On the flats and descents I used zero assist and got a great workout. Then I throttled up to a 3 and flew right up the steepest hills. I can only imagine how fast you'd move at the max assist of 5. My buddy used assist almost the entire time and had no problem. They have front shocks, so we did some off Roading, and even a technical stretch of trail - no problem. If you're riding on pavement, you can lock the shocks with a flip of the dial and it's just like riding a normal bike - with a boost. Ryan brought the bikes right to our resort, made sure he got everything adjusted for us, provided a quick tutorial on how things work (very simple), and returned the same time next day to pick them up. Ryan, we'll definitely be calling you next time we visit Reno or Tahoe!

The views are EXCEPTIONAL and out of this world. Trail: The path itself takes 1.5 hrs to the end and back, and there are out of the world spots along the trail to snap photos or take breaks at. The first 1/3 or so of the trail is actually on the streets/highway leading to the lake itself. It's pretty safe even with cars--just be mindful of traffic. Also be mindful of foot traffic on the trail, with kids, dogs, other bikes, etc. Bikes: Highly recommend the e-bikes. They're top notch, give a good workout, but also help immensely with the uphill climbs, which there are many of. Only drawback is that there aren't any bikes for shorter girlies like myself, or at least there weren't when we dropped by. Price: Great value for all bikes. There's also a group discount of like 10% if your group has 5 or more which was a nice touch. Overall very friendly for non-frequent bikers like myself and athletic folks alike! Recommend at least a three hour excursion if you want a leisurely ride to take in the views of the lake, billionaires row waterfront homes, and a refreshment at Sand Harbor. Note it costs $ to enter the SH state beach park Pro Tip: before your rent, best to know if your dog will like the Burley Pet wagon. Ours was miserable, screeching like a banshee, breaking out of the wagon enclosure in the first two minutes. Lesson learned our little guy would rather ride in our owned side-saddle pouch than the wagon. Once sorted, we both had a blast on this incredible ride.

The staff followed up on a minor price adjustment even after we were long gone (we ended up switching to a lower priced bike due to compatibility with the tag-along). First, what I love is that no matter the experience level, Ken sources top-of-the-line bikes. We all rode Rocky Mountain bikes that were incredible!! Second, we took 6 adults ranging from 27 to 56 and all very different skills sets. We had complete newbies to pretty skilled riders. Ken did a tremendous job teaching skills clinics interspersed with riding and keeping it interesting for everyone. We then split the group to accommodate different levels, which was perfect. We had an excellent ride with Tahoe Mountain Guides and strongly recommend this company. Our ride was mid-October and despite the fact that the high season was over, it had snowed in the AM that day up high, and was raining around noon when we were scheduled to head out, Ken and Bobbi and Alex were fired up to ride with us and have fun on the trail. It could have been a "well, it's cold and rainy and my guides flaked out on me" kind of day, but that's not how Ken seems to roll. They were all smiles and laughs and met our group with a contagious enthusiasm to get out there and play. The bikes are excellent and well-fitted and after a half mile of intro pedaling, we steered off onto the single track. Tahoe Mtn Guides picked a route perfect for our relatively inexperienced but adventuresome group, and led us through it at an ideal pace. Alex, Bobbi and Ken had really helpful tips and pointers for each rider, and they passed along their advice in such an encouraging and fun manner. Stops for water, which the guides carried, came at just the right times. A frosty beer at the end of the ride was tasty too.
