Happy Hour is so good here. The staff is polished and professional and the food is divine. I have never seen such a calm and cool group of bartenders in my life. They create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for customers, even when busy. The Happy Hour shrimp was delish but I wish there were more shrimp than just two. Hadn't been here in a while (as of 5/6/25 and "had" to try the sammy of the day - Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. Bun is soft and yummy, chicken is fried with a light batter, nice thin pickle slices, a hot but not insane seasoning, and great slaw. The star of the show, is the garlic parmesan fries, that are fried in beef tallow. Add these suckers to either a dip of mustard, ketchup or the Aioli that comes with the sandwich - excellent either way. Also, if you are NA (during the day) they make a really good Arnold Palmer. (I combine mine with some bitters for a better flavor.) All in all NOT a cheap lunch nor dinner, BUT like a good pair of shoes, you get what you pay for in quality/savory/salt/acid and taste bud happiness. read more

Definite jam for an afternoon happy hour or an evening meal anytime. Western Lenexa is popping with choices but if you want a great vibe and great food, then check out Sierra Grill. Reservations are recommended but you don't *have* to have them, but hey, you can always see if a table is available when you're out and about. High ceilings and an open-style kitchen makes for a chic atmosphere, with a nice long bar that had open seating. The happy hour menu has some fab choices, such as the pork belly tacos, garlic fries with Parmesan, & a phenomenal roasted tomato & goat cheese dip. You can even skip the main menu and just blend a few apps at happy hour for a dinner! But if you want a touch more, then Sierra Grill has some great specialty dishes. The grill is always working and turns out a solid steak, whether ribeye or other, and the braised beef short rib is absolutely worth a try. I'm a sucker for the steak & frites, mostly because I'm a juvenile, but it's fabulous cuts of beef splayed over a crispy bed of fries. I've also sampled their grilled salmon, served up on mashies, and it's spectacular! Pricing is a touch steep, because hey, specialty dishes, and the service is good but not great. Nice place. Was greeted and sat rather quickly. I was in the mood for a salad so had the beet salad with some bread. Just ok. Got the bill and found it more than I expected. We tried Sierra Grill at the recommendation of a friend. It was okay. The food quality definitely outshined the atmosphere and the service. When we walked in, I said to my wife, "what's with the shower curtain dividers?" The curtain type dividers seem really odd. The acoustics are difficult. We couldn't hear for a few minutes. It was so challenging to hear in there until the crowd thinned out. The waiter and the water filler guy really need some training. Their timing and odd questions kind of threw off the date night we had in mind. As we waited for our meal following our appetizer that had been cleared, the Water Filler guy asked "Are you waiting on something?" That was odd. (We were waiting on our dinner.) Our meals arrived from some random who auctioned off our food by asking who had what. Then a few minutes later, both my wife and I had 70% of our meal remaining on our plates and the waiter rolls up and asks "So what's next?" Again....not sure how to answer at this point in the meal. We still had a lot of dinner to enjoy. Also, I ordered a Modelo. Usually they come with a lime wedge....not here. I asked for a lime wedge and Miguel brought out 2 medium sized wedges that were dry and brown spots on them and had very little lime juice in them. The food was delicious. I couldn't wait to go back to this establishment after an elite event a while ago. I took a friend and my 3 y/o daughter there for lunch. They do in fact have a kids menu, which had me surprised since this is a higher end business. I ordered my daughter the fancy kids Mac n cheese, she is a fry nut so she thoroughly enjoyed her fries that accompanied the Mac. My friend ordered the steak sandwich. She absolutely loved the garlic fries. She kept raving about them so I had to try them. They were outstanding! I ordered the special which was a prime rib sandwich with bbq sauce and onion rings on it. It was delicious but messy! The onion rings were thin like onion straws. As a side I went with something that I knew this place could make amazing but other places can't- Brussels sprouts! They did not disappoint. This is a nice quiet restaurant. Our server was absolutely amazing. In fact he was so amazing my 3 year old asked if he could babysit her sometime. Such a cute memory. I wish they had one of these in the northland as it's off the beaten path for me but I will venture back as much as I can. It's my new favorite place! read more

I must say, Sierra Grill blew me away with their food! We came here for a dinner with my in-laws, and I really had no expectations as I hadn't heard of the restaurant. The service and food was absolutely phenomenal. A great selection of wine and cocktails was an added bonus. This was the first time I've been back to Sierra Grill since the moved from an old Quiznos off College Blvd. Ambiance is still great and can offer some privacy with their set up! Our New Year's Eve dinner at Sierra Grill was, unfortunately, the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Six couples in our group have a tradition of dining out every New Year's Eve to celebrate the holiday, and it also happens to be my birthday. We expected a busy night and understood the prix fixe menu, though the prices were extremely high--$65 for salmon and $90+ for steak entrées. By the time we were seated at 7:30 p.m., many menu items were already unavailable, which we accepted given the evening. However, four members of our party ordered the $90 steak, and all four arrived cold--not lukewarm, but genuinely cold. The sides on every plate (potatoes, Brussels sprouts, etc.) were also cold, as if they had been plated well in advance. We sent the steaks back, and they returned more than 15 minutes later only slightly warmer, with the same cold sides still on the plates. Dessert service was equally disappointing. The key lime pie was a very small sliver, and the carrot cake was overcooked and tasted burnt. Even more concerning, at least five people in our party never received dessert at all. The server then offered us "free desserts," which made no sense since dessert was already included in the prix fixe price. We asked to speak with a manager, but no one came to the table. I eventually had to approach the service station myself before the manager--who identified himself as the owner--finally spoke with me. During that conversation, I explained the issues calmly. Instead of addressing the problems, the manager argued with me. When I mentioned the burnt carrot cake, the server had earlier said it was "Kirkland brand," which was surprising on its own. The manager then dismissed the concern entirely, stating he made the cake himself and that it was "fine." He also defended reheating the cold meals as appropriate handling. The most astonishing comment came when I explained we were simply hoping for a nice New Year's Eve and birthday dinner. His response: "Well, it's New Year's Eve and I have to work." No apology, no accountability, and no attempt to make things right. Gratuity had already been added to the bill, so we paid and left. Between the food quality, service issues, and dismissive management, this was a deeply disappointing experience. I would not recommend Sierra Grill, and I would be shocked if this level of service is sustainable long-term. read more

It truly pains me to update my review because this was a place that we have loved for many years. After two recent negative experiences, I just think the quality is not as consistent as it once was. As much as I don't like to say negative things, I felt compelled to update my earlier glowing recommendation. My hubby and I most recently went for dinner on a Friday evening. From the moment we walked in the door and weren't really greeted by the two hosts who spent an inordinate amount of time talking to one another and debating where to seat us, things were off to a slow start. We had reservations for two weeks and things were not hectic, so I just didn't get the chilly greeting. Things went downhill when the food arrived. The tomatoes on the Caprese Salad, which was a featured special, were very under ripened and tasteless. Our second starter, the Lobster mac & cheese, was an even bigger disappointment and was also on the featured special menu. The pasta was seriously overcooked, the sauce was unappetizing and pooled on the bottom of the dish like it had perhaps been sitting for awhile. I wasn't expecting a lot of lobster, but I also wasn't expecting a glob of cold lobster flakes sitting on top either. We didn't eat most of either of the two dishes, but the waiter didn't even notice. For our entrees, we both had the filet, which is usually our go-to favorite at this restaurant. The steaks were unfortunately overcooked (we ordered Medium). The asparagus served with the meal was stringy, very pale green and sadly also cooked too long. I decided to forego the photos, because it didn't look good. With cocktails (which were thankfully very good) our meal with tax and a good gratuity was $235. After only an hour, we felt rushed out the door by staff. I don't mind paying for a good meal, but this was a true disappointment. I am not sure what has happened the last few months, but I am really hoping things turn around, because Sierra Grill was always a fave. read more

I had never heard of Sierra Grill before, so I'm glad I got to check it out! The restaurant isn't huge but they do have a patio and the staff were very nice! We got to taste a bunch of food and I'm glad they gave several options so I'll know what to get next time! Started with the chicken spinach artichoke dip. It was delicious! I definitely went back for 2nds (and 3rds lol). It's only offered in happy hour and I definitely will be getting that next time! The Kali Rib was also really good! It was juicy and the marinade definitely helped! We also tried the salmon crostini and meatball. Those were just okay in my opinion. I like the salmon but just not paired with the crostini and I didn't care for the mozzarella on the meatball. The last thing we tried was the wood fire grilled ribeye. This came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I loved the mashed potatoes and the meat was tender. The house sangria tasted like it had fresh fruit in it. I gotta say, I was pretty blown away by the delicious lunch I got at Sierra Grill. As you can see in my amazingly executed photos (hehehe) they made one heck of a plate of steak frites. Like, I mean, I almost wept at the beauty of it. I was at lunch with my coworkers so I didn't ask to take pictures of their food but everyone seemed very pleased and as we were celebrating my birthday, they let me choose a dessert. We chose the chocolate torte and it isn't picture only because i couldn't stop my spoon from delving into its rich chocolatey depths! It was so rich and delicious! The service was great, attentive but not hovering, which I appreciate. The art was also amazing! You can scan the QR code and get a description (and purchase) a lot of the pieces up in the walls. Met friends for dinner the other night. Smoked and braised beef crostini appetizer was outstanding. Goat cheese poutine was good but did not resemble the photo in the menu. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Pesto Pasta. It was swimming in salty pesto sauce. Again did not look anything like the photo online. Very disappointing. Hubby had the brisket burger which he said was okay. Ordered coffee, was told they don't have decaf. Decided on a cappuccino. Waiter came back and said he couldn't make one as they were out of milk. 'You know, it's close to the end of the night', yes but it was Friday and the restaurant is open on Saturday. Decided to have regular coffee. It arrived lukewarm. Asked waiter if I could please have hot coffee, he said yes but it will take 16 minutes. This is over an hour before closing time. Sorry but that's not what I expected from this caliber of a restaurant. Waiter was very nice, not his fault but kitchen manager should know better. Not sure we'll be back. read more

Stopped in here after too long of a wait at Silo Modern Farmhouse down the road. It was good food, but quite expensive! The goat cheese poutine was delicious, the steak was cooked as ordered, and the apple dessert dish was intriguing. The halibut was quite salty, but still good. Sierra Grill is a nice, moderately upscale restaurant. Sat at the bar where I noticed that they cook some meats over a wood fire which is pretty cool. Alex, the bartender/server, was friendly and personable. I had the old fashioned which was a sizeable pour and had a really nice balance of flavor, strength and sweetness. The scallops and risotto were great, but slightly salty. The creme brulee was very good and not too sweet. It does get pretty loud, so you might have to talk a bit louder than usual to have a conversation. read more

First time here, and a really good experience. Wife had scallops and risotto...very good. My filet was perfectly medium rare and delicious, and we split a creme brulee for dessert. Service is very good, if a bit casual. By that I mean it is unhurried. Come with the idea you are here for a relaxing meal and drinks and not concerned about rushing through and out.
