Unfortunately Firebrand's execution doesn't match their pricing. Now if you're in a pinch this place serves its purpose, but for the past few times I've been here everything but their service is below standards. Our reuben sandwich was extremely skimpy. We had two slices of meat and when it came out to the table, it was already falling apart. Think "shrink-flation" and this is the poster child for it. Same can be said about the salad unfortunately. You could finish it in four bites and with greens going bad so quickly, you would think they would give you more of it for the price. Flavors were extremely sweet and the candied walnuts tasted stale. Of course to top it off was their chai latte. It felt like a chai la croix because it tasted like the chai was just breathed on the water instead of being mixed in it. Overall really disappointing place. I would purely stick to their breads and maybe their pizzas if you are consider trying Firebrand. read more

We LOVE this place! We only wish there was one closer to us in South Bay! Whenever we are up in the area to sail, we stop in. The open, spacious indoor and outdoor seating is perfect for loud kids, and enjoying fresh baked goods and lunch. The line looked long on a Sunday, but it moved at a swift pace with all of the staff playing their different roles effectively. The kids and my husband loved their burgers. He said it was cooked just right and had bacon on his. The fries were so fresh and tasty; we couldn't stop stealing from our daughter. ;) I had the quinoa bowl and it was so fresh and reminded me of a summer bowl I make, but even better with the addition of cut tomatoes and goat cheese. It was the perfect, healthy salad, (without all of the hard work making). ;) We decided to indulge in the cake pop this trip. It was huge and covered in sprinkles. I would say there probably wasn't much caffeine in it lol I was still yawning after finishing it, but that's ok as I wasn't expecting a big caffeine kick from a latte. Not getting this again and it makes me hesitate to want to try their other coffees. I stopped at this place for a lunch and it was the perfect place to be! We ordered quite a bit and all of the food was delicious. Tuna melt: They had a good portion of tuna to bread and it was perfectly balanced. The salad turned out good too with their vinaigrette. Chicken Club Sandwich: This sandwich felt clean and light where it wouldn't make me feel groggy after eating it. I liked how all the veggies and avocado paired well with the crispy chicken. The bread was slightly dry but it was fine since it came with a sauce and avocado in it. Ube latte: This drink was good but I feel like it wasn't creamy enough. It could've been because I got it with oat milk and iced. I had to add more sweetener to it and it was nice since there were sweeteners on the counter for me to add. Hadn't been to the new location in Alameda and was open to give them a try. The new space is quite expansive and is located on the old air force base. There is ample seating available inside and outside/covered picnic style benches. The menu options cover breakfast/lunch options, baked goods and breads. We decided to try the Reuben sandwich and the cobb salad. I tend to like my reuben toasted with sauerkraut and plenty of thousand island dressing. I wasn't thrilled with the sandwich overall as it missed the mark for me. The cobb salad was pretty good and I would definitely try it again. Stopped by Firebrand on a Monday morning for some breakfast, and it was delicious! Service was friendly. Everything is made to order so even though there was almost no one there, it took some time for my order to come out. I love the lofty ceiling and cool, airy interior. It's a great place to do work out of and they have free Wifi, as well as cool drinks (ube latte? Yes please! And they also have other variations of ube drinks and more, as well as soups, pastries, and sandwiches. They are, of course, known for their breads. My friend lives in Alameda and we met at the Ferry parking lot (free) to walk the trail. We worked up our appetite and landed here for a late lunch. They have a full service coffee menu with fun things like strawberry matcha lattes and house made pastries like matcha croissants. They also have cupcakes and you can order cakes and cupcakes for special events. Their lunch menu had salads and sandwiches along with pizza. We made a pit stop here on our way to visit some friends nearby based upon their recommendation. When the GPS routed us into the former naval base at Alameda Point, we thought it was routing us incorrectly. Turns out Firebrand is indeed at Alameda Point, occupying a former warehouse. They have a private parking lot out front, but spots are limited so you'll most likely find yourself parking on the streets during busy times. We arrived right around the afternoon during the weekend and found the line out the door. With every table inside and outside occupied. This apparently is due to bad timing on our part according to our local friends. As we noticed there are sport teams nearby for kids. And parents flock here afterwards for some lunch to feed all of the hungry mouths. Although we did not partake of any of the brunch/lunch menu, we did purchase a large assortment of delicious baked goods. Everything we purchased was delicious. With really flakey outer shells, and buttery soft bread on the inside. We look forward to coming here again in the near future. But will definitely time it better to avoid the lunchtime rush. Hubs and I were in the area for the brewery scene (also excellent), but this bakery is definitely what I'd feel the urgency to come back for. There's a nice indoor seating area as well as a large outdoor space overlooking the former Naval base. The quick service order system is efficient and friendly. It's set in what looks like a repurposed aviation warehouse, which gives it a cool industrial vibe with high ceilings and lots of natural light. There's plenty of seating both inside and out. You order at the counter and get a number for your table, which kept things moving smoothly. I was with my sister and brother-in-law and we shared the California Salad and Wagyu Roast Beef sandwich. The salad was super fresh and colorful -- packed with avocado, spiraled beets, shredded carrots, watermelon radish, cherry tomatoes, and crunchy tortilla strips on a mix of greens, all tied together with a tangy balsamic dressing. 8/10. The sandwich was hearty and delicious -- tender wagyu beef, melty provolone, and just the right kick from the horseradish sauce. 8.5/10. I also got a London Fog, which is my new favorite cafe drink order. They also had a variety of breads that looked amazing, plus breakfast items, soup, pizza, and even a kids menu -- so something for everyone. I heard good reviews about Firebrand but was either too tired or too full to try it. Well, this time we were tired, but needed something to eat before the trek home. I spotted this on Yelp, we drove by and when I saw the word "cafe" that hooked us in. I'm so glad we went with our instincts. We split a sandwich and the bread is amazing. I also got a cookie. I wished I had a reason to get bread because I would have picked it up for the week. If you do spend time at the breweries and need a quick bite, or need to pick up bread for the week, this is a good stop. Since our visit was in the afternoon, there weren't too many baked goods that all the Yelpers raved about, but from the bread alone, I'm sure it's worth it. read more

I ordered a jalapeño cheddar monkey bread and an ube latte. The pastry was a nice balance of savory, some tang from the jalapeño, and a little sweetness/flakiness as well. The ube latte was strong, carrying me through some work at the cafe for about 4 hours. I was in the area to run an errand and decided to search for breakfast nearby. Yelpers led me to this spot! Spacious bakery/cafe with maybe limited parking, but it helped that it was a weekend so nearby businesses were not open. They had a great selection of baked goods, and a breakfast menu that caught my eye. I settled on the crispy pork and jam sandwich on a biscuit, and brought home a savory kouign-amann and an almond croissant. I also tried the ube latte, which was pretty to look at. I probably could've gone with a regular latte instead. In any case, it's still a nice option and apparently very popular with families who may have been nearby at the Bladium or so. I really like the breads and pastries here but they always seem to be out of stock by late morning. What gets me though is the incredibly rude older "gentleman" who works the register. He always seems salty when being asked a question, cuts people off when ordering, and is in general quite unpleasant to interact with. Today I asked for muffins, they didn't have a set of six for sale but he wouldn't sell me the individual ones unless in a $18 sandwich. His attitude in conveying this information, however, was dismissive and condescending and not fitting for a business with strong community support. My second visit was much better than the first. I was disappointed the first visit when my side salad was just a pile of greens and my sandwich was just ok. This time I opted for the fries. Much better. The black burger was delish. It was flavorful and hearty. The bun was incredibly fresh, fluffy and amazing. One of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. Parking is easy with overflow available across the street. We arrived around 12:45 on a Wednesday afternoon and the lunch rush seemed steady, but reasonable. Note toast is only served until 11 AM. There is a wide range of pastries, including gluten-free and vegan. The pastries were just OK, but I saw a juicy cheeseburger slider plate that I'd like to return to try. They also have Strauss soft serve ice cream, but it was not very smooth and a bit icy. Firebrand is a great addition to Spirits Alley on the old Alameda naval base. It is directly next to a couple breweries and right across from a sports complex/gym. Such a great spot for this business! They have: -Specialty lattes like Buko Pandan, Tumeric Ginger, and Strawberry Matcha; -Lots of different pastries like a bomboloni, chocolate croissant, etc -Bottled drinks: water, apple juiced -Assortment of Numi Teas -A full menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner items, including pizza! If you go to breakfast, I highly recommend the Pico de Gallo Potatoes or the Biscuits and Gravy! So delicious and filling. Their Mushroom Melt toast is also a great go-to if you're looking for something smaller to eat. Other things I love about this place: - you can order food and bring it with you to the breweries right next door! - it's family friendly, with a cool jumbo connect four game and cornhole outside - there is indoor and outdoor seating The only downside is that the wait can be really long if you are there on the weekends and going at the hour mark when soccer classes across the street are done. The aesthetics of this bakery reminded me of Amsterdam; it was so cute and the interior was beautiful. If you go in the morning the sun shines in and it is just the best place to hangout with friends to grab a pastry in the morning! They have ritual coffee which I really like and I ordered a capp. We also ordered their breakfast pizza which has egg! We also ordered their French toast, a kouign aman, and a couple other pastries.
