MeWhat a great wonderful new find just east of Albuquerque on Route 66. Located in carnuel New Mexico. This place used to be an old speakeasy! It is now a great tap room with lots of beers to choose from soft drinks & green chile chicken stew! They will have music on Friday nights. Watch for this place to grow!

The best Frito pie I've ever seen you'll have to wait and see how it tastes

After tasting the Frito pie it is delicious one of the best i've had. So today I had to stop and get a Reuben on my way home from Albuquerque on route 66 and much to my delight the Reuben is delicious very delicious and the way 2 cool root beer is the bomb very happy with this place good food good beer and good company. PEACE

Reuben...really very good! No grease! The bread stayed crispy the whole time...a must for a nice messy Reuben!

Super disappointed and very bummed. I went once a couple months ago. Loved the Reuben, beer and cool atmosphere. I even became a member. BUT, since then, I have made several attempts to go again. Every time I do, they are closed. EVEN when I double check the hours and Yelp says they're open. I think I will ask for my membership $ back. that is IF they are ever open.

    Do they serve food?

Rock Canyon started serving food this week. Come in and check out the fresh made sandwiches! There is also frito pie with red chile, green chile stew, vegetarian wraps, and of course salsa, chips, pico de gallo and guacamole!

Well, what to my surprise exists in the rather desolate canyon pass area between Tijeras and Albuquerque...

There was a bit of live music on the patio after some rain. Both outside and inside spaces were plenty. The young server was very attentive and was on top of things. We went with friends so we sampled a few things. Our friends ordered the chicken bbq pizza and dry rub wings, while we ordered the chicken pesto and the New Mexican pizza. The thin crust on all pizzas was perfect, with a good balance between crunchy and soft. The green chile from the New Mexican pizza had a kick, the bbq chicken was tasty, and the pesto was smooth and mild. We all agreed that the pizzas needed more cheese. The wings were crispy but the rub didn't have flavor and the chicken was a bit dry. For our drinks, I got the Golden Ale while everyone else got La Madera. The Golden was smooth, lagers, with a bit of hoppiness. La Madera was a mild, dark, sweet ale that was quite good. Overall, this was a very nice experience on a rainy evening, with good brick oven pizzas and a nice dark beer. The wings, though could have been better. However, we are planning a second visit to try other items.

In Moriarity NM for 2-day K-9 nosework event and this super convenient place to stay a couple nights Of course everybody has heard of Sierra Blanca Brewing. Probably the class of New Mexico craft beer. Brands like their Alien IPA are well known throughout the SW. I'm a big fan of their peanut butter porter. Of course the beer here is delish and fresh. Located just off I-40 in Moriarity about 45 minutes east of Albuquerque. Easy on off ... worth the stop. Big property that encompasses the brewery proper + a tasting room, merch sales and an amazing 1 acre'ish beer garden that has coverage from sun if it's too hot. I sat with pup back in beer garden and the outside bartenders was nice enough to deliver my drinks to the table. As far as a Harvest Host site is concerned, pretty big, level dirt parking area that as they admit gets a bit muddy after rain, but if you keep to edges, you'll be fine. Only thing not leading me to 5-star rating is absence of kitchen and any food other than bagged pretzels and nuts. Country music playing outside, just a really nice place

We, along with about a dozen other campers parked on the empty lot next door. They have an open air bar in the back of the brewery with a nice courtyard. We both tried their green chili cervesa and I also tried their Pilsner and my husband the alien IPA. All very good. It was all very enjoyable; Christa was a friendly and enjoyable bartender. Very easy going. We also met some enjoyable travelers from all around the country.

My motorcycle buddy took me here for an afternoon beer. We pulled up to the wooden, deserted-looking bar and I was like, uh, really?? But the sign said "ABIERTO", so my friend smiled, pushed the door open for me, and thus the adventure began. The bar is basically a large room full of stuff. Crap. Boxes. A covered pool table. Covered with cats. The actual bar was a small thing on the right side of the room. Also covered with cats. I love cats, so I was okay with this. :) A woman ambled out from the back, eyeing us warily (we were the only ones there), then got us our beer and water and sat behind the tiny bar to keep tabs on us. Once she started talking, man, we got some local stories that were pretty amazing. She turned out to be Mary's granddaughter; Mary (who just turned 95!!!) was in back taking a nap. My friend was disappointed Mary was not around, as apparently she is a real firecracker. It was Mary's parents who started the bar in the late 1800's (although I read it started as a general store) and it's still going... not strong, as the town of Cerrillos is pretty much a ghost town, but it's going. A must see if in the area. You won't be disappointed!
