    a bar with bar stools
    Jim F.

On a recent day trip to Santa Fe we were looking (like we always do) for a local brewery. It's kinda my thing. The wife found Chili Line and *whoosh* off we went. Chili Line is a small place, but very cozy. It occupies an unassuming spot along the road right next door to Lino's Trattoria & Pizzeria. We were just there for the beer so we sat in the bar. It's tiny, with only two tables, and a few stools at the bar. Jessica was our server so she directed us to the online beer menu. I ordered a flight of 4 beer (with the help of Congo), and they were all REALLY good. One of the things I absolutely LOVED about Chili Line was that smoked beers. I love a good smoked beer, be it an ale, stout, or lager. There's something about a smoke brew that is unique and makes it stand out from other beer. Chili Line is a CLEAR standout when it comes to smoked brews, and definitely The Best I've had. Jessica was awesome. She didn't mind engaging in conversation and helping us make beer choices. We also swapped a few tattoo stories (which is awesome) and helped me decide which merchandise to purchase. It was a short visit (maybe an hour), but it was great. Chili Line is a very cozy, relaxed place. Some breweries go for the hype, but not here. Just a quiet place to hang out and drink some excellent smoked brews. I'll be back. You've been warned.

4 stars strictly for the service; 3 stars for the beer. The staff was extremely friendly, and the servers knowledgeable. I didn't try the food, but we tried a flight of all their beers and I only liked a couple. They are a micro brewery so they aren't pumping out large amounts. Their pale was okay, and they had one similar to a Heff. Everything else was just not to my personal liking. A cool spot to check out wish I would have tried the food.

Everything was great-bartender Chris (he was also the waiter and bus boy), food, ambiance, beer and music. We were able to get food from the place next door-not often you get gourmet Italian food at a brewery with great beers. We had the spaghetti and meatballs (had spinach a little spice-yum), Sinatra-light cream sauce with asparagus and mushrooms, yummy pizza. Great sour/natural ferment brown, bourbon barrel aged beer (had a nice sweet note) and a stout which was a little Smokey. Highly recommend-check it out.

We decided to go here based on he yelp reviews and the Brewee app reviews. I would suggest that you put this place on your list of must go places even if you are not a beer drinker. The atmosphere is quintessential Santa Fe. Chris was our expert at the bar. I had a flight of their beers that were overall the best group of beers I have had in 7 weeks out west. Their west coast IPA was excellent and do your self a favor and try both the red and green chili ales! The red definitely gets my vote. My wife had the stout and it was superb! The biggest bonus was the food. We started with the calamari appetizer and it was so tender and lightly breaded in a sauce that just enhanced the flavor. Definitely recommended. Then we each had a pasta dish, I had the Frank Sinatra and my wife had the Sophia Loren. And the topping was the jazz trio to finish the night. Oh so good. Rich and creamy both!! The food and the beer will not disappoint and if you are lucky enough to have Chris serve you tell him Brad and Ronna sent you.

A flight of beers! Each is about 2.50-3.00$ Our favorite out of these was honey!

Sarah was absolutely awesome! We're from out of town and she was extremely knowledgeable and kind. We did the flight of beers; the paddle comes with (4) but you can get as much as you'd like. They were 2.50 or 3.00 each depending on which you got. Our favorite out of these was the honey! It was so good I thought it was JUICE. After trying the beers we decided to go ahead and get the wings. They're bone in mango habanero and we're the absolute best mango habaneros I have ever had. A perfect blend of sweet and spicy. If you're visiting Santa he, TRY A FLIGHT OF BEERS HERE!

Great service and attention by Jessica and JD! My mom and I were only in town a handful of days, but we kept coming back to Chili Line because it felt like 'home.'

Took my dog-o here. They have an outdoor patio which is nice. I ordered the pizza with pepperoni and green xhili. It was delicious. They also had a June cider which was hibiscus. Wow. Absolutely delicious. Check it out.

I'm not a beer person so I got their signature cocktail - el Diablo. It has chocolate liquor in it that's all I can remember but my dog's nickname is Diablo that's why I ordered it. Very very good. Bartender was so friendly and helpful. Live music was 5 star as well!

    Burrata Pizza with prosciutto

Chili Line Brewing is a chill spot, great atmosphere, friendly staff and good pizza. We had the Burrata Pizza. San Marzano tomato sauce, organic mozzarella, Burrata Cheese, diced tomato, porcini mushrooms, and basil, we did add prosciutto. I had the Mentriosa, lager dry hopped with pecan smoked hops...fantastic! My husband had an IPA and enjoyed it.

Flight (guava sour, raspberry sour, green chili beer, red chili beer) and a bowl of fried shishito peppers.

The chili beers would have been much better if they weren't flat. The server/host was either new or very inexperienced with the bar, because the pours for the other party there at the same time as us were also looking a bit rough and it took him about 40 minutes to switch out the keg. The fried shishito peppers were great and a huge portion (as expected for $12 for fried peppers). We're a fan of sour beers, and their raspberry and guava sours were very interesting. They had an almost fermented taste to them? The patio out front is dog-friendly. Inside is a bit small but they had live music setting up in there while we were leaving. It looked like they had a really pretty back patio, but it isn't dog friendly. Overall, beer and service were just okay.

Once again Yelp reviewers have given us a great meal experience. I am usually not a beer drinker, so I let the server chose. It was delicious!! We split the Caprese Salad, the Insalda Mista and the Chili Line Pizza. The salads were plentiful and very fresh. The Pizza (green chillies, pepperoni and smoked mozzarella) was awesome.

Not because of the atmosphere. Not because of the location. Because of Katya. Katya is not my favorite bartender. She is my favorite human being. I've spent enough time in bars to know when someone is good at their job. Katya operates on an entirely different level. She can take what feels like sixteen orders at once, remember every single one, deliver them with absolute precision, keep the entire room moving, somehow do the math in her head, and still make every customer feel like they're the only person sitting at the bar. The basement bar itself is exactly what a great dive should be; a shithole. Heavy hobo stab vibes upon entry, including Katya. Smell: multiple buttholes farting at once. Climate control: sweaty patron dependent. Lighting: liability. TV: playing a rotation of trash 80s DVDs . If business schools were smart, they'd study her. If hospitality groups were smart, they'd clone her. If Santa Fe has any sense at all, they'll do whatever it takes to keep her exactly where she is. Cash only, so come prepared. And bring plenty of it, because she deserves every penny. Katya must be protected at all costs.

We…read morewent for Taco Tuesday; you can get $2 beef tacos, which many members did and said were very good. However, I decided to go with an appetizer I've never tried, the Bang Bang Shrimp, which was dynamite! You get four very large, crispy shrimp in a sweet-and-spicy sauce, though I didn't find it spicy, if that's a concern for some. The sauce was very tasty; the shrimp had great flavor, were plump and tender, and they were indeed crispy. This went very well with the arugula under the shrimp. I'd order this again in a second. I then had two tacos à la carte: Baja Fish beer-battered cod and Carnitas. Both were very large and excellent. The pork on the Carnitas was indeed crispy as it should be, and the cod was perfectly fried and delicious. My wife had the Asian Tuna Noodle Crunch Bowl: seared tuna, lo mein noodles. The dressing was superb; the Tuna was perfectly seared raw, and all the items that came with the salad (mango, red cabbage, daikon radish sprouts, kale crunch, edamame, cilantro, peanuts, toasted sesame) made for a lovely and delicious meal. Our server, Tony, did a fantastic job of keeping us all happy. My only 'complaint' was that Boxcar doesn't serve their amazing Brussels sprouts, or at least not all the time. Not on the menu. I told Tony and the manager how much I love them and was told it may come back as a special from time to time. Man, the Boxcar Brussels sprouts are amazing! Boxcar has very, very good food, and I would usually avoid what appears to be a 'sports bar,' but James Beard Foundation-recognized Chef Eric Stumpf will please the foodies every time. What is nice is that Boxcar has several seating areas, so if you're into food and not the 'bar scene,' they can seat you in an area that is quiet.

Our first visit was on a Monday night, and our server was fantastic. Forgive me for not remembering her name. I should have saved the receipt. As starters we ordered the bacon wrapped dates and the bruschetta. They allow you to choose four different toppings for each piece of bruschetta which is really nice because all the toppings sound so good. To drink, I had the minimal intervention wine flight, and my husband had the hatch green chili margarita. I enjoyed my flight, especially the Chenin Blanc, but can't lie, I was a little envious when my husband's margarita arrived! The bacon wrapped dates were tasty per usual, but the bruschetta was outstanding! We did not finish the bruschetta because we also had an entree coming, the Pasta New Mexico. It was everything you want pasta to be with a good kick from the hatch chili and red pepper flakes. We left fat and happy! Later that same week we came back on a Friday night, and it was hopping. It looked like there were two major big parties happening which initially concerned us that we might not make it out on time for our event that evening. However, we believe our server got our order to the kitchen before putting in the big one! Yay! And our order was the same as Monday night because we enjoyed it so much. The only thing different was my drink. I got that hatch green chili margarita, and it was super refreshing! Our food came out of the kitchen at a decent time, but we did notice that the bread on the bruschetta lacked the toasted/grilled texture that it had on our first visit. Maybe the kitchen pushed it out too fast or there was a different chef that night. It was still edible but not outstanding like it was the first time. Like most places, it is slower at the beginning of the week and very busy come the weekend which likely affects the quality of what you get. But overall, I think it's a solid place to drink/dine. If I get the chance to visit this city again, I will definitely come back.
