Got a referral from the ER and when I called I was told they didn't take 6 year Olds with no reason to give at all. I explained that my daughter was very good with the doctor and followed instructions well and the receptionist immediately got awkwardly defensive. My poor daughter has had this issue after 5 months already and we get referred to a dud. Happy she wasn't 7 and we avoided this place. I can see why it has 2 stars read more

I wish I could give this place negative stars. We went here for my husband because our other eye place was closed for COVID19. My husband had hit his eye with the corner of a cat food bag and the other place we went to gave him some medicated eye drops *in case* it got infected and said to go somewhere (because they were closing temporarily) if it got worse or he started seeing those little floating black spots. He did, so we went here and when the Dr FINALLY saw him after waiting for like 15 mins in an empty lobby, he came back less than a minute later and we left. The Dr literally looked at his eye, didn't even have him look in different directions or thoroughly look at his eye, and then just told him to go see the place that was closed! Then, they sent me a bill WITH LATE CHARGE (the first bill I've received from them) and it's for $200?! For 1 minute of time to not even help us? And said we have 10 days to pay before they send it to a collection agency, for the first bill I received? Insane. Thankfully my insurance covered half of it but honestly, we just wasted gas driving there and wasted our time. The receptionist was nice though, so 1 star for her, I guess. Aside from the standard treatment and care you might expect, Dr. Hall reached out to me over the weekend to personally make sure I was okay and that my healing was on was continuing to stay on track. This place is amazing!!! If I could give them 10 stars, I would. I called the front office last night in a panic because of a HORRIBLE experience I had at America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses. They squeezed me in just before they were closing that same day and even emailed me the paperwork ahead of time to expedite the process. I got there, they were all SUPER friendly and took really good care of me. After my exam with the doctor, who is super nice, it turns out that I don't even need glasses at all, that I have 20/20 vision! Which was infuriating since I had just spent $200 at America's Best on glasses that I don't even need! Luckily, Monique there was a total babe and offered to put an anti-glare coating on one of the frames that came into the other clinic W/O any prescription in them (even though I paid for both of them to have prescription lenses in them) so that it would help my headaches. Best part is, my insurance covered it!! They were literally the highlight of my whole week. I cannot wait to get my new glasses. Thank you Silver Lake! :) read more

The only reason I can think that this place has such low star reviews is because some people are hypercritical. I'm glad I read the 5-star reviews because the low stars were about to scare me off. I was referred here by my doctor to see an ophthalmologist about a chalazion I developed on my eyelid. The staff were kind and I never waited after my appointment time to be seen. The Dr even took a more holistic approach to my chalazion than just surgically removing it the first time I saw him. I'm glad he didn't because that does come with the side effect of the duct being scarred and not working in the future. Anyways I found him knowledgeable and experienced and hope you give this clinic a chance. I don't normally write reviews I just am because this place does not deserve 2 stars. read more

exam was fine, talked me into getting bi focals, which for me i have tried twice in the past. silver lake eye clinic stated they had the best of the best. after getting my glasses, they were not correct, had to have them fixed, still did not work for me. at that point they made it a point to tell me that it cost "them" money to fix them. Shame on me for not checking Yelp before going here. I stupidly only googled the doctor's name and saw that, amidst three reviews on healthgrades.com, he had a high star-rating. Oops for not noticing his clinic had horrible reviews. Either way, I went in completely blind to this appointment--in the sense that I had few preconceived ideas about my visit, not that I couldn't see. (Sorry, poor choice of metaphors.) I had an extremely fast preliminary history done by one of the techs, which ironically did not include a visual field test. I worked at LensCrafters long ago, and it was part of every exam we did, so I was surprised to hear that they thought it was extra, not standard. Next, the tech gave me drops for dilation, which is typically *not* part of a standard exam, but hey, if they wanted to do it, more power to them. After the drops went in, the doctor came in and did a very quick, i.e., not very thorough, exam. He also shined light in my eyes, presumably as a response to my dilation, but it seemed pointless as my eyes were not yet dilated. Further, he took no photos of what he saw, while every dilation I've had in the past does--so they can compare things over time. The final nail in the coffin of this nearly dead and futile visit was that I asked for my current prescription when he said his parting words. Dr. Roger Hall started on some song and dance about my prescription "probably" being what it currently was (based on the tech measuring the glasses I brought in). I furrowed my eyebrows asking what the point of the exam was if I didn't get my current prescriptions (particularly since I've worn distance and reading glasses in the past, so technically should have two). He went on to say something about my needs being "about right for my age" but to "expect it to get worse in a few years as I get older." How was that an answer to my question? What was he talking about? What did he just measure? What was the point of my speedy exam? Lack of visual field test? Dilation that set in only as I arrived back home? The visit in general? Bottom line: Go somewhere else for sure. This guy is not a sleaze trying to push products on you; he's the opposite--flying by on the bare minimum by doing nothing for you. read more

Walked in to kill time before my dentist appointment upstairs, Dc Yamaguchi, my dentist is amazing BTW. I tried some glasses on, Monique was amazing and very patient. I did not end up buying anything as my prescription had not change and did not really need new glasses, but rather wanted some. I called them back a few months later asking for the model number for the glasses I was obsessed over, making it clear I was trying to find them online for cheaper. Ashley called me back promptly and left me a VM. I was surprised they would take the time to do that, I called back to thank her, did not get the chance to talk to her but spoke to Monique. I asked if they would fill my prescription even if the frames were bought online to save money, she said of course. My experience so far has been amazing. Will see what happens after I receive my frames and go in. Will update later. read more

I thought this place was going to be a wonderful experience. But I was wrong. The ladies are very nice at the front desk and the assistant who got my kids ready was very nice. But Dr Hall is horrible. The second he walked into the room I knew I wasn't going to like him. He rushed right through both of my kids eye exams. He sighed heavily multiple times when they took too long to say the letters. My son has been having blurry vision and seeing lines and we expressed that to Dr Hall and he brushed it right off. I then asked about blue light glasses and he immediately says NO! I ask why and he says because I don't like them. I ask why again and he says very rudely because I just don't and walks out the door. I definitely do not recommend this place if you have children. I will be taking my son someplace else to get his eyes looked at. read more

Always had amazing care and when we needed cataract surgery he referred us to one of the best in Seattle. He has treated us with our health in mind. While I was asking him about her eye pain and blurry vision he was walking out the door and told me I don't know it's not my problem and to go to her primary care doctor. Went to another eye doctor to get a second opnion, and she got prescribed with glasses. Goes to show how horrible this doctor was and his diagnosis. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

I had to bring them back and they still didn't work right but...shame on me for not checking reviews first. In an attempt at finding a local optometrist, I tried Silver Lake Eye Clinic for the first time on 9 July, 2010. The office was clean and inviting. The receptionist was pleasant and efficient, but barely so. It was 4pm on a Friday and it seemed the entire staff was thinking only of their weekend. I, and 2 other patients were getting the bum rush. The eye exam was ok, they have the latest equipment. The exam by Dr. Hall, a small sort of Wilford Brimley-looking man, was slap-dash. I couldn't see a thing during the "better 1 or 2" exercise. I kept telling him that, but he just moved along. My eyes aren't THAT bad so I'm not overly concerned about it, but the service was just terrible. The lady, Silvia who helped me with my eyeglass frame selection was nice, but again, seemed to be rushing me. They didn't have a great selection of frames, but she basically shoved a pair in my hands and said these will look great. And kept coming back to them. I know, I know. I should have just walked out. But I think the rushing just kept me off balance enough to not be able to say anything. We'll see how the prescription comes out when I pick up my glasses 10 business days from now. My hunch is the progressive lenses will be crap. Much later follow up: the prescriptions initially came out wrong (they reversed the right and left lenses). Otherwise, they were satisfactory. I also purchased some prescription sunglasses that came out fine. read more

I went in for a standard eye exam, hoping for a new prescription. I went in and the doc recommended a dilated eye exam-not knowing what that meant I trusted and agreed. I told them I was going back to work after the appointment and no warning was given. I then got the "eye exam" which took about 2 minutes. I couldn't actually see the font and told him several times that I couldn't see the letters. His response-"have a good day, I have other patients to see"? How does he come up with my prescription when I never even saw anything on the board to begin with? Feeling extremely unsatisfied I took the prescription, left and started to drive home. I was not offered sunglasses or told that driving with dilated eyes is dangerous. 10 minutes later I couldn't see and realized I shouldn't be driving-a frightening experience. I called my fiancee (who happens to be a doctor) and told her about my vision and that I had gotten a dilated eye exam. She told me that is not part of a typical eye exam and that I absolutely should have been warned about the vision changes after dilation as they often recommend someone else drives you home as the dilation can last several hours. I called the clinic to complain-and the front desk attendant said she was put in her notice to quit the clinic. She also said, I had every right to be upset, and was not treated with respect whatsoever. Needless to say, I do not trust the prescription I got and I feel blessed that I made it home safely. This "doctor" is a malpractice suit waiting to happen. Please DO NOT go to this eye clinic. The guy saw me for 2 MINUTES! And when I told him I couldn't see, he didn't care. Great experience while up to visit my brother. I had been looking for some Maui Jim sunglasses recently and had some time to kill so I looked to see who sold them nearby so I could take a look at them first hand. The staff at the front desk were quite helpful even though I told them that I was just wanting to see what they offered. They asked if I needed ones that would take prescription and I told them I didn't think so. It had been some time since my last eye exam so I asked about an appointment. They were booked up but asked if I would be able to come in if there was a cancellation. As I was to be there two more days I left my cell number. As it turned out I was able to get in to see the doctor and was told that my eyesight had not changed and that I didn't need new glasses and that I also didn't need to have sunglasses with the prescription. After finding everyone was so accommodating and not pushy I decided to go ahead and get the Maui Jim's from them. I believe the lady that helped me was Sylvia and the ones I wanted were in stock but a different color. They went ahead and ordered the ones I wanted and then shipped them down to me. I will definitely stop back in to say HI to everyone the next time I am up to visit my brother. read more

Very Disappointed in this Clinic, the workers & the Dr who has no control over the girls working @ the front of the office. I would Not recommend this place to anyone; save yourself time & stress & Don't Go here. I had to return 3 times trying get the prescription & lenses correct & they are still not right. On my 3rd return I did get the thinner lenses with the reflective coating which was nice , but the Girl that fit my glasses was not good; the ear pieces were so wide & uncomfortably that after the 3rd attempt @ a good fitting I gave up. I wanted to see the Eye Dr again to get the prescription corrected but was not allowed to see him which makes no since. Needless to say I will Never Go here again read more

After several emails, I finally got a one-line reply with no signature line, and it took me a minute to figure out where the email had even come from. Very unprofessional. I agree with most of the reviews posted here regarding Silver Lake Eye Clinic. My interactions with the front desk ladies and the gal that ran me through the high-tech eye equipment before seeing Dr. Hall, were just fine. When Dr. Hall walked in, he didn't introduce himself or shake my hand. Just not a good first impression! During the very quick exam, I felt that being there was irritating to him, despite me trying to carry on some small talk. It was a cold and uninviting experience. The interesting thing is, I used to work in this industry and had a slight nearsighted eye prescription 20 years ago. I know my eyes have gotten a little worse over the years (hence why I went in for an eye exam), but was told by Dr. Hall, that my eyes are perfect (20/20 vision) and have no need for an eye prescription. I find it hard to believe, but if Dr. Hall was more thorough, slowed down with his eye exam and was more personable, his results would carry more weight with me! read more

First time I write an review, my dad and I ( also two of my siblings) came for a 4:30 pm appt. We're showed up at 4:12pm, we're patience wait for them to give them our information paper. (Its was our first time there), after dealing with our insurance, we have to wait until 4:55 pm for them to finally call us in. (We actually feel bad because the kids were a bit noisy and playful.) The front desk ladies are kind, first, one of the lady check my dad eyes and get all of the information. Then we'll wait for about 2-5 mins, the doctor came in. He's pretty nice, but then he ask " why are you here today?"... umm... of course for an eyes exam....shouldn't he look or check my dad information before meeting us...?.... Then he take a fast eyes check, with yes or no, better or worse questions. Everything went really fast, he didn't fully answer our questions at all. THEN, He walked us outside, and told us that "this lady will help you with the eyes-wear". I DID'NT EVEN FINISH ASKING ALL OF MY DAD QUESTION BEFORE HE LET US WALK OUT OF THAT ROOM! he didn't even ask if we have other question or concern!! I don't know if he was in a hurry because he's behind with another patient appt or what, but "customer always comes first" The front desk ladies are nice buuuut didn't really understand and know about my dad insurance even I give them my dad insurance 2 weeks before the appointment. So then of course we all have struggle talking about the payment and how to deal with it. The ladies have trouble understanding me and then later apologizes to me, because "now" they finally understand the insurance! The billing person is not here until Friday, that mean I have to wait 2 days for her to deal with the insurance! I even told them that we're not happy with the situation and with the doctor AN EYES EXAM COST $320~ should have known that before even going here!!! My dad have 80$ left in his insurance after that eyes exam! what can he even do with the 80$? To be honest, ITS WAS NOT EVEN WORTH 320$ FOR AN EYES EXAM, I have to be honest with you guys that. The location is neat and nice, front desk ladies are nice too, but with the fast pace, expensive, not helpful, and all of the things above, my dad and I didn't have a good impression there, and probably will never return there again. read more

I went to Silver Lake Eye Clinic around the first part of February for a simple eye exam; no glasses. I found the front desk staff to be polite, but in a aloof kind of way. Smart and efficient, just not very welcoming. The eye exam itself didn't get any better. Dr. Roger Hall performed the exam. It went so quickly that I was concerned the prescription he wrote might be wrong. I couldn't see how anyone could perform an accurate eye exam in the same amount of time it takes to boil ramen. I waited a few weeks to purchase the glasses and since my insurance (Medicaid) allowed for a second opinion I went to a different eye clinic to see if my suspicions were correct. It turns out they were. After a far more thorough examination the eye doctor concluded that the prescription Dr. Hall gave me was completely wrong. Had I not sought a second opinion and just purchased eye ware based on their prescription I'd be out a considerable amount of money and I wouldn't have known my eyes needed better lens until a year or more later when my next eye exam came around. From my experience I can't recommend Silver Lake Eye Clinic. read more

I have never wrote a review before I feel that it is needed. I took my three year old daughter there for her first eye exam. Now never having one before you would expect there to be some fear involved. She was scared and very hesitant to do what they asked of her. She did the first part of the eye exam by naming pictures with one eye covered at a time. The assistant then wanted to measure her eyes but that scared her and we could do so. The assistant was nice enough but seemed irritated that my daughter was scared and crying. Dr. Hall I believe his name was came storming into the room and he to seem very angry and irritated that my daughter was very scared. He then asked why I was there and again seemed irritated that I would bring my three year old in for a routine eye exam. He looked at my daughter for a few minutes because she was crying and said well you can reschedule for a different day and walked out of the room. I am in disbelief on how my daughter was treated. I am not going to say that she was easy to work with because she wasn't but it was her first time ever getting her eyes check and it was a scary place and the people did not make her feel any better. I strongly advice to go else where. Do not take your children there because they are just rude and do not know how to treat them. read more

Terrible customer service. I have been a client of theirs for many years off and on. The front desk people as well as the lady who does the contacts are rude the only person who has any nicest to them is the doctor. I do not have insurance but I have job and I have a care credit credit card that I can make purchases with, and the front desk lady treated me so bad like I didn't have enough money to go to their eye clinic. I just can't believe how she treated me, so unprofessional.. They said seriously consider firing the lady at the front desk. Not to mention I took my son there a few months back he is 17 and the contact lady treated him like he was the one acting as if I was not there and I was not his mother. She kept asking him if he wanted to come back another day.c'mon lady I just paid you 160.00 to get him contacts. Needless to say the experience was terrible and he never even ended up wearing the contacts , because he still does not know how to put them in.
