The man that runs this company definitely will want to put you on the bike that is right for your skill level so you have an enjoyable time. He also provides all the safety gear and double checks that it fits you. If I ever want to rent again, or have friends/family in the area looking to ride, this will certainly be the place I recommend. Bachelor party for me and 4 friends. I booked pretty last minute - just several days before, sending a request via their website. Daron emailed and called the next morning explaining how everything worked with great clarity so I booked the rentals and a guide for the day. On the day of the booking, we met our guide, John, at the designated meeting spot. We got kitted up and John gave us a brief overview of the bikes. We'd all ridden street bikes a fair bit but not much dirt bike experience. John was fantastic at gradually ramping up the difficulty, giving us feedback, and tips and was just generally chill and knowledgeable. We did a bunch of quad trails, a bit of single track, the motocross park, and some other bits and pieces. Can't wait to go back and rent some bikes again! read more

A really solid experience overall for group of four; I'd recommend this outfit and would rent from them again. Logistics and organization were super responsive and smooth. The protective gear is rough but functional. One bike had an oil leak that could have cut the day short, but we were tired and ready to finish before it got that bad. All of us were beginners and our guide John - great attitude, helpful and chill - gave us enough basic instruction to get us started and on the trail quickly but not quite enough for us all to ride safely. Maybe obvious but this is a 'let's get out on the trail' event not a motorcycle riding class. The Prosser Dam area is a beautiful place to spend a day. read more

I travelled 12,500 miles from Woy Woy Australia to ride these trails, and the fun was 11/10. I wanted a decent bike and a guide to ride with... wasn't I in for a treat. Daron organised a great bike for me, we'd discussed what I ride at home and what I was considering getting into.. so a KTM 350 with all the trick running gear was set up, and ran like a dream.. though the big, BIG fun was my guide - Rachel. Gun rider, fun person, brilliant guide. If you are lucky enough to get to ride with Rachel she will test your limits, keep your attention with a good mix of main trail, singles, challenging hill climbs and stop at some magnificent scenery along the way. That was the best five hours of my YEAR! I am afraid to Yelp about this because he'll be booked solid next time I'm in town, but I suppose I should share... this guy really knows his stuff. This is the stuff you dream of for months after a vacation. I spent hours reading reviews of rental places around Tahoe. I called quite a few places to find one with enough patience to answer my questions and the flexibility to fit my needs. He's a small company with off-road race experience and equipment for riders of ANY skill level to rent. Daron sent a PayPal invoice, I paid it, and it was that easy to book. He has very straightforward paperwork and great bikes for rent, covering a range of experience from first day on a bike "teach me to ride" all the way to "I race off-road and need help on loose terrain up steep slopes". My friend and I, yes he took out a group of only 2, both have dirt bikes back in Texas, so we rented a Yamaha YZ450F and another fast 450cc and had a blast. Daron met us at the rental house he's partnered with and got us fixed up for the day. We drove out to the middle of nowhere and parked, then hopped on the bikes. He led us through his favorite parts of the mountainous desert and lowlands on a variety of excursions. I let him know when we needed a rest or when I had a question. He's a fantastic and patient motorcycle instructor. I will definitely do this again, he made it all easy. I've rarely been so happy and exhausted at the same time, what a great day. read more

Didn't know what to expect when we rented a bike for my son for his first ever ride. Daron got us set up with a 50 and all the protective gear. They got us out to a nice dirt track for a beginner to learn on and my son had a blast. I couldn't believe how much fun I had just watching and cheering him on. Purchased a dirt bike tour for my girlfriend and I in mid November. I'd say the entire experience was awesome! Planned the tour about a month in advance with pretty much no dirt biking experience. I was texting back and fourth with the owner until the day before regarding whether it would be too snowy or cold to dirt bike. Daron was responsive and easy to communicate with. During the tour, he taught my girlfriend and I everything we needed to know to go up few hills and dirt mounds. We rode along a few paths near Reno. We've been Atving in Pismo tons of time, but learning how to switch gears on a dirt bike is quite different. My girlfriend was terrified at first, and was slightly mad at me for booking such a "dangerous activity", but she had a blast and wants to go dirt biking again. She even talks about getting a street bike now. Dirt biking has been on my bucket list for awhile, but it was somewhat difficult for me to find places that would let us rent them with no experience. That's also close to places where we can ride around. If you want to learn how to ride dirt bikes, this is a great place to go! Daron was a great instructor and will be patient with you while you learn the basics. We loved how these are custom tours, so it was just Daron, my girlfriend and I. Drove from Oregon w/ my 15 yr old son to celebrate his birthday. He has experience riding flats on a CRF230, but never trails. I have a little more experience, but not much. My son was outfitted with a yz250f (by my request), and I got the fc250. Both bikes ran great, and Doug (our guide for the day) was patient as we got used to the bikes and the trails. We mostly stayed on the smaller service roads (which are dirt), a couple of times tried single track, and even a moto x track near the dam. Plenty of options! Five years ago I booked an outing with Tahoe Dirt Bikes for my best friend's bachelor party. It was one of my best days of the 2010s, thanks to the excellent guidance, location, and weather. We split into two groups due to the disparity in our riding skills. Both group leaders assessed our skills and adjusted accordingly. We self-described our two groups as "beginner" and "intermediate", but the intermediate group ended up on what the group leader described as some of their most advanced (and exciting) trails. I was in the beginner group and loved the improvement in my skills over a few hours. I remember going up one steep incline and being delighted that I was totally confident about making it up safely. My only previous experience with dirt bikes was being taught the basics by friends. I had no practice, although I did drive a scooter a lot as a kid. The location is beautiful, and you get lots of awesome views from the dirt bikes. The weather at the beginning of April was perfect. Sunny, highs in the 50s, cool air but warm sun. The ground was generally dry. We damaged one piece of equipment (someone joined the intermediate group with no previous experience), and the replacement fee was fair. Communication was prompt and professional. They unboxed a brand new helmet so that everyone in our ~15 person group would have proper size equipment. First time riding dirt bikes with my brother-in-law this week during a visit into town while visiting family. Working with Darin beforehand to get the bikes reserved was a joy. Well, my son went solo with Chaz and rated his experience a 9/10. 10 if he had been on a more powerful dirt bike. BUT....he is not at that level yet. I was beyond impress with everyone at Tahoe Dirt Bikes. My 16 yr. old son was to go with his dad. Last minute shoulder injury prevented him from going. Our son went solo with Chaz. I posted a review in August of the bad experience we had and it was removed. Not sure how or why. I also see another review similar to mine was also removed. I would rent from another individual or be sure ALL bikes work properly before leaving his residence. I rented 4 bikes for a day and it was a first time for my kids. I was NOT told my 450 had a bad starter on it and that I would have to pull start or kick start the bike. Darron was well aware my day was going to be getting on and off it to help my kids. Well, that didn't work. I rented a bike with electric start and it did NOT work. So after getting off trailer I was aware now it did not work. Of course he was not available to resolve the problem, Meaning bringing another bike. He was out mountain biking, keep in mind this was a work day. So we loaded up and returned his stuff, not more than a 1.5hrs including the tow to and back from the spot. A waste of money, equipment I doubt is never cleaned. Keep in mind I have left out more complaints associated to this situation because every time I think about this day, I get pissed. Thank you for a terrible day, and your comment about exaggerating my ability, any day you want to wear off the untouched rubber on your R6 I will be glad to do it for you, hopefully that bike runs without having to push start something that is paid to rent. read more

I had a great time today with Mick as my guide. My YZ 450 was awesome. Great power and an easy bike to ride. We covered about 50 miles in 3 1/2 hours. We went through a lot of terrain types. Mick knows where to take you based on your ability. The last time I rode a dirt bike was 20 years but it came back to me quickly and it was a great experience. I used to ride two strokes growing up and the new four strokes are a lot more fun and forgiving in my opinion. I'm going to come back and take some friends in the spring. If you're looking to make memories in Lake Tahoe then this is a small price to pay for an entire day of riding dirt bikes in Lake Tahoe National Forest. There is beautiful track all around the forest and you are provided with very adequate gear to take on all kinds of challenges. Daren is a great representative for the company as well. He assisted us from reserving the bikes only a few days ahead of time and then pointed us in the right direction upon arriving. The review would be 5-stars but consumers should ask it be confirmed that the bikes run without issue before leaving. One of our three had a minor issue that made the engine stall occasionally when we were stopped. In the end I'm very satisfied with my experience and especially with Daren. read more

Daron rented a friend and myself 2 timbersleds for one day. The whole thing went perfect and I have absolutely zero complaints or issues. We will be back again next year to do the same thing. Daron rides all the toys he rents so he knows what needs to be done to keep them in top shape. My friend and I each got yz450 dirt bikes with the timbersled conversion kit. The bikes had zero issues and worked fantastic all day. Daron gave us directions where to go and about 20 minutes of tips before we took off.
