    I moved this cabinet in the right direction

    Overall I'm extremely disappointed with my experience with Silk Way Movers. I was moving out of a 1400 square foot home with several pieces of large furniture (table, bar, desk, end tables, couch, bed, chairs, shed, etc.). I took an inventory of many of the big items we needed moved, and I'll admit I did not have a full inventory of the small items and a couple of the larger items. Based on the size of the home and the pictures I provided, they should have had a good indication of the size of the job. They provided a 3 man crew that arrived at 10:30 am. One person spoke English, the other two folks spoke only Spanish. As you can probably imagine, having an English-speaking supervisor giving instructions to folks that do not speak English is a problem in and of itself. When they arrived at my house, it was like they were problem solving for the first time, assessing the logistics of moving all my items. I expected some strategy as to what they were moving and why, but I didn't see much of that. Instead I saw a supervisor struggling to communicate to the two other employees. I saw an excessive amount of wrapping and taping to eat the clock. I saw three employees that lacked the skill of using a hand drill (of which I provided). I disassembled and reassembled all my furniture, because I could see they struggled with basic aspects of moving. It took four hours for them to move 15-20 items of furniture and about 15-20 boxes into the truck. They informed me they would need to take two trips. While they were completing their first trip, I stopped by the house I was moving from to pick a few things up. When I came back, I saw a fourth member helping move things into my house. As I got to my new house I asked the group who the fourth member of the team was. The supervisor said - "I don't know him." Rewind five minutes before, this stranger was helping him move things through a doorframe and no one from the team thought to say anything. I repeat -- A STRANGER on the street started helping this team move and no one told this person that they are not allowed to touch my belongings, enter my new house, etc. When I told this vagrant street dweller to get off my property, he demanded payment from the moving company. Eventually the police got involved as this person tried to steal things off of the moving truck. What company lets random strangers support moving items into a persons house?! Clearly one that hasn't hired the right skilled workers. Even as bad as that event was - my wife and I were fuming at everything else gone wrong in this moving experience. The whole day was a mess and likely took twice as long as any other moving company I have used. I was doing much more physical labor and assembly and disassembly than I have ever done with a company. By the end of the experience, I was just glad they were out of the house. My bed was still folded up with straps around it. My cabinet drawers were strewn across the floor. Things were moved, but not well at all. My wife and I tried to instruct the movers where to put things - but it's difficult when your movers don't speak English and there's not a translator on staff. As a result one couch wasn't even put in the right room or the right floor. We had to rearrange most of the items against a wall because they were just placed in the middle of the house. After escalating all of this to the manager of Slick Way Movers, I received a faint apology and a whopping discount of $110 or $120 from a $1200 bill! The total for the move was around $1200 as they didn't finish until 5:30 pm - far from the initial 2 hour quote of $4-500. We realized this service was hourly - but we also had the expectation that we did not need to spend those hours training their staff and that they would use their time efficiently. I have moved about 3 times with movers. This was by far the worst experience. The company lacked: Accountability, Professionalism, Strategy, and Customer Support.

    Silkway movers' 3 man team safely lifted my couch over the balcony railing to circumvent a narrow corner in the entry.

Their price was competitive with the competition and what we thought was very fair for a whole house move. We are super glad we went with Prince because the crew was unbelievable. Carlos ran the crew and was so professional and courteous. All floors/stairs were covered. Marvin, Omar and Jeff were all hard-working and got everything done quickly like clockwork. All furniture was covered and protected. If we asked for anything to be placed in a different place or requested changes there was only one answer: No problem - with a smile! I honestly didn't think customer service like that existed anymore. I consider myself a tough reviewer, I can't believe myself how glowing this review is but they were that good.

From my initial telephone contact with Karey and our video walk through with Jon I was very impressed. Likewise, I was very pleased with the initial cost estimate that was provided to us. We did our due diligence and obtained two other estimates, both higher than the one from Prince. In fact, one was twice as high. We were a bit concerned about the great disparity. However, having been impressed with Karey and Jon and reading about the fundamental principles of their business we elected to go with Prince. I cannot say enough about the crew that handled our move. They called ahead of time to advise they were on the way - and on time ! Carlo, the team leader, was polite, responsive to our requests, flexible to add on a few things we needed to move, and his supervision of the other three members of the crew : Omar, Jeff and Mario. The care that the entire crew gave to our furniture, including some large, heavy wood pieces with glass shelves and doors, was extraordinary. Patrick and his crew, Renaldo, Nitua, Gerand and Kevin, exceeded the already high expectations I had based upon the reviews. I will happily recommend Bookstore to family and friends and will never use another moving company. Their strength, kindness, commitment and pride in their job and the company, organization, efficiency as a crew (this was amazing to watch- they just flowed as a team of 5 and Patrick was an excellent leader!), was consitent and apparent throughout the entire time they spent with us. I really can't say enough good things about the experience and hope to work with them again when we hopefully buy a place and move in the next couple of years. I worked with a different moving company 2 years ago that left me scarred for life with how rude and unprofessional they were. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

The crew showed up on time, wrapped every piece of furniture carefully, and worked nonstop without ever seeming rushed or careless. Nothing was damaged, nothing was lost, and they even helped reposition a couple of heavy pieces in our new place without complaint. What stood out most was how friendly and communicative the team was throughout the process, answered questions, and made a genuinely stressful day feel manageable. Pricing was fair and matched the estimate with no surprise fees. If you're looking for a moving company that's professional, careful, and just easy to work with, I'd highly recommend DC Moving Inc.     DC Moving Inc completed my cross‑country move from Arlington, VA to Seattle, WA in just 4 days!!!…read more 4 days!I! I first requested a quote in late December before I even had a new apartment lined up. Their online tool made it easy to get an initial estimate without an in‑home visit, and Dasha (and sometimes Lilith) answered all my questions over the following weeks. A month later, when I was ready for an in‑person assessment, they honored my original quote even though my inventory had changed (many more smaller boxes, one less big piece of furniture). They visited on a Thursday and scheduled pickup for the next Tuesday. A team of three loaded everything in under two hours (right after Winter Storm Fern). I arrived in Seattle on Saturday, and the driver called 15 minutes after I had picked up my keys from the leasing office (I am not kidding). Despite my building having no loading dock, he found a workable spot, unloaded everything, and rebuilt my furniture solo in about 4.5 hours total. The original delivery window was up to two weeks, so four days was beyond anything I expected. I'm incredibly impressed and highly recommend DC Moving Inc for long‑distance moves.
