We picked up the dog after a 3 day stay. She was matted with leaves, tree spore and dog poop...smelling like urine. Her dog bed had poop in it and also smelled like urine. It was obvious from the left-over dog food that she was not being fed according to instructions. Our dog looked worse than the dogs in the TV advertisement. It took 2 hours to get her cleaned up. We recently boarded our senior dog for a week at Silver Acres. We have visited many doggy daycare and kennels across Canada and the US and this was by far the cleanest, professional and friendly place we have seen. It was great to meet owners Ron and Ginger and tour the facility with our dog a few days before we checked her in. The staff is so passionate and knowledgeable and took great care of the special needs for Dixie. One colder night, they even added a second blanket to her bed! When we picked her up, she was content and looked gorgeous after being bathed and brushed out. Our only regret is that we were only traveling in the area and regret that we do not have such a wonderful daycare or kennel near us at home! read more

Very clean facility and pleasant, friendly owners. Was happy to find a place close to my home in Fairhope, having just moved from central florida. I have 2 chihuahuas, one of which is a rescue that was not properly socialized as a puppy and another young one who is quite normal. On our visit, the rescued chihuahua became frightened as soon as she saw 2 strangers in a place she had never been before. We were then told by the owners that they could not accept my scared little chihuahua into their kennel. They gave as an example a dog that was on daily meds that they could not get out of the kennel. I immediately felt that they did not have the experience in dealing with all different kinds of situations that might occur in a kennel. My rescue girl, although shy and easily frightened, behaved well in the previous kennel in Florida where we had lived for the past 6 years. She also behaves well for her groomer and various vets that she has seen. I regret that this did not work out well for me so I would recommend this kennel only for perfectly normal dogs. read more

Very clean facility, absolute WORST customer service. I drove 8 hours to pick up a family members pet while they were away and felt pressured to make it there by 6 pm.( the office is connected to the house)When we arrived, we were immediately ridiculed over the behavior of the dog that was a frequent customer of Silver Acres. We have used Silver acres many times to board our Golden Doodle since the Castles bought the business. We are totally pleased with all the personnel we have met and our dog actually is eager for her adventure at the facility. We have boarded our dog for a few days and for over a week and she has been returned healthy and happy. The facility is very clean and care is taken to assure our dog is up to date on her shots. Recently we took an impromptu "RoadTrip" and wanted to board our puppies. Immediately, I thought of Ginger and her family owned business, Silver Acres! Having previous experience with them and being satisfied with their services before, it was a natural choice. Not too often do we get the change to laud praises on people; but I want to tell everyone how great this service is. It had been over a year since boarding before. When I drove up Ginger (the Owner) immediately recognized me and greeted me and my pets by name! They ran to her like she was their second Momma and I was then assured everything was going to be fine. But here it is a week later and my animules still smell as great as they did the day I picked them up. Their coats are as shiny and glossy as they were that very day... it was a VERY clean and professional setting snd it looks like the dogs have room to run around in the area designated. I however, do NOT feel that they had the best interest of my dog. The owner spoke very ugly towards my dog and about my dog to me and my friend. Ronnie, the owner, greeted us as soon as we walked in the door by saying "that dog is out of control". She then said she "needs a nap" after dealing with the dog. (Which is an 8 month old PUPPY, by the way) puppies are going to be a little wild anyways. She went on and on about how my puppy was so animated that she thought she was going to hurt someone.(maybe bc she's been kept in a kennel while we were gone!), For someone who has a business based on customer service, you would think that she'd be a little more positive when speaking of dogs(in front of their owners). Especially ones that are paying HER to board them. I left there feeling sad for my dog, that someone could speak that ugly of her. She is by NO means a wild dog, but the owner made me feel like she was looked at like a wild demon dog. If this is how she talked to me about my dog, I sure hope she wasn't this ugly to my sweet pup while I was away!! I will not be using her kennel services anymore and will no longer refer her to people. read more

Although I hate leaving my dogs to go out of town, sometimes they just can't go with me. I have left them in the care of Silver Acres on several occasions, and have felt they were in very capable hands. The Bocks are very responsible people, their facilities are very clean and nice. I especially like that you can have them take your dogs for a woodland walk for a small additional fee. My dogs seem to enjoy going there, and have been healthy and happy when I picked them up. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the dogs do not have an exit to go outside to relieve themselves at night, but they seem to tolerate this situation just fine. The "audition" night is a good idea, as it lets you know that your dogs can adjust, and that not just any misbehaving dog can be left there! read more
