The staff was super helpful and gave me a lot of information to get me pointed in the right direction for what I wanted to do with my teeth. Update: You can see my previous review and if I could give Silicon Valley Dental more than 5 stars I would. It's a small woman-owned business and the atmosphere is nurturing. My previous review focused on their skill and teamwork. This update will focus more on the team's progress. I've been going to Silicone Valley Dental for nearly ten years. Dr. Jog, Sarah and Nancy are old friends. The biggest difference between now and ten years ago is how the entire team has elevated their dentistry skills. When I started deep cleanings were reserved for a specialist. Crowns, root canals, implants were strictly reserved for their network of meticulously chosen specialists. I found this network to be easy to work with, friendly and supremely expert. I trust Silicon Valley Dental to make good choices But now it's ten years later and deep cleanings and crowns are in house. It's not just Dr. Jog who has elevated her skills, the entire team has elevated their skills. Part of this is the new technologies that make these procedures simpler and easier but clearly the staff needs advanced training to take on these responsibilities. So in addition to friendlliness, good judgement, careful selection of specialists, I must add that Silicon Valley invests in their staff and all benefit. I add social responsibility, support for staff and advancing women's careers to the list. Silicon Valley should be proud of themselves. They deserve it. I would be extremely remiss to forget their fees. They are amazingly reasonable. If you call around and ask about prices for crowns, it's phenomenally higher. I've moved out of the Bay Area but I still commute about 2.5 hours to get here. So far, I haven't found any dentist who comes close. Original review. I've been going to Silicon Valley Dental for about 7 or 8 years now. Dr. Jog is a caring and trustworthy dentist. Sara (the dental technician) is amazing. Nancy takes care of the billing and she is meticulous and sharp. One of the things I like that about Silicon Valley Dental is the teamwork, they talk to each other, they communicate small details that add to the big picture. When I first came to Silicon Valley Dental, I was quite ill and like about half a dozen other medical practitioners, Dr. Jog figured it out in about a heartbeat but the interesting thing was both Sarah and Nancy made separate observations and soon the entire office knew to look out for certain symptoms. You can see the teamwork in action again I had four cavities which my previous dentist had discovered. However, he passed away and now I have four big cavities. The entire team prepped and they filled and drilled all four cavities. I was shocked by how little time it took. I've also had implants, root canals, and crowns. For these, Dr. Jog referred me to specialists. I was impressed by her network of specialists, they were caring and meticulous in their work. I've also had deep cleanings. Deep cleanings are absolutely no fun at all thank goodness the technology has advanced, and the painkillers have improved radically. I can never recommend them, but they're a lot better than they used to be. I moved away about a year and a half ago. Really if I were more sensible, I suppose I would have found a dentist closer to home but Dr. Jog and her team are wonderful and I lack of motivation to do so. So yes I'm driving in an hour and a half to see Dr. Jog. They are that good. read more

Amazing experience for emergency wisdom tooth removal. After my wisdom tooth removal, I returned 2 months after to get my full mouth deeply cleaned. I have been a patient of this facility for 2 years. Now my wife and my daughter also joined this facility for dental care. My teeth are basically healthy and I just want to use up the insurance provided 2 free preventing cleaning each year. They never push me to do the service that I don't want to do like deep cleaning. And they will ask you whether or not to take X-rays and if you don't want to they will not take it. They're very nice and hospitable. read more

Find another dentist! Last month my mom was in a tremendous amount of pain and could hardly eat or speak due to a crown that had popped off leaving a jagged tooth. I explained all of this to Dr. Jog who misdiagnosed my 81-year-old mother; she didn't address the pain and instead she insisted on an invasive 10 min "deep clean" with only gel and would not give her any local anesthesia i.e., Novacaine. I could hear my mom crying out in pain from the other room and Dr. Jog didn't stop the procedure...there's so much more that happened that left us in shock. Dr. Jog then referred my mom to another dentist whom she saw 5 days later...yep 5 days later. He did an exam and was astonished that she referred us to him as determined that she did not need an invasive root canal, nor did she need to be taking antibiotics; she needed a referral to a periodontist to treat her gums and have her cavity filled! Unbelievable! If I could give this dentist ZERO stars I would. read more

My worst dentist experience ever. First the basic Xrays are taken by a lady. The Xray quality was not satisfactory. Looked like a sloppy job. They do not have panaromic Xray as well. Then another lady came to take some camera images. Finally the doctor just checked the gum for 3 mins and done. She even forgot to brief me of my tooth conditions. I had to ask to tell me. I asked for regular cleaning and they did not agree. They wanted to do deep cleaning and asked for $185 as a copay. I felt like all they want is my insurance money. Thats it! Very unprofessional. Moreover, when I asked for the Xray copies they told me to take photo of the screen with phone! I told them to email me and the doctor said that it is hard! Totally unexpected behavior. Silicon Valley Dental told me I needed a deep cleaning and had 4 cavities. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and they found 0 cavities and I did not warrant deep cleaning. Additionally, the staff was rude and the overall experience was painful. The hygienist struggled to get the x-ray device in my mouth and insisted that I was the worst patient she had ever seen. I really wish I could give Silicon Valley Dental ZERO stars. After seeing the same dentist (Dr Vierra at Plaza Dental Group) my entire life, I was forced to choose a new dentist because the insurance my job offers is not accepted at Plaza Dental Group. I chose Silicon Valley Dental without doing any research beforehand and man am I kicking myself in the ass for making that mistake. About 2 yrs ago, I had my first (and LAST) appointment here. Dr Jog told me I needed to have deep cleaning done on my teeth and also said I had about 8 cavities. I was shocked and suspicious. How could I this be? Never in my life had I been told that my dental hygiene was that awful. My experience their only got worse every second I was there. The hygienist was not gentle at all and I was still in pain about 2 days later. And Dr Jog seemed very rushed when she was cleaning my teeth and examining me. She was not personable whatsoever. Then she made me watch this video about tooth decay and had her assistant show me this $300 electric toothbrush that she was trying to get me to buy. On my way out of the office I was handed this sheet of paper telling me how much I would need to pay to fix my cavities. The total was some atrocious amount. I told the receptionist that I would call them to set up my next appointment, knowing that I would not go back there. And I didn't go back. It's been 2 yrs since my appointment and I have not seen a dentist since then because my experience here was so traumatizing. A few weeks ago, I chose a new dentist after reading some reviews on Yelp. I plan to schedule an appointment soon. Fellow yelpers, please don't let me down! read more

Wow, what an experience. They scared me to death, I walked in with no known problems, and walked out of the 'financial lady's" office with a $19,000 bill.....$9,000 of which is my responsibility, Mind you I have one of the best dental insurance programs offered and still they said I was responsible for that much. They wanted my credit card right away to start charging me and when I said "uh, No" they wanted my SSN to obtain a dental loan. According to them, I needed two crowns, two root canals, 12 cavities, 6 extractions, a $1600 DEEP CLEANING, and more. They showed me a video and then told me if I didn't have the deep cleaning, I could have a heart attack from bacteria entering my blood stream. While I know there is research behind this, they used it as a scare tactic. Here, let's swipe your card for $500 (my portion of the $1600) for the "deep cleaning". I called my insurance company and ran all this by them, they were flabbergasted. They said that the MOST EXPENSIVE cleaning available is only $140 for me with insurance. When asked for a detailed breakdown of costs, they denied me. When asked for a copy of my x-ray printout (readily available on the computer), they said no. I walked out of there laughing out loud once I got that estimate. I am 25 years old with good dental health....not almost $20,000 in work needed. STAY AWAY from this place. I was suspicious when I got home so looked online and found this site with verbatim experiences. I also found numerous other sites with similar complaints. Again, avoid this place AT ALL COSTS! read more

DO NOT go to this dental office. Because of negligence by Dr. Jog, I have incurred over $8,000 in unnecessary dental fees beginning with Dr. Jog breaking off a front tooth, and trying (unsuccesfully) to glue it back on. As another reviewer stated, I too had a change in my insurance and could not go to my long term dentist (shout out to Dr. Russell di Bari, the greatest dentist in the area) so ended up in the not so capable hands of Dr. Jog. I felt like I have been scammed by this office. I really wished I had checked yelp before going. If I could give the office ZERO stars I would. I am reporting them to the California Dental Board, I recommend you do the same if you have a similar experience. Here's my experience: I only needed a simple bi-annual cleaning. The office confirmed that they accept my HMO insurance before I went in and that the cleaning and x-rays are all included by my insurance. I went ahead and called my insurance to have to move my provider to this office. The first impression was "wow this office is really rich", the reception area itself was larger than half of most dental offices I have been to. After an hour of x-rays taken by a computerized x-ray system, and enlarged pictures of my teeth taken by a small digital video camera, I finally got to see the doctor. The doctor spent 10 min with me and then told me she will NOT do the cleaning today. WHAT? She said I needed a DEEP cleaning that involves shots and anesthetics, and that I have some minor cavities that should be filled in. Meanwhile, every dentist I have ever been to my whole life (about 7 of them) tells me I have good teeth, I have never had cavities, and cleanings usually take 30 min for me. So I asked how she fixes cavities. The "doctor" told me that they would enlarge the cavity to clean it out, then fill it in. Something was fishy. She then sent me to the finance manager, who gave me a quote totaling over $5000, including a $500 deep cleaning treatment, and various mysterious cavities that they wanted to fix. She also told me that my insurance was crap and covers nothing. Now I understood what was happening. They were trying to up-sell me on dental work!! They wanted to drill holes in my teeth and re-fill them in (those "cavities" they found) then feed me an astronomical bill. That is not only a monetary scam, but it is morally wrong. This is not just some scamming car dealership deal where you lose some cash, this has to do with people's dental health! No wonder their office is so posh. read more

PLEASE DONT GO THERE! I went for a check up and the doctor diagnosed me with the need for a deep cleaning without following the proper procedures such as checking the depth of my gums. She merely looked at my teeth and said I needed it. THEN they were going to charge $1382 which would require me to pay $525 out of my own pocket. I got a second opinion at The Tooth Spa (which was a great experience!) where the doc checked my gums and said I needed a regular cleaning NOT a deep cleaning with a valid explanation. Not to mention their deep cleaning price is $756 as opposed to $1382! So I went back to Silicon Dental to pick up my ex-rays. Those scum bags charged me $25 dollars for a photo copy! That's right, one sheet of paper which surprised my doc and made it difficult for her to examine...but she did great!! BEWARE! INCOMPETENCY, FRAUDULENT, and RUDE I wish I could give this place no stars. After many attempts to figure out why they needed my money upfront for my crown, I realized now the incompetency and scam after reading other yelpers reviews. My problem has been now going on for 6 months. I have tried multiple times to see why they cant figure out how to bill my insurance company. From what i can figure out is they don't really care, because they got the money up front from me. they said they would pay me back once the insurance paid them out. the insurance company has told me that SVD has billed it incorrectly and have no idea what the codes that they sent in mean... A few weeks ago I finally was fed up and asked to talk to the manager. At first the manager seemed to be polite- i proceeded to tell her that I'm tired of having to follow up about my money and to please try to figure out why the insurance is not understanding their billing codes submitted. She told me that I had an attitude problem- and that they have been in business for many years... (mind you, at this point i was not irrational- yet)- so I told her she was the one with the attitude...click... yep she hung up on me. I hit the roof and I called back... she wouldn't take my calls. So, I haven't figured out where to report them... but once I do- I'll gladly post it here.
