This review is for brunch. My wife and I had dined here before, so when I was searching for a short-notice Saturday brunch reservation I liked the prospect when I saw availability here. It seemed like my family enjoyed what they ordered, and I'll say the cinnamon roll looked really good. My wife and I weren't super hungry, so we each ordered a biscuit and gravy. I loved the biscuit. It had a unique texture with a crispy outside while internally soft and moist. The biscuit and gravy is a real bang for buck option. The side of fruit was really good. It wasn't one of those sad bowls of mostly honeydew melon and cantaloupe. It had grapes, blueberries and strawberries. There was a mixup with one of the entrees my group ordered but the issue was quickly resolved by the server. read more

We had our rehearsal dinner here and I cannot speak highly enough about our experience l. Derich went above and beyond to make our experience seamless. He let us tailor the experience to our guest's needs and was extremely responsive with planning. On the day of our event we had a private room with a buffet. It was set up perfectly and the food was fresh! We were nervous about a buffet getting cold or not feeling freshly made, but it was perfect. Our guests took leftovers and complimented how good the food was. The service was also incredible. I was regularly asked to refresh my drink or if we needed anything. The food is amazing. I had a strawberry,goat cheese spring salad and a homemade roll to start my meal off. Very fresh tasting with just the right amount of dressing. Fried chicken with poblano Mac n cheese. Chicken was cooked just right. Mac n Cheese was moist and flavorful. I tried desserts choc cake, blondie with ice cream and a cinnamon bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. Went here on mother's day. I understand that this is a really busy time, but it's also important to prepare. My mom ordered the Bloody Mary, it was really watery and looked very clear compared to others we saw on other people's tables. This was part of the yelp elite event and if you haven't been to one you DEFINITELY need to go, so get to taking pics and writing reviews! The first course was a spring/summerish salad with blueberry, strawberry, candied pecans and goat cheese and WOW! I am not a fan of goat cheese whatsoever, but this was very mild and the flavors paired very well together. Second course was a kind of a chicken katsu fried chicken with mac and cheese drizzled with a tangy bbq sauce. Again, flavors paired well with the savoriness of the Mac and cheese and fried chicken and the tangy/sweetish bbq sauce. Chicken was fried to absolute perfection and was as juicy as it could be. We finished off the evening with bread pudding and vanilla ice cream and a butterscotch blondie with vanilla ice cream as well. While these dishes were absolute fire the best part was they were locally made! The server was really nice and never left our drinks empty. The menu was small but amazing. I saw shrimp and grits and couldn't resist- and I made the right choice!! It was rich, creamy, and filling. I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience overall. The service was just okay--nothing terrible, but nothing that stood out either. The biggest letdown was the food and drinks. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it had way too much cinnamon, completely overpowering the flavor. Someone else in our group got a Paloma, and all you could taste was grapefruit--no balance at all. For the appetizer, we ordered a pretzel, which was hard and, in several spots, hollow inside. Not fresh or enjoyable. I ordered the French toast for my meal, and the bread was dry and tough, making it hard to even finish. Overall, it was very disappointing, especially considering I spent around $45 plus tip. Definitely not worth the price, and I wouldn't return. read more

First time. Staff friendly. Atmosphere is simple, it's in an old brick building on SW Blvd, hip artist area with a plethora of independently owned restaurant, coffee shops, cool shops. Owner/ chef was formally with Red Door and as all chefs dreamed of their owned place. Blvd Tavern has been here 2 years and is a made by scratch kitchen. My bad. I left a review of the quiche that said I couldn't find any asparagus or sun-dried tomatoes. Actually, they were there. Cool bar with a casual vibe. The food is good but not great. I had the tavern burger and fries. The burger was cooked really well and tasted good. My friends got the cajun pasta, the andouille sausage tasted good but the sauce and pasta were pretty lackluster. Still tasted good just not a lot going in terms of flavor and quality ingredients. Our server was really good, and very attentive to our large group and had good timing with check ins for drinks. BLVD Tavern is a solid spot for a beer and burger. read more

We recently ate here and had a mixed experience. The food was decent, and our server was excellent--attentive, kind, and professional. However, I do want to note (especially for others who travel with service animals) that we were not permitted to dine indoors with our ADA-compliant service dog. We were told we could only be seated on the patio. While we were happy to enjoy the outdoor seating that day, it's important to mention that this is not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act or Kansas state law, which both require that service animals be allowed anywhere customers are allowed to go--including indoor dining areas. I don't believe the management was being intentionally discriminatory; more likely, they were unaware of what the law requires. But for those of us who rely on service dogs to navigate daily life, access matters. I hope the owners will take this as an opportunity to become better informed, because this could be a truly welcoming place for everyone. read more

I was surprised why it took us this long to visit this place. It's definitely in the neighborhood where you have plenty of options. But, this place is simply amazing, it has really cool interiors, combined with modern and rustic look. We sat on a bar seats and had a very pleasant talk with the bartender (Lekin) she made us amazing drinks some of them were out of the menu. We ordered truffle Parmesan fries (It was 4/5), and cheese curds (5/5). Make sure you visit this place, it definitely need more set of eyes. read more

Not from the area but came to visit my cousin and I enjoyed the food and employees were super friendly and welcoming.

Staff were amazing, especially when dealing with unruly and quite smelly patrons who were politely asked to leave.

If we do a limited menu, everything's gotta slap- everything. Taste, portion, price point... If ya get cheese curds, gotta be lots of cheese curds, no? If ya get a $20 southwest grilled chicken salad, gotta be worth the $20 no? Burger (although incredibly TALL) tasted great! $20 great? Hmm. I see Brunch is more where it's at :) read more

We stopped by this spot for a post-wedding brunch and our whole group was seated in the back party room. It's not the biggest space, so we did have to share the party room with two other groups which gets really loud. Our server was really nice, but seemed to get pretty distracted - he'd take a few orders and then leave and then come back to take a few more, etc. Food was fine. I got the salmon eggs Benedict, but had almost no noticeable hollandaise sauce on it - flavor was pretty good though. My husband got the BG&E (biscuits, gravy, and eggs) and it was so salty. I'm not sure if they're all made that way, but my mouth kept watering (not in the good way) while I was eating it so I could only handle a few bites. read more

This had been a favorite brunch spot of mine & I was eager to share it with my sisters. Unfortunately it was disappointing. The chicken & biscuit was way overcooked, don't know if the fry oil was too hot, new cook, or not enough help. The quiche was also overcooked, same with biscuits. Oven also too hot? The English muffins in the salmon Benedict weren't toasted, so essentially a cold base to that dish. The waitress Jess was not attentive. She was quick to drop plates and quickly walk away before I could express som concerns to her. I had to go return a plate with hair in it to the person on the pass because I couldn't get the attention of the server. They quickly got a replacement dish out to us which was great. But The food was flavorless and over priced. I appreciate them for accommodating our large party. But overall it was just a bad experience for our group. I truly hope they do better in the future.
