As we had 4 in our party, we came with appetites. Our friends ordered the Baseball sirloin with bake potato & salad; Prime Rib (small) with bake potato and salad; my husband also had the Prime Rib (small) with bake potato and salad; I decided on the Ribeye with bake potato and it did not disappoint! Our side salads were topped with black olives, baby corn, radish and edamame with hot fresh rolls as an accompaniment. The main attraction came out and can I say, everyone's steaks came were cooked perfectly, medium rare and juicy. Baked potatoes came loaded if you wanted, we all chose butter and sour cream and the plates had steamed mixed veggies. Coming from folks who normally eat steaks cooked at home, these did not disappoint and the price was very fair. We truly wanted dessert but frankly, our bellies were too full. Check out their menu tho; lemon cake, chocolate cake, crème brûlée, dazzle berry cobbler, mud pie...oh my! When we return to visit our friends, we will be sure to stop in for dinner again. Horrible service - waitress had zero personality and didn't want to be there, $45 ribeye was lukewarm at best, veggies tasted like reheated leftovers, took 30 minutes after we sat down at 4:30 to get the rolls, vodka gimlet was served in a high ball glass full of ice. Also, what's the hype about the bacon knots? Just a strip of bacon baked with some brown sugar. Nothing special at all. On the positive side - the steak was cooked to requested medium. pork tenderloin cooked correctly and mushroom sauce was good. Best part of the meal was the dinner rolls, they were great (just not timely). VERY disappointed with the $125 meal for 2 people. We're not opposed to paying $$$ for a great meal. Several people in town said this is the best place to eat a nice dinner. It was anything but. Won't be going back. The appetizers came quickly, and the meal was served shortly after we finished our appetizers. I thought I had already left a review here, was it disputed? Well here it is again, Went here for my birthday. Food: Food was cold, my husband did say something about it and they "warmed it" up so they took it back. I'm skeptical about sending food back so I left mine as is. That piece of meat had so much fat in it and looked gross. He ate around it but left a big chunk of fat aside. I don't think that's what prime rib is supposed to look like. I had a cheap wine, which I then noticed I could have bought a whole bottle for the price we paid. This is such an interesting place, big restaurant with a neat little bar area. Staff was friendly but service was really slow and it seemed like staff had too much to deal with. I love fried green tomatoes, it's why I specifically stopped here and man what a disappointment. Paper thin cut tomatoes so you couldn't taste them over the breading. Don't order them. The chicken fried chicken was pretty good and saved this meal, the gravy was nicely done as well although they should add some spice to it. Mashed and veg were also executed well. Overall i probably wouldn't make this a main spot if I was in the area but it was "fine". read more

The salad is basic and I liked the addition of edamame but the lettuce didn't seem all the fresh. Wait for it, he never apologized, never came back and I had to use my napkin to cover and clean it up so we could have the mud pie! Would I go back? Absolutely not! Is lunch worse then dinner? Let me preface that I've had dinner in some pretty posh places in LA, Chicago, DC, Honolulu, Denver, (and overseas). I've never been treated as I was tonight by the host station at Silver Fox in Casper, WY, of all places. 6:45pm, we had been on the road all day coming to Casper for a specialty physician appointment, and said doctor recommended Silver Fox. (I trust my doc that it's a good place to go, he's not steered me wrong in two years of seeing him.) I see the parking lot is pretty full, that's sometimes a good thing for a recommendation. We walk in and the host (blonde kid with a skater haircut) doesn't even look up to greet us. There isn't anyone waiting to be seated. Tells us to check the bar next door (my daughter is 18) and continues messing on a screen in front of him. My daughter asks if we can make a reservation for later, we get told very snidely 7:30. He never asked our name, my daughter gives our first name anyway, which the kid never wrote down with the pencil in his hand, but said he had it. As we were walking out, a gentleman held the door for us asking "You're leaving already?" White button down, blue slacks, dress shoes, MOD? I tell him yes and thank him for holding the door. We indeed left, and didn't come back. I've never felt so looked down upon walking into a restaurant, basically being told I don't belong without saying it out loud. I would not have expected this in Casper-- DC, NYC, Paris, sure, but not Casper. I dropped $100+ on dinner at a different place in town, who actually greeted me and didn't make me feel like trash. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just because someone doesn't walk in wearing dress clothes (I saw jeans and flannel on people seated) doesn't mean it's ok to ignore them and "class" them out of a restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Suggesting that I can "check the bar" with my 18 year old is bad form. If this kid thought I couldn't afford to eat at his work, he was sorely mistaken. Been here on both business and with family many times, always happy until tonight. Made reservation for 5 at 515 confirmed twice on phone the time to arrive with family. We arrived before 515, couple in front of us had 530 and was seated right away. Lady asked my name and gave it, then insinuated we had it for 5. No 515. Then takes a phone call tells another lady asking if she could help me, take table 36 and he'll need a chair. Never seen anyone sit outside of a table at a chair un the 12 years of going here, but because they were busy it's okay. No it's not and if the owner is okay treating customers this way would he or she be okay being treated the same way at a restaurant of the same statute. I beg to differ. Finally made it here on the advice of a friend. They said it was better than Firerock steakhouse and I'd have to agree. The service was top knotch, as soon as a plate was clean, someone was there to pick it up. I don't know where they came from but they were on it!! The food was fantastic. We got a sampler with bacon knots, beef maki and mushrooms. The bacon knots were ridiculously good as was the maki. The wife says the mushrooms were amazing, I'll take her word for it, lol. The steak, brisket and chicken alfredo were very good, not bacon knot good, but delicious none the less. No complaints on the main course at all. We tried the blulee cheesecake for dessert and it was one of the better pieces of cheesecake I'd had in a while. Overall thoughts. Excellent food, with service that sets it apart from restaurants. Most people write a review if they are unhappy, or have a problem. I am happy to say I am writing this review because I was extremly satisfied with their catering service. My daughter was married at the end of June and we had Silver Fox do the catering. They have always had a very good reputation but sometimes catering business aren't as good as the resteraunt. This was certainly not the case. The Silver Fox came a few days eariler than the event to see what the setup was. They arrived on time to the event. They were dressed in a professional manner. All the catering individuals were very nice, had smiles on their faces and were just nice people. The food was extremely good, and everyone commented on how good the food was. Bar/ lounge seems like a hot spot. Restaurant itself was quiet. A lot of this is due to the sides and the layoff. Looking for a quiet place this is it. Escargot is good not great. Love the pastry on top. Needs salt though. Soup was way off description but was delish. I ordered the lamb and don't recommend. Temperature was great, however it was under seasoned and the quality seemed lacking. Even the sides were ok just lacked seasoning. Service was fantastic though. Well ran place just needs some work in the kitchen, don't be afraid to season! Paying this price I shouldn't have to use the salt and pepper shaker this much, if it all. read more
