I recently visited Central Baldwin Animal Hospital to walk seven rescues who are being cared for there while waiting for adoption. I was so impressed with how friendly and welcoming the staff were. they clearly care about the animals and the people who come through their doors. The facility itself was clean and well-kept, which gave me peace of mind knowing the rescues are being looked after in such a safe and healthy environment. Have used them for boarding and vet services. Was happy with both. I have a "home" vet clinic and use them when I'm in town. They have been very good reaching out to the other clinic to get records and so forth to ensure my dogs are current with their vaccines. Most recently used them to neuter my one year-old doodle. Dr Brian Anderson brought my rescued dog back to his old self. He is almost blind, had heart and intestinal worms and a crushed hip when we rescued him. He even called afterward to check on him. I have been taking my 4 dogs to this vet for 5 years. I was out of work for a year and a half. I got a job but had just started when my dog had a heat stroke. They refused to see him because I couldn't come up with the money. When that happened he broke many of his teeth. I was feeding and making sure he was drinking. His teeth got infected and he quit eating. I got up enough money for antibiotics hoping they would keep him alive until I could get my first paycheck but after 5 years of seeing him they refused to sell me any because I couldn't pay for them to look at him. I explained to them that I would have the money the next week and that he would die if I couldn't do something for him but it fell on deaf ears. He died because I didn't have enough money for them. I paid all my depts off early and had a credit with them until I became unemployed. So I believe they were more interested in money than saving my dogs life. read more

This was over a year ago but I have not taken my dog anywhere else since. My dog had gotten into rat poison and was very sick. At first he was just vomiting but it was getting worse. It was late one night when I started seeing blood so I took him to a 24 hour animal hospital in Mobile. That place immediately asked me if I had money, that the bill could get up to $1200 and they needed to know if I was going to be able to pay right after treatment. I couldn't so they told me the only thing they could do was give him fluids. I took the fluids and they charged me $170 just for that. I took him home and he made it through the night. The next morning I brought him to this place. They took him back immediately and told me what they could do to start helping him without getting my bill too high. The vet wanted to keep him through the weekend and see how he does with the treatment. She called me each morning to keep me updated and after 2 days he was able to come home. The staff here really cares and are very understanding. For staying the weekend and the treatment he got, I would say my bill was very reasonable. They are not just trying to make money, they genuinely are trying to help. To this day my dog gets excited when we pull up to this vet, it's as if he knows she saved his life. read more

They sent my puppy home with parvo after one day then I go back every day and tell them that my dog has not ate or drink any thing in 2 days they say its ok well my dog died Sat and they said i killed him how? Our 14 yr old German short-haired pointer was attacked by hogs yesterday and the doctors did a masterful job of putting her back together in a 5 hour surgery. They were caring and gave us an honest assessment of her chances at survival. She's standing & drinking water. We are hopeful! read more

I took my dog for his shots and annual checkup. Also he has breathing problems plus i needed a prescription for Trifexis so i could buy the Trifexis online where i could save $50 for a 6 month supply. The vet didnt know what was causing the breathing problems, and i had to pay an extra $20 for them to write a prescription for the Trifexis. What a scam. I will never take my dog to this vet again! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Central Baldwin Veterinary Hospital! Dr. Teague and the entire staff are passionate about what they do. When my dog had to have emergency surgery, they stayed there late at night on the weekend to ensure he was going to be okay. They also were there to answer every single question I had. I took him back for 'doggy daycare' the next week and he couldn't wait to go in every morning! I will never use another vet again. They have gone above and beyond what I've ever experienced at a vet clinic, and I cannot thank them enough. I would recommend them to ANYONE. Dr. Campbell is like a member of our family. He's kind, compassionate and very knowledgeable. He has helped us through some tough situations with our 4 cats. He has been their vet for 15 years! We first used Central Baldwin Vet Hospital when we could not find boarding for our Siberian Husky, Addy, for a holiday we decided to travel last minute. They have been so wonderful for our very over-active Addy and are very cautious to make sure any pets there are up to date on vaccinations which assures me they put safety first for our pet. Where to begin. If I could give no stars I would. Dr.Truett and Dr. Campbell killed our precious pug - Puggie Tu. We brought Puggie in to the office at the end of November for a UTI and she saw Dr.Campbell. He recommended that Puggie Tu be spayed because her breed was susceptible to uterus problems (she was 11 years old) and have the dog flu vaccination. We agreed to the flu vaccination and scheduled her to be spayed in 2 weeks. After leaving the office 10 mins later I noticed Puggies face swelling and her breathing was labored. We rushed her back to Central Baldwin Veterinary Hospital where Dr.Campbell gave Puggie a benadryl shot because she was having an allergic reaction to the flu vaccination and wanted to keep her for observations for a few hours. They called us a couple hours later and said she was doing better and we could come pick her up. 2 weeks later we took her in on a Friday morning for her spay, perfectly healthy. The lady at the front desk told me I could come pick her up Saturday morning. I received a call later Friday afternoon that Puggie came out of the surgery great and was doing well. Went to pick her up Saturday morning to find out that Dr.Truett had given her the flu booster vaccination without notifying us and wanted to keep her for a few hours to monitor her and asked if I could come back at 11am. I was wondering at that time why the Dr. would give our 11 year old pug that was recovering from surgery a vaccination shot that she was allergic to but thought, "she is the Dr." and was given no indication of exactly how bad our Puggie Tu's condition was at that time.Went back up there at 11am and was met in the treatment room by Dr. Truett, stating that Puggie Tu had another bad reaction to the flu booster vaccination, I was able to see her for a few mins, she was hooked up to the monitors and oxygen. Dr.Truett said they closed at noon and she was going to take Puggie home with her to monitor her as they do not stay at the office to monitor the animals. She said that she had given Puggie a benadryl shot before giving her the booster, but Puggie started turning purple and having trouble breathing. She gave her a mild sedative to calm her down as well. She assured me Puggie was going to be okay. I received a call from Dr.Truett around 3pm that Puggie had passed away. We filed a complaint against Dr.Campbell and Dr. Truett with the board of veterinary medicine with the state of Alabama for the death of our Puggie Tu and they were found both Dr.'s at fault for Puggie Tu's death. Our hearts will forever remember our Puggie Tu so with all this said---PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE ENTRUSTING EITHER OF THESE DOCTORS WITH YOUR FURRY FAMILY LOVED ONE - THEY HAVE NOT TRIED TO CONTACT US WITH ANY ADMITTANCE OF GUILT, SORROW, OR CARING OF ANY REAL CONCERN WITH WHAT THEY TOOK FROM US!! read more
