I was craving sushi, had a significant hangover- vacation time and all. I was looking for a sushi spot that I hadn't tried yet and was recommended this one. The place is beautiful and it has expensive parking in the back. I arrived at about 2pm on a sunday and it was empty, i mean i was the only person there! you know thats a bad sign. The food was mediocre at best, very expensive and the service was spotty. I think there are better places in San Juan to get your sushi fix. read more

We ended up getting shut out of several restaurants tonight until we came to this restaurant Silk. We were greeted at the door and waited on my young man name Rafael. It was late and they were closing in about 15 minutes but you never would've known by the way he treated us and gave us such great service and continue to tell us to stay as long as we need to. It's hard to find excellent service like that these days. Thank you Silk for the amazing food and for hiring such an amazing waiter. Good sushi. Excellent service. One Japanese beer (Asahi). Nigiri is priced per one piece. (How can nigiri come as one piece???). It's a good sushi spot. I will return to try some of the Chinese food on the menu. read more

Excellent restaurant. Every dish was on point. The server was very personable and we really appreciated his service. We tried roast duck - it was perfect, with crispy skin and tender meat. Mandarin chicken, bok choy, spicy beef, lo mein, steamed fish everything was delicious. We were not expecting an authentic Chinese food experience but Silk delivered. We ordered take out yesterday (august 17 2020). We took a bite of the pork dumplings and we knew something was very wrong. We opened them up to see raw pork. This is extremely dangerous and I would not trust this place (especially for things like sushi) after this experience either. Ordenamos take out ayer (agosto 17 2020). Great place!!! Had a fantastic lunch here. Spicy salmon, spicy crab and philly roll. Crab Rangoon and Sunomono salad for appetizers and fried ice cream and an amazing almond cake for dessert. Great food, excellent service. Quiet pseudo romantic atmosphere. Highly recommend it if you are in the area and in the mood for sushi/Asian fusion cuisine. read more

This gets a NEGATIVE ZERO STARS from myself and family. OUR WAITRESS SUCKED , HER ATTITUDE SUCKED, HER PROFESSIONALISM SUCKED .. from the minute she walked over to our table she had an attitude. She gave us no menu and then when asked she gave an attitude , we asked for regular napkins and with an attitude she said slammed them on the table. I asked her what was her problem and then she began to curse. It took EVERYTHING out of me not to slap the shit out of her. The manager was not on staff which was odd because a manager should always be on shift during business hours . We politely got up and left all of our food and drinks that was just delivered to the table. We will not take this kind of serve spending our money in their establishment. A classy Asian fusion restaurant. It seemed like both tourists and locals were here. A good place for date night. Food was just ok. # Walnut shrimp - the actual shrimps used were large and high-quality. The walnuts ever so slightly sweetened. Broccoli was cooked with a good amount of crisp to them. The actual cream sauce was ok if a lot less of it was used. It just got to be overwhelming in flavor. # Sushi - I got a spicy salmon roll. The flavor of the spicy sauce seemed off from what it usually is supposed to taste like -- maybe as if they used regular mayo and Sriracha sauce, instead of Japanese mayo + red chili paste. The roll didn't hold together perfectly. The pieces stuck together, so it required some coaxing to get each individual roll to hold up it's shape as I lifted each towards my mouth. Service was good. Food came out quickly. Refills on water were prompt. Servers were easy to get ahold of, but weren't also lurking around us either. Overall, I can't in quite good conscious give this place 4-stars ("Yay! I'm a fan"). It really is more of a 3-stars ("A-OK") by the Yelp-metric read more

This place was just next to my hotel during my visit to San Juan, so I decided to give it a try. I found Silk to be a little spendy. I have to agree with Danielle T. The sushi here is 3 stars, A-OK. I have not tried the rest of the menu, but based on just the sushi, it's average at most. They do have some original rolls, and I will give those a try. What a great place for some oriental food! The waiter was great and the owner was welcoming as well. Ambience is excellent and makes a nice date spot. We got the Mandarin chicken, General Tsos chicken, and beef and chicken lol mein. All the dishes were excellent. The price point is a bit on the higher side; however, the service, and food is so fresh it makes it difficult to argue. read more

Been here twice in the past 2 weeks while staying at the doubletree usually excellent service and above average food But on my 3 rd visit today I was sat in the bar area by the window and was then ignored for 15 minutes it was sad as the restaurant wasn't busy but I guess I won't try on a Wednesday again as obviously the good staff must be off that night read more

I was very surprised there were so many Chinese restaurants in San Juan. This place was recommended to us by an employee at the spa in the same building. Parking was easy due to the parking garage and the inside of the restaurant was clean and inviting. Service was a bit slow but that could have been because we needed to catch a flight and needed fast service. The cream cheese wontons were spectacular but the entree was a let down. We ordered mu shu pork which was supposed to come on a crepe but Instead was pork, mushrooms, cabbage and hoison sauce wrapped in a flour tortilla. It was not even lukewarm and just didn't blend well together. The flavors were just off. Maybe we chose the wrong entree, but our last meal in San Juan wasn't memorable. read more

This restaurant was situated in a high end shopping center. Parking is expensive otherwise but can be validated by the restaurant. We came on a Monday during lunch time. The place was absolutely dead. There was only one customer on the inside, which could probably seat about 200. The inside of the restaurant is dim, gloomy, and smells heavily of moldy carpet. One smell and we immediately went back outside. We ended up sitting outside and ordered a fish filet, Beijing pork chop, mixed veggies, singapore noodles, and some other not so memorable dish. The only dish that was actually good was the fish filet. Everything else tasted not like Chinese food at all. The price was very steep at $16-30/dish while the portions were small. The miso was too salty. The edamame were not cooked enough. Sushi was very mediocre. On the plus side the atmosphere is nice. Service was great. My wife's Kung Pao was pretty good. it seems like ordering the Chinese dishes would be smarter here than the Japanese. read more

I have lived in the building 6 months, walked past Silk NUMEROUS times. Never in my mind would I believe this to be the heart of deliciousness . The atmosphere reminds me of a little place in Newport Beach CA. Lite jazz in the background, dark curtains and the sound of the bartender shaking iced drinks in the bar. The smell in the air is light & exotic. Hard to believe Loiza 6pm traffic is just outside - its quiet. The service is quick, some what distant but efficient. The food...oh the flavors! The miso is perfectly seasoned. Hot and delish! The black mushroom & tofu is savory in a sauce of sesame oil? Soy sauce? Green onion? Just yummy! Dessert is flippin' ginger flan! WHUT! OH MY - one bite and I was in heaven. It's a little pricey but the food was fresh. The flavors bold. And the service quick. I guess i WILL have to venture downstairs more often. I went to this restaurant my first night in Puerto Rico. It was close to my hotel and I didn't feel like going far for food. 1. The servers were extremely friendly and helpful. My experience was pleasant due to my server's assistance. He helped me sellect the Singapore Noodles. They were delicious. The only small thing was the noodles were supposed to have vegetables and they didn't. My experience was too good to raise a stink or send it back. We were craving Asian food SO bad during our trip to San Juan and this restaurant was right next to our hotel. We ordered the black mushroom and tofu and the steamed fish and everything came out super quickly and hot. The waitress was so sweet and prompt with helping us and the food was excellent. Keep in mind, we are pretty critical of Asian food, considering we are from Asia, but the food exceeded our expectations by so so much. We arrived at 10:20pm on a Saturday after a late flight into Puerto Rico. We were staying next door at the Doubletree and were told to try Silk since it was so late at night. Boy were we glad we walked over! Service was great. California roll for my son was freshly prepared. I must say the service was great, fast, very friendly and eager to please, a pleasant location, too dark, I barely could read the menu, you will need your smartphone lantern app, only one thing, do not seat nearby the main hall, the dropping silverware noise is unpleasant. You will find a good selection of asian appetizers and chinese main dishes, a short list of nice sake, and a sushi menu-sheet that only says the rolls/maki name without description, must ask to the server to describe them. The home made pork gyozas or steam dumplings were ok, also the rolls were good in texture, size and presentation, the sushi rice needed a bit of seasoning, the kushiyaki were standard, the ebi or shrimp one wit a pinch of salt would have been great, the tuna tataki was different, I would say that although it's presentation was not careful, it's sweet taste did not displease me at all, very daring move. Rating this sushi restaurant in Puerto Rico was tough because a lot of things need to be considered regarding food in Puerto Rico. I was so thrilled to not be eating at a place where the entire menu is nothing but meat and deep fried dough stuffed with meat. With that considered, Silk was a welcome change on our last day in PR. The sushi is like the 3 star rating: A-OK. The service was wonderful...very friendly and always checking on you. The prices were a bit high, but the sushi was tasty and we definitely had a lot of it. The martinis are tempting, but for 12 bucks I stuck with a 5 (!) dollar Medalla light. The sushi pairs come as singles, but there's enough fish on them for what you'd normally get as a pair in the states. This was a pleasant surprise. The biggest thing from keeping Silk from getting a higher rating was that they didn't have a single thing on the menu that was local fish sushi. I was so disappointed. One additional warning - they call the crab they use something special with a "K" (I can't remember the name)...we ordered a lot of it and I thought maybe it was the only local thing on the menu. Turns out it is just the imitation crab. Womp. Womp. For Puerto Rico this place is a great find for those sick of all the heavy fried food and meat. As far as sushi goes, you can find way better back in the states. read more

This place is pretty good. I got the sesame chicken and fried rice which came out too 11 dollars which wasn't too bad. They gave me a decent amount of chicken but some of the chicken was crispy pieces with no chicken in it. The rice was really good. I would go back to eat. read more

We've been both here in person and have ordered take out, we'll definitely NOT be back. the first time I considered writing a review is when I realized that they charged us the same for plain veggie and cucumber rolls as they ask for tuna rolls. To charge $7 for something that's a fraction of the price of raw fish is ballsy and bold to say the least. Now in our last order we also got the mushroom & tofu dish and all of a sudden I see my husband spit out his food. He seriously bit on a piece of chicken! He got the biggest chunk and I found more of them throughout the dish. To find meat in a vegetarian dish is absolutely repulsive and honestly if this is the case here I would be very concerned about their cleanliness in general, especially during Covid.
