. I ordered an IPA and my wife got a stout, as February is stout month at craft breweries all around the country. Both of us thought our beers were delicious and well balanced. To our surprise, there were ashtrays on several of the tables on the patio, and a man was smoking a cigar a few tables from us (smoking is banned inside and out at all business establishments in Colorado). The piped-in music was rather eclectic - everything from 70s classic rock to Shakira to modern auto-tuned pop. We had just had lunch in Hatch, so did not try the food. We have decided that we will spend the night in Socorro on an upcoming trip to see my dad, as the town looks like a lot of fun and we really want to try the other local brewpubs.

I got a flight of beers: the Green Chile Lager actually had quite a spicy kick (definitely an acquired taste). My favorite was the 49er's Oktoberfest Lager. The Hoppenheimer was a strong IPA with a 9.3% ABV, and the Ladrones Mexican Lager was crisp and refreshing. For food, I tried the Socorro Dog ($11). It's supposed to have bacon, but I couldn't really see or taste any. I liked the combo of shredded Gouda, green chile, tomato relish, and beer mustard. The poppy seed bun was also a nice touch. We also shared a 12 inch Supreme Pizza ($14.50) with olives, sausage, green chile, mushrooms, and pepperoni. I liked the thin crust. I also ordered the Birds of a Feather cocktail ($13) which had dark aged rum, Aperol, pineapple juice, lime, and simple syrup. I asked for a splash of Prosecco to make it sparkling, and it was indeed refreshing. They also have a pool table ($1 per rack) and a dog-friendly outdoor patio, which I always like to see. There's also plenty of board games to borrow. The only downside was that the bathrooms could use a little cleaning and updating. Overall though, this was a solid spot with good drinks and a chill vibe.

I haven't tried much of the actual BREWING but on my last visit the server let me try a sample of the caramel apple cider to decide if I wanted a glass of it (I decided on the Cucumber Garden cocktail instead). Bosque in the Limelight…read more Local brewery that saw its humble beginnings in 2010 by making just a meager 350 barrels in their first year of operation to now producing over 10,000 barrels, as well as sporting six locations throughout the Land of Enchantment™. We arrived just looking to try some local craft brews, a few small bites, and--more importantly--a few minutes away from my sulky, preteen boy. The Good: *This space is really nicely decorated and a chill place to hang. *Service was friendly and fast. *All the beers we sampled were friggin fantastic. Not a dud amongst them, but special big ups to the Super Blueberry Wheat, which was crisp, fruity and refreshing, and my personal favorite the Scotia which packed a nice punch at 8.4%ABV and had a terrific malty sweetness. *Green Chile Falafel Bites were surprisingly good. I'm pretty picky about my Falafel, and these were really great, but I'm not sure where the green chiles came into the equation, as we couldn't taste them. *Carissa had been dying for a salad, and their Santa Fe Chicken hit the spot. Fresh, light, and full of crisp veggies and grilled chicken. The Meh: *Overall the Green Chile Pork Stew was delicious and had good green chile flavor, but it was a bit of a salt lick. I'm not sure if it's one of those purposeful things to get me to drink more beer, but it worked. :0] *Three drink limit? I'm not sure if they're talking about mixed drinks (i.e., cocktails), beers, or both? Regardless, after my third delicious brew, I was pretty much tapped out anyway. The Ugly: *I'm not 100% on this, but I think this neighborhood is a little suspect, especially at night. Rule of thumb: Anything close to a Walgreens is almost guaranteed to be a little hoody. #ProveMeWrong TLDR: Fantastic beer, great food, and amazing service and atmosphere. What more could you possibly need? I'm very jealous of not living nearby. Until next time!
