Came for an outpatient procedure early in the morning. Friendly staff, from front desk, to nurses, anesthesiologists and doctors. Got setup rather quickly and timely, procedure was efficient and speedy. The patient prep areas were a little open (no individual rooms and doors) and noisy. No additional waiting area for family members, except for front lobby I assume. read more

During my pregnancy we had to relocate for my husband's job. Once I knew what city we were moving to, I found the nearest hospital that managed VBACs, which was Silver Cross. I am a labor nurse myself so I asked in a fb forum with 89k labor nurses what provider would be the best fit at Silver if I desired a more hands off provider who supported VBACs. The most recommended recommended were Yasmeen and Lisa. At 20w I called their office to inquire about transferring and made it clear I was planning on a VBAC. At 29w I had my initial appointment with Yasmeen, again I made it clear that it was my goal to have a VBAC and would only have a rcs if it was medically indicated. My primary cs was 21m prior to this due date for transverse lie. I had a low transverse incision. My next appointment was with Lisa. There were things that bothered me about her bedside manner like the way she kept talking over me, the way she touched me so roughly while doing Leopolds, or when she was leaving the room at the end of the appointment saying "at 36w I'll start checking you every week and I'll strip your membranes". I did not like that she was telling me what she was going to do to me, not asking, and providing no information on the risks/benefits. Being so far into my third trimester I felt stuck. I thought that she likely wasn't the best fit for me but I felt I had no other options. I sent a copy of my birth preferences before my next appointment to clear up any uncertainty. Lisa walked into the appointment holding a copy of my birth plan and said "so I hear you're a labor nurse" and sat down across from me. From the moment she walked into the room, her tone and body language were hostile. At the top of my birth plan I wrote about my goals for my birth. Essentially saying my goal was an unmedicated physiological birth but I was open to intervention as needed. When discussing things such as breaking my water, I told her I would not like routine early AROM. She said, "if you came to the hospital in labor 2cm I would break your water and start pitocin". I replied that in that situation I would prefer to wait but I would be open to intervention if labor stalled out. She looked at me incredulously and asked why. I replied the risk for infection or cord prolapse. She leaned forward in her seat, scoffed, and asked "what would make you think that?". She told me if I refused intervention the provider on call wouldn't want to come in to be her back up for my labor. I once again affirmed that if my labor stalled or if there were concerns, I would of course be open to intervention. She said if my labor was taking too long the provider on call would come in and section me. She said there was also a possibility of said provider signing out to the OB hospitalist. To be clear, even if the provider backing her signed out to the hospitalist, there would be a provider on the unit capable of doing a cs. I stated that I would only consent to a rcs if it was medically indicated. She said they would do a cs anyway and I replied "not without my consent". She stated "I don't know about the legality of that". She said this many times during this conversation and our following conversation. I don't feel there is any way to interpret what she said other than, she did not believe they needed my consent for them to operate on me. Either she is completely ignorant around the legality and ethics of the career she chose or she was trying to scare me into complying. I remained firm with her that if it was medically indicated I would absolutely consent but I would not have a surgery purely for provider convenience. She stated she would talk to the provider who backs her up. Throughout our conversation she said things to me such as "I have a bad feeling about you", "nurse curse" and brought up the fact that I had red hair. I said I don't want my care to be driven by superstition but by evidence. Around 35w I got a call from Lisa in which she recommended I transfer my care to a stand alone birth center or drive over 2 hours back to the hospital I had previously work at. She said "no provider would be willing to manage your labor if you're going to refuse everything". I replied that I was absolutely open to intervention as needed and a cs if it was medically indicated. She said to me "I have a lot of people come to me for VBACs and I have great success with them but do you want to know why? My patients listen to me. This won't work if you won't listen to me". I felt like we were talking in circles and she was refusing to understand my perspective. Ultimately, I am grateful she made the decision for me. I transferred my PNC back to my previous unit and went on to have a spontaneous vaginal delivery at 39w with no intervention. I labored at home for about 8 hours before making the 2hr 15 min drive to the hospital. I delivered 1hr and 22mins after arriving to the hospital surrounded by people who supported me and I felt completely safe with. read more

They advertise no appointment colonoscopies, ask you to submit a form and then nothing happens, you can't schedule the procedure and after 2 days no one has contacted me. Don't waste your time like I did, schedule somewhere else. read more

I really had high hopes for this new facility. I am very disappointed with my current medical care at another company so I was looking forward to changing to Silver Cross. But going the grand opening and the tour I was not impressed. So I have chosen to stick to the place I already don't like. And that is really bad. read more

Stay away! Get any costs for visits or procedures IN WRITING, BEFORE you visit. No negotiations.

Nice place but they do not know how to communicate it's hard to get through to them to make appointments change pharmacies or anytime you just need an answer always on hold for over an hour with no other way to communicate with them silver cross in general communication is poor. I should have known something was off when I only had to wait a month to see a new doctor at this facility, Dr Robert Oliver. I'm in the exam room waiting for him, he walks in, looks at me, doesn't even say hello or introduce himself. He just starts looking at the papers he's holding. Then he finally speaks. Doesn't do much of a thorough exam, didn't ask for any updates on my health history that weren't captured in the medical records transferred (which were a year old). He had me do some lab work. I got an email saying the results were in the patient portal for my review. If you go to Premier, be sure to take that statement literally "for my review", because the doctor doesn't bother to to call you or email you with their interpretation of the results. So the patient is the one that has to do the review. After a few days of not hearing anything, I called. Dr Oliver is not available to talk with patients. I asked is there a nurse at least? I was told they have no nurses. ??? You end up talking to a medical assistant who basically has gone to trade school for less than a year. She started reading all the results to me. I told her I am quite capable of reading and I have read the results. I am looking for some type of guidance because some of my lab work results were out of the normal range. "Oh, let me see if I can find his recommendations". So now I have some 20 year old girl with essentially no medical background thinking I'm going to just take direction without being able to ask any questions? I told her just send me the recommendations and I will read them myself and decide what action I want to take. She then says to me "I don't know how to send them to you electronically. I will have to print them and send them to you through the post office mail to your house." Is this pitiful or what? At DuPage Medical System and other healthcare systems in the area, they have online portals whereas when test results are generated, the doctors are responsible for taking initiative to write the patient with their recommended actions. And I as a patient, could write them back with my questions. So with other systems you get direct access to your doctors to communicate with them as needed. At Premier, your only choice is to talk to a medical assistant with a medical background consisting of going to a trade school for less than a year?? My health care is too important to me to put it in the hands of a 20 year old kid. Now I know why it only took a month to get into see Dr Oliver as a patient. It's because he only communicates with his patients during the office visit. With the Premier system he doesn't have to email and communicate with his patients. DuPage Health System has a much better process which allows communication between patients and doctors outside of office visits. And Loyola has a facility open in Tinley Park, right down the street from Premier. They also have a system that allows for doctors and patients to communicate outside of office visits. It's been well over a week and I haven't received Dr Oliver's recommendations via postal mail. So I guess the girl didn't get that done. Adios Premier! I'm taking my healthcare business for my family and me to another system which values direct doctor and patient communications. read more
