08 Trailblazer 3LT Belltech lowering kit So frustrated with different alignments locations. Some say "I'm not touch that" some say "oh it's fine with caster and camber are off". Caster are off way backward and get hard and feel the stress when turn on left or right not reach the limit yet. Wallingford Chevrolet Service desk kept say it fine I said no it not fine! Please fix it. They gave me Silas Deane Auto phone number. I called and spoke with Shaun the situation. He said of course come over and I'll take care of it for you. So I came and hand the key to Shaun, wait for 2 hours because Trailblazer front alignment really pain in @$$. While I'm waiting I saw my trailblazer came parked outside I went out to look at caster and camber. Looks good to me so I went back inside and Rob told me all ready and gave me the alignment result. I'm so so pleased with the result are so perfect! Finally I'm satisfied and leave park lot in big smile! I can't thank you enough Shaun and Rob for your excellent service and took very well care of my Trailblazer! Mostly definitely come again for alignment in future! As long as I live in Connecticut, if I need any work done on my car ever that Jay can't do at home, I'll come here. This was my second time coming here, and they haven't disappointed both times. They actually LISTEN to what you have to say to them, so ladies, go here instead of those other chain places. Too often I've had guys at car places talk over me and not listen to what's wrong and what I need done (side note, my dad's a certified mechanic, so I kind of know what I need done to my car). The owner Shaun is incredibly nice, and I'd trust him and his crew with whatever you need done. Also in the waiting area is a super comfy couch, tv, and table with magazines. If I could bring the couch home with me too, I would. What's nice too is I work 9-5 and they are open 7-6, so I can go in before work if I ever need anything done on my car. So I hope if anything ever does happen to your car and you're on Yelp looking for a place within a 20 mile radius (cuz you obvs wouldn't drive farther than that) come here. read more

I have had my fair share of horrible experiences from major repair shops like Meineke and Pep Boys. Nothing beats the service from people who care about their customers. I came here today without an appointment and in need of a complete front brake replacement. They accommodated me and went out of their way to get the wifi going for me! But it wasn't just me they were gracious with... I watched them (Rob) deal with an older lady who was very needy and wanted an explanation of everything they were doing step by step. She was rude to them and got angry and very confused easily, yet they showed great restraint and patience with her. He even brought the piece out to her so she could have a visual display of exactly what he was talking about. Most people don't have patience like that and they handled her superbly. Fast service. These guys were available last minute to replace a burnt out alternator in my Pilot. Very Clean and Comfortable shop. From the customer service to the car service, everything gets five stars from our family. I usually have the kids with me, so the free beverages, couches and t.v. really make it much more convenient if I have to wait. They are also very accommodating. I was leaving for vacation and noticed I had a very shaky steering wheel. I called the shop and explained my concern and they told me I could bring my car in as soon as I could seeing that I had plans to leave on vacation. I was there maybe 10-15 minutes and then we were on our way. (balanced tires) I was so grateful for not loosing any time on my travel plans. Definitely spreading the word, Best Shop Around!! decided to go here because of the few yelp reviews and close proximity. the staff were very nice. one of them drove me home while i left my car there to be worked on. plenty of parking in their lot. nice reception area with couches and magazines. my car was done by the end of the day, which was nice. they called me at each step to let me know what's wrong with my car and ask what i wanted to do. i respect that a lot. there was only 1 thing that ticked me off. they diagnosed my car and thought the thermostat was the problem, so they replaced that. it turns out that was NOT the problem! so they had to replace the sensor. basically, i paid double the price when only 1 thing needed to be done, which was unfortunate. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. I brought my jeep because it was doing a violent shake which has happened multiple times since I've had the car. I have gotten this fixed before, always been a simple fix. When I brought the jeep in they charged me 1300$ for all these different things that were apparently wrong. I paid and went on my way. Within 2 weeks I had to bring it back because it continued to shake. They then said I had to pay 270$ because it was the brake pulsation (not sure why they didn't check this when I first brought the jeep in). They said they didn't see this because the other stuff was "so bad." So despite me telling them the shaking only occurred when I hit the brakes, they didn't think it was a smart idea to actually check the brakes the first time I brought the jeep in. I was never apologized to, nobody expressed understanding my frustrations... Terrible customer service. The guy on the phone told me they "don't have a crystal ball" to see everything... Completely unnecessary and uncalled for way to speak to a customer. When I picked the jeep up after deciding to not have them continue servicing my car no apologies were given. I would not recommend this place they do the bare minimum, charge you 1300 and don't fix the problem then they want to charge you for something else. read more

I had been using a different company for automotive repairs. I had a somewhat serious problem with my vehicle and someone recommended SDA. Their place is close to where I am working. So , I thought I would try them. They were able to look at it pretty quickly and got back to me me with the diagnosis and cost. It is an older vehicle and the cost did seem fair. I was a little nervous about using somebody new but before I knew it they called and texted to let me know I was all set. I will definitely use their services again. I cannot say enough good about this shop! I was literally 40 miles into an 800 mile trip when my car started making a terrible noise. I pulled off the highway and found Silas Deane Auto - I was recommended by the gas station up the street. I explained my situation and within minutes they had the car up on the lift and had diagnosed the problem (a broken shock mount and some ball joints that were seriously dangerous (I didn't realize they were so bad...)). Even though the shop was supposed to close the owner stayed and fixed everything himself -- he was there for over 2 hours after closing, working on my car. We got out of there at 8 PM and on our way -- made the rest of our trip safely, the car felt much better! :) The waiting room is small but clean, with a nice couch and chairs, cable, wifi, free coffee & cocoa & juice. The shop is conveniently located right off of 91 on Silas Deane Highway - it was only 3 blocks or so from the exit. The parking lot is well labeled and has plenty of parking. Everyone I spoke to, Shaun (the owner) and Rob (office manager?) and another guy (sorry I forgot his name!) were super helpful - friendly, personable, and just plain kind. I wish I lived closer - I would bring my car back there any time. read more

Rob (and owner Sean/Shawn) really helped me out. My car went into "limp mode" and check engine light came on while driving on the highway (84 I think) as I was driving to PA. I exited the highway and Silas Deane auto was just a few hundred feet away. I asked them to check the codes to see if it was what my friends suspected - I had commented on it all on a FB chat. They checked the codes, and then tried to get the part that evening to fix it. unfortunately, it was a bit too late for that, but they offered to fix it first thing the next day if I could stay over. I ended up calling a tow since I had AAA premium and it would be free, they let me hang out until the shop closed at 6:00. then Rob said if the truck didn't show or whatever, to call the ship first thing and they would pick up the part and get it done. Really great crew, honest, and obviously willing to help out even if you have to just "walk in". The lounge is really nice with a Kuerig type machine, little fridge with some free drinks, TV and free WifI. If I lived around here, I would definitely take my car to these guys! read more

Staying in Rocky Hill for work, I came out to my car one night to find a puddle of power steering fluid underneath it. Looked on the Internet for some local places, and found several highly-rated garages within a few miles of each other. The first couldn't take me, the second didn't answer and so I called Silas Deane. They could not have been more professional, honest and helpful. They even discovered that two of my lights were out, which would have been a guaranteed ticket on the way home because i probably wouldn't have noticed. The price was beyond reasonable, and all charges and work was fully explained in advance. I almost want to take my car to Connecticut just to get it serviced now. Very highly recommended. read more

My first Yelp post: I bought a used car with ~70k miles from Silas Deane Auto (SDA) last October. I unfortunately had a bad experience with them. After going back and forth about a funny noise the front wheels were making SDA assured me that the issue was cupped tires (relatively cheap to fix--and you get new tires!) and not a bad wheel bearing (expensive to fix--and no new tires). After going back and forth several times they assured me that the issue was the tires and not the wheel bearing--what they were basing this on was a little vague but they said that rotating the tires had made the issue worse, suggesting a tire issue. I trusted their professionalism. Now, six months and 3k miles later, I've discovered from an independent mechanic that the tires are fine and that the left front wheel bearing is the issue--and that it will be over $500 to fix. (I also spent over $1000 on rear brake issues--but they made no representations about the brakes so I can't complain!) I've followed up and SDA is unwilling to admit the mistake/misrepresentation or to pay for the new wheel bearing. SDA's integrity is not up to my standards. I would avoid if you have better options. read more

I brought my car in to have the air conditioning evacuated and recharged. I made an appointment for 0730 and was out by 0820. Excellent customer service by Shaun that day. Let me state that I'm an old car guy who can no longer handle certain repairs. What's important to me is a trustworthy shop looking to create long term customers. This shop is honest when it comes to diagnosing the job with its associated costs. The original estimate was around $160 and the actual job came in at $140. When people ask me for repair advice I will point them to Shaun and Rob. read more

As noted by others, Silas Deane Auto is home to some super nice people. I had a situation come up suddenly on my car and though I had no appointment (this is a busy professional garage, not a 10 minute oil change shop) they let me drop it off first thing Saturday morning and managed to work me in. This shop is very clean and in a good location. While their hourly charge is about normal for a good shop in the area (posted on their wall at 100/hr) they definitely did not jack me with excessive hours and I walked away feeling like I was treated very well and charged more than fairly. They also did some diagnostics without charge, which I did not expect. I live nearby and have an older car, and I'm pretty sure I'll be seeing these guys again. I was told that the bumper needed to come off to change light bulb. Truth is is it took less than 5 minutes as it was just snap on type. Got charged $53 and the car was kept idle in the garage for about 20 minutes just to pretend that it took some time to change the light bulbs. read more
