We were excited to have dinner at Sierra Pines resort. However, we were disappointed, somewhat partially due to our server, not checking in with us until we were almost finished with our meal and she acknowledged that my salad was totally overdressed. I was in the process of taking lettuce pieces out of the dish and onto a plate, hoping to drain off some of the dressing, she said she was sorry and that was it. Oh, and then she did bring me a bigger plate than my bread plate to put more lettuce leaves on. Such a disappointing experience. She was very nice however when she acknowledge twice that the salad was way overdressed there was no correction on her end. My husband's pork chop was good and cooked perfectly. Not sure we will be returning in the future. read more

Went here for dinner for a couple of days after a motorcycle ride and a day hike. I have to say that it's an adorable little spot definitely worth checking out. There's a cute little fishing pond outside where you can catch your own dinner, along with outdoor seating. The inside of the restaurant feels like a little log cabin with a bar and a game room downstairs. The dishes were absolutely delicious and they were HUGE servings! As in three of us could've shared my Osso Buco. The beet salad was amazing and the salmon plate was also very good. They serve fresh baked bread along with every meal, and their attention to detail was outstanding. Everyone on staff is friendly, hospitable and they go out of their way to make sure your dining experience is top notch! We didn't stay overnight, so I can't say anything about the accommodations, but from what I did see it was quaint, relaxing and inviting. A lazy little spot to rest and relax. read more

A most enjoyable time was had during my stay. It had been about 30 years since my last visit and it was as wonderful as I remembered. The newest owners have maintained the natural beauty of the resort and I was thankful. The onsite restaurant was equally enjoyable. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. The room was cozy and comfortable. There is no cell service in or near the room (which they make clear when booking) but this turned out to be a blessing. Detaching from the webs and simply enjoying the scenery and time spent with loved ones was much needed. read more

I can't say enough good things about this resort! We had such a lovely time staying here during our first visit to the Sierra Buttes region. We were surprised to find an opening at the resort pretty last minute leading up to Labor Day Weekend. My husband did the Downieville Downhill bike ride then I came here to check in with my dog. I love that their cabin rooms are pet-friendly! This was my dog's first "hotel" and he loved it. The cabins each have a little back deck which was so nice for our dog. Most of the cabins do not have wifi but ours did since we were in Cabin 4 near the main building. They have a place to fill up your water, a beautiful pond with "trout fishing" for the kids, and a big grassy area across the street that is fenced in for dogs to run around. They were even having a live music event in the lawn while we were there which was so fun! There are some trails around the property including some that take you down to the Yuba River (be cautious of snakes, we saw one by the river). I would highly recommend walking down some of these trails at nighttime to get away from the cabin lights and do some stargazing; they were some of the best stars we've seen in a long time! The restaurant on the property is open daily for breakfast and dinner. You can just show up for breakfast but they recommend you make a reservation for dinner. Service was pretty slow for dinner (almost an hour) but we didn't mind since we were enjoying each other's company and the views. We also loved that we got to sit outside on the patio with our dog. The wait for our food at breakfast was only about 20 mins which was much better! All the food we had was absolutely delicious and very much worth the wait. For dinner, I got their fried catfish with a baked potato and my husband got the venison osso buco served over polenta--he couldn't stop talking about how good it was! He got the last serving for the night, it's so good that they sell out. We split a berry cobbler with ice cream for dessert, the perfect finish. For breakfast, I got the ham steak and eggs while my husband got the chicken fried steak with country gravy and eggs. We also split an order of biscuits and gravy. We absolutely loved this restaurant and I said afterwards that I could probably eat every meal here and be totally happy! We had such a great time at this resort and will absolutely be coming back. All the staff are so kind and welcoming. They gave us some great recommendations on things to do in the area and which trails are worth hiking. Prices were very affordable and we loved that our dog could join us for everything here. The rooms have no AC but it cools down at night, so you can keep some windows open. With that plus a fan in the room, we were fine here on Labor Day Weekend. The rooms also have a fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. Please keep in mind this review is about the restaurant, not the resort and motel. Nestled at the foot of the towering Sierra Buttes, Sierra City Restaurant and Bar offers world-class dining, in a comfortable, rustic dining room, or patio dining, with a view of the buttes, beautiful mountain scenery, and the famous trout pond, stocked with thousands of Rainbow Trout. As you enter the restaurant, the first thing you'll notice is the century old tree growing through the lobby, which is built around the tree. Climb the stairs, and you'll see the small, but richly appointed bar, which offers full service on anything you want to drink. Turn to your left, and you'll see the comfortable, rustic dining room. The dining room is divided into two sections, and is comfortable furnished with tables and chairs. From the dining room, you enjoy a great view of the beautiful mountain scenery. The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner daily May through October, with reduced hours during the winter. You can enjoy your breakfast or dinner inside the dining room, or outside on the patio, with a view of the mountains and the trout pond. I elected to dine outside, since the weather was beautiful. From the "House Specialties" section of the breakfast menu, I went with "Fresh Rainbow Trout," with my choice of side as "O'Brien Potatoes" and sourdough as my choice of toast. I ordered an optional side of two eggs, fried sunnyside up, as how can you enjoy a breakfast of fried trout without eggs? My breakfast included two slices of lemon, which added to the zesty seasoning of my trout. I knew the trout was fresh, as I'd observed his or her many relatives - a couple thousand of them - swimming in the pond, and I'd watched staff member Larry netting fish from the pond, fresh for the restaurant. My whole Rainbow Trout was large - about 14 inches or so - and took up all of the main plate. The fresh fish was battered and deep fried to a perfect, golden brown, with juicy pink meat on the inside, and perfectly fried and battered skin on the outside. Yes, I even ate the fried and battered skin as it was so amazingly crispy and delicious, and I'm glad I wasn't dining with my doctor, as I'm certain he would have scolded me. Like most fish, trout has a lot of small bones, but after your get the technique of sliding the meat off the bones, there are minimal bones to pick out of your mouth, as you're enjoying a delicious bite of this fine freshwater fish, freshly netted from the restaurant's pond. The potatoes were diced Russet potatoes, complete with skins, seasoned, par boiled with diced pepper and onion and deep fried to a golden brown. Such a delicious side! The sourdough toast was, well... toasted and buttered perfectly, delicious, but somehow escaped the photo. My side of two eggs fried sunnyside up completed the breakfast, as how can you enjoy fried trout without eggs? On my request, my friendly server brought a cup of tartar sauce, which complimented the juicy taste of the fish in every way. I'm experienced at the art of eating fresh fish for breakfast, so I carefully slid the meat, skin and batter off the bones and simply ENJOYED! I dipped bites of fish into the tartar sauce, and enjoyed it all complete with the potatoes, eggs along with a bite or two of toast. I simply forgot about salt, pepper or condiments... as this breakfast was simply standalone delicious! This breakfast was simply DELICIOUS in every way! Not only was it delicious, but it was both fresh and very unique. This is a breakfast you simply don't want to miss any time you're near Sierra City. My breakfast was simply amazing, and the staff, along with my friendly server Catalina treated my like a rock star. I was in Sierra City for 4 days, a little getaway. I ate at the restaurant twice, dinner on Saturday night and breakfast Monday morning. Saturday night is their Prime Rib dinner; prime rib is one of my favorite indulgences, and Sierra Pines did not disappoint. I ordered it medium and it was perfect - pink inside but not so much that it mooed when I put my fork in it! It came with au jus and creamy horseradish, I chose the baked potato, and the best crispy Brussels sprouts I've had in a while. They were "cooked right" crispy, not "burnt" crispy. I had "Cindy's Cosmo" before dinner (one of the owner's special recipe) and it was yummy and refreshing. A delightful dinner experience! On our way out of town we stopped for breakfast and I'm so happy that we did. I had the best traditional Eggs Benedict that I've had in a very, very long time, made by Chef Summer! The Canadian bacon was actually real Canadian bacon and very flavorful. The eggs were poached perfectly. And the best part was the hollandaise sauce! It is in fact the best I've ever tasted!!! It was fresh, light and creamy, tangy, and bursting with flavor! 1,000 times better than the thick goopy stuff you get in "mainstream" restaurants in densely populated cities. Never have I ever tasted a hollandaise sauce as divine as Summer's. I would move to Sierra City in a heartbeat just for this Eggs Benedict. If you haven't figured it out yet, I highly recommend dining at Sierra Pines Resort's restaurant! Breakfast and dinner were delicious, so the lunches must be just as good. First time we have eaten there since the new ownership. It is still good but service can be sketchy. The folks next to us were there before us and they got their food about 20 minutes after. During this time the wait staff only came over a few times. Everybody is really nice but there was a wait of about 10 minutes before they asked for our drink order. My fried chicken was good but the fries were not. They should put steak fries on the plate instead of the small fries they do. My wife really enjoyed the spaghetti. I tasted the sauce and it was on point. Dinner salad was okay. Blue cheese dressing was too thick. Had the cobbler and the top was mushy instead of crispy. They have done a great job of putting tables outside to eat. We prefer the indoor seating but the folks outside looked like they were having a great time. read more

Old lodge with so much history and character which we were very fortunate to experience in our short stay. Our room had a close view of the water fall dropping onto the Yuba River and the very sound put us to sleep! We did the right thing by leaving the white noice machine at home! So tranquil! This spot parallels to nature and makes you forget about tuning out by watching TV and all that mind numbing devices... The property is lovely as stated on many of the photos. Next time we will definitely make a dinner reservation as we had the Birds Eye view on many of the plates that came through the kitchen while sitting at the bar. They looked amazing! But the most memorable experience was meeting Cindy the owner of Sierra Pines. She had gone above and beyond to take such great care of us wholeheartedly and that's hard to come by these days. I made reservations at this hotel months in advance for a very important and emotional reason: I was planning to stay here to honor what would have been my late father's birthday. I even requested time off work specifically for these dates, building everything around this trip. When confirming my reservation , I was told there had been a "computer glitch" and my reservation was given away. While I understand that technical issues can happen, it's how a business responds that truly matters -- and this hotel failed on that front. There was no sincere effort made to make it right. No comparable accommodations were offered, no urgency to help me find a solution, and frankly, not much empathy. It felt like I was just another number, not a guest whose plans were completely upended. This wasn't just a weekend getaway -- it was a deeply personal trip. The lack of responsibility, the absence of proactive customer service, and the total indifference to my situation were incredibly disappointing. This review is for the restaurant only We stayed in Sierra city at another lodge and wanted to go out for dinner and chose to go to Sierra pines. From the get go they are very interesting as they have a pond out front with 1000's of trout that they catch daily to serve as part of their menu. They also have a very old tree going right through the building which was really neat. There is a lot of history in this place which I found super intriguing. We had a reservation, and had no wait to sit down. However our wait time to be seen by our waitress was pretty long. We were sitting for probably about 20-25 minutes before we were helped which was pretty long. It was a little busy but not over the top so not sure what happened, but after that our server was pretty attentive! the bread is really good and mixed with different kinds. I ordered the Tuscan chicken pasta and my fiancé ordered the spaghetti. We were very impressed with the Tuscan chicken pasta! It had a lot of flavor and was really tasty. The spaghetti was also pretty good. We got soup as our side and it was a great portion size. We also shared the berry cobbler and it was super sweet and perfect, the best end to our dinner. On a whim we decided to road trip up to Sierra City from Yuba City for an adventure. We stopped at Sierra Pines Resort for a beverage and rest while exploring. We could not have picked a better spot! The staff is amazing and the owners Cindy and Glen are a delight! We ended up staying the night and having an amazing dinner. The food is of the caliber you would expect in a big city and the charm and atmosphere are what we love in a small community. Bravo Sierra Pines! We just got back from a wonderful visit to Sierra Pines Resort! We stayed three nights over Labor Day and it was super fun. The proprietors are great and while the cabins are a little rustic they were clean and well-kept. The food in the restaurant is great (you have to try the trout from the trout pond out front) and we had a nice BBQ in the meadow across the road that is also part of the resort. The river is a short walk away and there are tons of great hikes in the Lakes District. Can't wait to go back! read more

We stayed overnight at the Sierra Pines Resort and enjoyed the visit. Our cabin was old but clean. No complaints except that it was hot and stuffy with no AC. It cooled down enough for good sleeping with the windows open. We ate twice in their restaurant and I can highly recommend it. Food was tasty, perfectly cooked and service was lovely. The owners were gracious and helpful I think this is a little gem of a place. Oh, and one last thing...bring mosquito repellent. Just saying... read more

We stayed there in rooms right on Hwy 49 where their help also stays. They ran their truck for 30 minutes every day to charge the battery with the noise and exhaust blowing towards the room. It's really gone downhill. read more

Wonderful place to stay and enjoy a beautiful meal getting away from the big city. Came up for a gold prospecting show in nearby Downieville. Found this place thanks to Downieville's Facebook page. I was able book a restaurant level room and had no issues with noise.. In fact enjoyed hearing the nearby trout pond water fountain. Best is because these rooms are near the registration and restaurant we had internet. Had dinner here last night and tonight and meals and hospitality were wonderful. Missed out on Saturday night prime rib but has the Rib eye instead and it was perfect. Tomorrow's breakfast will be here and looking forward to biscuits and gravy and maybe trout the house speciality. My only recommendation is make sure you make a reservation for dinner not to miss out. read more

After an absolute nightmare with another wedding venue, we were forced to find a new event space in the area just a few months before our wedding so that we wouldn't also lose out on the deposits we paid to other vendors. We were so thankful to find Sierra Pines Resort. Cindy and Glen's kindness was a gift after such a long and heartbreaking process with the other venue. We were finally able to be excited about our wedding again! Throughout the planning process, Cindy was responsive and helpful in making our vision come to life. She coordinated with our vendors and went above and beyond on the day of to ensure our day was a success. The reception food was INCREDIBLE, our guests still talk about the steak. And everything was beautiful, it still feels like a dream. Throughout the weekend, she and her staff made our guests feel welcome. We came here to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday, a total surprise that the ownership and staff helped to protect. That part was really appreciated. The place is really cute. The decor is rustic, clean, and nicely decorated. The staff are really, really nice and helpful. The prices are reasonable and the drinks are varied with a good selection of wines and beers. The menu was really varied and can meet the needs of those with dietary restrictions. When our large party started getting served, I noted that every dish was plentiful, the proteins were really well presented, and it looked like they were all made with care. The problem was that the food seemed woefully under seasoned. The pork dish I had looked great, but was a bit underwhelming. The home made apple sauce was pretty good. My wife's crab cakes were well made, but also really lacked in the seasoning. A simple aioli would have elevated the dish or some other addition to add a little bit of flavor. read more

This gem was formerly known as Herrington's Pines Resort and now has new owners. Our hosts were very communicative and accommodating prior to our stay. We can't say enough about the kindness of every staff member we encountered, and the sweet chocolate lab, Jaspar, who befriended our son. When we arrived, we found our river/waterfall room to be charming and the deck a perfect place to enjoy the surroundings and the sound of the river. Think clean but rustic accommodations, location being the key to enjoy your stay, not necessarily amenities. We hiked down to the river and enjoyed fishing in multiple spots which were outfitted with picnic tables and chairs. We felt like we were in our own mountain paradise. The fire in the evening (ask if it isn't going) provided a perfect place to enjoy smores with our six year old. The stocked trout pond gave lots of entertainment - feeding, watching and finally catching our take-home dinner - a 19 inch rainbow trout. Our son couldn't have been happier with his bounty. There was a power outage the night of our stay, so it got a bit chilly in the room and pitch dark. Suggestion: put wall mounted flash lights by each door for these times. It did not take away from our stay. Emergency generators and a prepared staff were eager to make everyone comfortable and the restaurant was offering almost all items on the menu. The owner even did us the generous favor of opening up the trout pond for our son who was anxious to get a catch before our departure. We really appreciated this, especially during a hectic time. It really did make our trip even more memorable. Negative - wifi only works at the lodge, not in the rooms, which means download what you need or want to watch before going and expect to be out of touch - no scrolling newsfeeds or texting with friends & family - cell service is non-existent in most areas nearby. It is nice to unplug, but be prepared. Restaurant: We were lucky enough to stay on Saturday - their popular prime rib dinner night. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The full bar is a bonus. Dinner was a large portion (wished we had shared), bread warm, beef & barley soup amazing, salad wonderful and kids spaghetti was enormous. Breakfast was equally hearty and the fresh toast/bread was exceptional. Wish we had saved room for the cobbler, it looked phenomenal. Prices are what you would expect, not a bargain, but not a rip off. Overall: a great little getaway, we wish the owners well and hope this continues to be a success. We will be back. read more

Been going here since I was a wee little one and I would love to say that the charm is still there. It's so cute! Dinner was a special and it was so good! All though they are short staffed, they are doing their damn best!!!! Remember that when you drive all the way out there. It's not Dennys it's not your local diner it legit is a restaurant in the middle of no where that's so busy for it's size, have patience! Be kind and above all enjoy your time there cause it's truly a little gem. We stayed two nights, room was perfect dogs loved swimming in the river on the property and LOVED the big open beautiful well maintained grass across the street! (wish my lawn looked like that!) Dined again here last week. Both our prime rib dinners were outstanding! The roasted beet salad was delicious and the roasted brussels sprouts were the perfect accompaniment. Our stay here was a phenomenal end to one of the best, most relaxing weekends I have ever had with my dog. After backpacking in and staying overnight at a spectacular local lake, we decided to drive up and spend a night with our old friends Glen and Cindy that recently became the new owners of this resort. I was very happy that my dog Rusty was welcomed by them and their dog Jasper just as much as I was. After a much needed shower and nap in our very clean and comfortable room, I made my way to the bar for a couple drinks before diner was served. The fresh trout that was pulled out of their pond that afternoon was delicious! In the morning we walked down to the Yuba River that runs along the property. My dog that has never missed an opportunity to jump in every body of water that we have ever come upon enjoyed the river very much. We both loved eating the wild blackberries on the walk to a nice swimming hole where he again swam to fetch stick after stick that I would throw for him. On our way out we took the short drive to where the Pacific Crest Trail crosses the road and took the short hike to the bridge over Loves Falls. The drive home on Hwy 49 along the Yuba River is also one of the most beautiful and scenic drives in all of California. read more

This is a cute little restaurant attached to the resort. Rustic and comfy with a small pond out front. They started us out with a loaf of fresh baked (warm) bread. I could have made a meal on that alone it was so good. I ordered their Zydeco salad for dinner, which is a bed of mixed spring greens served with several large grilled shrimp and a giant crab cake. The shrimp was perfectly grilled. Sometimes crab cakes have too much bread crumbs mixed in them but not here. It was delicious. My friend had the Strawberry Spinach Salad which was also great. The service was very good. Our server was polite and made sure we had all we needed. We will be back to sample more. Stay tuned...... read more

Nightmare on Main Street... October 30, 2023... let me paint the picture. Today is my fiancé's 50th birthday. We live in Nevada City and wanted to get away for his birthday somewhere in the mountains. Fishing is his thing, a favorite since he was very young. I heard about "Sierra Pines Resort", their trout pond and that the restaurant there would cook any fish that you catch. The idea sounded perfect so I reserved and paid for 2 nights. Also, the "pet friendly" concept was appealing. The first night we arrived, we checked in at 7:30pm, and the owners seemed accommodating and I was so elated to be there. The morning after check in, my fiancé's birthday, we got our fishing poles ready, with lures and bait (I had called the owner after I made the reservation and double checked with her that this would be acceptable, and she said it was) and we went fishing. It didn't bother us that the "trout pond" was literally a coin fountain in front of the business, we thought it was great...at first. After I caught my first fish ever (I am the rookie), the owners came flying out of their room and their energy was so hasty and off putting. Right away they said "you cannot fish right now and you cannot fish at this time". I replied that we were not aware of that and we apologized. The owner (lady) said "well there is a sign right there". I looked over, and as I did it was a painted sign on a barn. I immediately told the owner it looked like a "vintage sign" that older established businesses have (ie. Milk 10 cents, Candy 5 cents, etc.) it just didn't look real. The owner was so disgusted and absolutely threw a fit, and kept saying the "sign says it all". I told her that I called and asked about the fishing, lures, etc, and that she never mentioned anything anywhere or anytime about this restriction. She replied with "well, I didn't know what dates you had reserved", even though the reservations were already made. Next thing you know, they're on the phone calling the Sheriff, and I look like a garbage pail kid but I just start crying. We packed up our things and left by 10:30am. I absolutely was so and still am so upset about this, nice birthday that I had planned. I did tell the owners that their communication was lacking at best, and their behavior was so inappropriate for owning this type of business. The Sheriff never showed up, didn't plan it, which makes me realize this is probably an ongoing waste of time that these owners are constantly imposing. Take my advice, don't stay here, unless you're into wasting your time and money on a complete guaranteed horror story. read more

I've been coming to the Sierra Pines Resort for 25 years. When I was younger I came to hike and now that I am older, I come to write and breathe. I come for the sounds of the wind in the trees and the river flowing nearby. The scent of the cedars and pines is calming. The food is excellent and the portions large. The restaurant is seasonal, but dinners can be arranged all winter from a shortened menu and will be brought to your room by the owners, including an ice-cold martini or other libation. I will continue to come once or twice a year as long as I can for rest, relaxation and to recharge my batteries. I think of the resort as rustic as pictures of the resort online will show but it is that rustic ambiance I am looking for. Imagine my surprise when I was rudely awakened one morning by a man screaming obscenities at the owners in a threatening voice because he could not fish as early in the morning as he wanted to. There is a well-maintained sign that might be considered "vintage." "Vintage" is one of the reasons to visit Sierra City. Vintage, however, does not mean that the rules on the sign were not intended to be considered. The rules clearly state there is no fishing before 10:00 or after 1:00. The rules also say there is no need for a license, no limit, and no tax. It listed the TROUT POND RULES, one of which was "all fish caught must be kept," along with the trout prices, like 0-10" is $8. And, since the owners appreciate dogs, there is a caution: RAW TROUT MAY BE HARMFUL TO DOGS. (I didn't know that.) The man continued to scream profanity loud enough that I stood on the bed to watch what was going on. He was threatening in manner. And, the owners did call the police realizing that it would take the sheriff 45 minutes to get there and they were on their own for that amount of time. The women, Leah, I assume, loaded the car as the man went to the room and came back with more abuse. She kept asking him to get in the car and stood in front of him pushing him away from the owners several times. She finally said she was leaving, got in the car and disappeared around the corner of the restaurant. He finally followed her. In the crazy world we live in, it is easy to complain about a place or the staff. In this case, there is a five-star rating system. Where is the rating chart for customers who have no regard for other patrons who might also be staying at the resort. I was awakened by a man repeatedly swearing in a loud, bullying voice. In the crazy world we live in, I didn't know if I was safe. I considered dialing 911 for myself. Warning: there isn't cell service here, one of the perks in my mind. I just watched and prayed that the child in man's clothes was on a verbal, not a physical rampage because his expectations were not met perfectly. If he and Leah had paid attention, they would have known how they were expected to act. I'll be back in the Spring. This retreat is more than worth putting up with the antics of a child. I am happy that the two people who were so rude disliked the location so much. I won't have to worry about their bad manners again. I can't complain. In 25 years, this is the only negative I have experienced. Thank you Glen and Cindy for hanging in there. read more

Sadly I would not recommend Sierra Pines Resort due to the actions of Cindy the owner. My adult daughter made a 2 night reservation for this weekend and dinner reservations for a special occasion. Due to her partner being in an accident and is in serious condition in ICU she cancelled their reservation Mon. 9/2. The owner refunded her one night and gave her a credit. I know for a fact they can easily fill that reservation since she had trouble getting that date weeks ago. She'll never stay there again nor will we after always enjoying the resort and previous owners. Cindy by the way sadly he is still in ICU. Maybe you'll see fit to refund the $141.00 you were holding as a credit when you ended up renting the room. Possibly improve your negative attitude. read more

We loved our 2 night stay here. Our cabin had a king size bed, microwave, coffee maker and mini fridge. The wifi worked fine, although we were close to the lobby. The resort is rustic and very comfortable. We enjoyed our afternoon wine sitting by the trout pond and looking up at the beautiful mountains. The Yuba River is behind the resort, it was raging when we were there but I imagine you can cool off in it when it's not so high. Now for the best part, the food! We ate dinner and 2 breakfasts in the restaurant. Everything was so delicious. Fresh salads, hot baked bread, the Tuscan Chicken was very good. My friend ordered the quinoa sweet potato fritters. Which were different and tasty. They don't charge resort guests corkage fee, a nice gesture! The avocado toast for breakfast was amazing, two big slices of good toast with an abundance of avocado, sprouts and feta, my favorite. My husband said the huevos rancheros was the best he has ever had. Every employee we came in contact with was so pleasant to talk to. We can't wait to return! read more

OK, you should know from the get-go that I live across the street and dine at Sierra Pines regularly. However, we never get tired of the friendly service, the appetizing food, and (duh) the spectacular view. Since the "new" owners took over, their grit and flexibility have been severely tested, and we have watched them roll with the punches during trying times. As the pandemic progressed, we did take-out at first, then pond-side dining and finally last week meal with our out-of -state family! Cindy and Glen not only welcome you visitors, but take good care of us locals - from historical society luncheons, to winter weekend dinners, to high school graduation. They're the real deal. You should pop to say hello and stay for hearty breakfast or a delicious dinner. read more

Sierra Pines Resort is a treasure. Perched just above the Yuba River, the location is a wonderful mix of get-away and fabulous people. Cindy & Glenn, the proprietors, seem to turn the dial to make things match whatever the guests want. Want to sit on your porch and read? Take your breakfast there and enjoy the sound of the river. Ready for a hike? They will point you at options that fit your desires & fitness. Want to mix with the locals? Sierra pines is host to community dinners and community musicians, and for much of the year, the bar is the town watering hole. The rooms cover the gamut from basic to including a kitchen & sitting room. The restaurant has a wonderful chef, and you will have missed out if you don't have at least one dinner there on your stay. The trout pond provides for some sport for those of us unprepared to wade into the river, and the kitchen will clean and prepare your catch! Finally, this is one of the only places in the area that will welcome you year-round. When you are ready to leave the city behind for a week or just for a couple of days, want to be comfortable and well treated, want a range of mountain activities, Sierra Pines will be a great destination for you. read more

I was a little shocked at some of these reviews! We had the BEST stay here! What a beautiful area and Glen and Cindy were so accommodating! Literally the nicest people! We ate at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast which did not disappoint! Did I mention that Cindy makes a killer martini??! We stayed in one of the large cabins and we found it very comfortable and had all necessary amenities and more. We found them to be very clean and we still had that sense of " camping" which we were looking for. This place is centrally located for all of the amazing lakes in the area. The only negative was the creek was a little low near them so we could not enjoy it...however if Glen and Cindy could have added water to it I am sure they would have! Guess I will just have to blame that 1 negative on the rain! read more
