First off, the optical staff, technicians, optometrist, are really good. They are nice to the patients, professional and as far as I can tell competent. They even caught a stigmatism that was missed by my previous eye doctor which made a big difference on how I saw things. Now where star were lost were: 1. I feel as if this clinic kinda nickel and dimes you. Of all the vision clinic's I've been to over the years, this is the only place I can't seem to go to w/o always having to pay for something out of pocket. If it's covered by insurance there's something that they say it isn't and it'll cost you. To top it off, their products are pricey with regards to frames, lenses, contacts, services, etc. My last visit I had at Mill Creek Vision for my annual preventative eye exam, but they got me out of pocket for contact lens fitting (which I thought was covered my insurance, but they claim it isn't), Anyhoo, afterwards I asked for copies of my glasses and contact prescriptions and took them to Costco and purchased all my hardware there (despite jumping through some minor insurance hoops to get my annual hardware allowance back-which I did). Gotta tell ya, definitely more cost effective going that route. 2. But the biggest loss of stars in my rating is due to their front desk staff. A staff that DOES NOT know the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE and lacks a certain amount of professionalism. They are very condescending in how they talk and treat their customers. I base this on how they were with me and my family and how I observed them with other customers while I waited. There is one or two who stand out. If you've been there you probably know who I'm talking about. Anyhoo, they will make you feel as if you are interrupting them, putting them out for "Doing their job". They don't always do what is best for the patient/customer so if you don't ask, or question something chances are it'll get overlooked, ignored and you might get over charged or something forgotten. It doesn't help also that they seem to rush you at check in and during check out so they can get back to finger blasting their keyboards or phones. Again based on personal experience. The first three appointments I was able to schedule me and my family for the same day. If there's availability why not? Last time I tried to do it and despite open availability they denied it. Their reason I was told on the phone, they CAN'T schedule more than two family members at a time. WHAT? REALLY? So I ask why not, you've done it before and they tell me that it's policy. I try and continue to ask specifics about this policy and I'm told again, it's their policy and something about cancellation issues. Yeah whatever, I figure they're just being lazy. Policy or not, kinda ridiculous that they can't accommodate two adults and a child on the same day...oh wait a minute they have! but not today. Then there's a test that they do that looks at the back of your eyeball. You'd think it's a test that SHOULD be standard to an eye exam. It is an eye exam after all...it isn't so it'll cost you since it's NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE as part of your PREVENTATIVE CARE. Of course you can pass and instead they dilate your eyes for free I think (or maybe that'll cost you as well, I don't know, but what I do know, I've had that same test in other clinics and it was covered by insurance). Trying to get them to explain results in dirty looks and a mean-girl attitude...an no REAL explanation. So the "face" of the business does not make a good impression and they obviously don't realize that it's just as important as the service provided. This would be my 4th appointment to this vision clinic, but the front desk staff attitude has been pretty much consistent through out. So me and my family will probably be on the look out for another vision clinic. Too bad their front desk staff doesn't have the same customer service skills their optical staff does. read more

Called and was put on hold for a long time while the staff was checking my insurance. She told me to call back because she could not verify my insurance. Be very aware that your treatment is based on how much money this office can get from your visit. I saw my insurance statement that they wanted to charge almost 4 times of the insurance allowance. Because they know they would not be able to get the money they want, they treated my eye exam very casually. The tech took two tests that lasted less than 2 minutes. The doc took less than 4 minutes flipping a few charts of 1 better or two better, then wrote my eye exam prescription, which is the exact same as the that of the eye glasses I wore that day. I spent a lot more time signing many documents and waited in front than the total time for the actual eye exam. Do NOT recommend this place to anyone. One glared at me with annoyance the other was chatting away with someone and the third was RUDE and decided she would help me. She was irritated because of the spelling of my last name or she just wasn't paying attention. I was scammed by Mill Creek Vision. They charged me the full price for a glaucoma screening test which was done using a broken machine. They are unethical. They knew the machine was already broken when their technician used it on herself in the morning. They should have immediately called me to reschedule my appointment. Since my test results were unreliable, the optometrist wanted me to redo the test in 3 months when the machine is fixed. I called and spoke to the insurance agent who handled my case. She refused to make things right and will charge me the full price again for the redo. This could have been resolved so simply. Go elsewhere to find an optometrist. read more

Called on last week to make an appointment. The woman took my info, my medical insurance, etc and set me up for an appointment today. I called to confirm as I had not gotten a reminder (she said she'd make sure to call me the day before) and guess what... no appointment. They had me down for an appointment for the same day I had called. How could that even be possible? I get that staffing is tough these days but if I call expecting to be seen, please at least do your best to get me in. My wife and myself had a very bad experience. While the optometrist and the technicians we saw were great, the office staff is NOT that much. The receptionists were rude both in person and over the phone. They lack manners. We felt kind of unwelcomed. At one point, one receptionist asked me: "Did you wash your hands?" in a rude manner. Dr. Arima is a wonderful eye doctor, is efficient and explains things well. His many years of experience is obvious, and he has an endearing personality. My main purpose of reviewing is for the optician, Evan. My family has been going to MCV for many years and now I will only purchase glasses there from Evan. I make appts just so I can be assured he's there. Over the years we've had several opticians help us with selecting glasses, and while they were all nice (Jessica, who used to work there, was also great), Evan is exceptional. He knows what he's doing. He can steer you towards glasses that match your face shape, color preference, price range, and can give you an honest opinion when you're sitting with 2-5 pairs and can't decide. What I find unmatchable is his knowledge of accurately applying your insurance. As silly as that sounds, I've sat with other opticians during the pandemic years who may have over quoted me every time, so I chose not to get new glasses. I was sad when Evan left but was ecstatic when my daughter and I went for our most recent exam and saw Evan working in the optical department. Before walking in, I had told my daughter that we would probably be purchasing her glasses elsewhere so to not plan to stay after her exam. Because Evan is back, we not only got her new glasses but I finally got an updated pair that I wasn't planning on. I've even chosen my next pair of glasses I will be purchasing in the new year when my new insurance benefit renews. Evan makes finding the right pair of glasses a pleasant experience. This review is specifically geared toward their handling of the COVID19 pandemic: I visited this location three times. Once to have my vision checked. The second time to pick out glasses. The third time to pick them up. Each visit required a separate appointment, which was a hassle but ostensibly done to limit the number of people in the office suite. On my first visit an employee came to work demonstrably sick, coughing up a lung. Her cough was soupy and phlegmy and very bad. I heard her loudly state that she didn't have a fever and was therefore fine to work. After about ten minutes of discussion, she was sent home. I understand that people need to make money to pay their bills, but the fact that she felt she needed to come to work sick to do so says a lot about the benefits- or lack thereof- available to their staff. On my last visit I noticed that the waiting room was, in my opinion, uncomfortably full of people. Perhaps the office is still adhering to social distancing guidelines- I don't know- but I mention this to other people who are sensitive to the risk of getting sick. My biggest issue with this office- and it's a major one- is that they require all patients to wash their hands in a public toilet down the hall, by the elevator, prior to entering the office. While this, in theory, protects the workers, it potentially exposes the patients in a spot that is a known transmission site (toilets). I washed my hands the first two times I went there, and on the third time I waited outside the suite until I was summoned to the open door. At that time I opened up a bottle of hand sanitizer I had brought and sanitized my hands. When the employee instructed me to go down the hall to wash my hands, I told him I wasn't comfortable doing that because other people had used it with their dirty hands. I asked if sanitizing my hands was good enough (I was also just there, I might add, to pick up my pair of glasses. All I touched was my own glasses case). He tried to bicker with me about the policy, but the fact is that no one should make someone do something with their own bodies that they feel is unsafe. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree that all patients should be required to disinfect their hands before entering, but asking them to wash them using a public toilet is UNSAFE. Then the employee proceeded to launch a petty little microaggression my way for having had the audacity to speak up for myself: he called me Karen. Twice. My name is a variant of Karen, pronounced differently. I corrected him each time, but he knew what he was doing. Petty. And unprofessional. I have no reason to go back and won't. There are plenty of other fish in the sea as far as getting glasses goes. But I wanted to leave this review so others could see how the office was handling the pandemic and decide for themselves whether they were comfortable with it. I love the staff here. I've recommended both friends and families to come to this place because everyone is very friendly, knowledgeable (very important when seeing an optometrist of course), and has a great selection of glasses. The office is going through a makeover and the renovation should complete by the end of fall or sooner. My two year old went to his first eye exam and he felt very comfortable with everyone. Minus his eyes getting dilated (he's two and yes it was a struggle for those drops to go in because he just didn't want them in his eyes) but he was praised and treated so kindly (bless their souls!). Wow, what a disappointing phone call we just had with this location. My disabled husband was on the phone-- on speaker and he was inquiring about whether he would be able to be a patient because he has Medicare & Medicaid as coverage. We called this location because as you can see in the photos I shared, the Medicare.gov website states they and their providers accept Medicare insurance but he was turned away. After discussing with her manager she informed us they would not see him as a patient because of his Medicare & Medicaid "dual program" insurances. Immediately after him saying "oh, okay, thank you" she said "yeah, bye" and hung up before he could say anything. If this is how you speak to a disabled man who calls I don't want to give you the opportunity of seeing me or our son. A total lack of compassion or courtesy on the phone and I recall from the last time we visited with Medicaid coverage they were incredibly rude. I've been going here for 20 years and recently had another visit to follow up as my eyes are showing signs of aging, just like the rest of me! Anyway, l want to recommend Dr. Arima and his staff. Based on my experience, over the years, I have received consistently professional care and have had confidence that my eyes are healthy and my glasses prescriptions are correct. The equipment they have is the latest and I like the option not to have my eyes dilated. I recall a few times when I thought the entry level staff were a bit awkward as they guided me through the multiple tests and procedures while at the same time observing COVID safety procedures. Had an appointment here a few weeks back. As a new client there was an initial six week wait to be seen, and I had received a call from the office needed to push my appointment back an additional two weeks. So essentially a 2 month wait to get in. I had an awful experience and was seated for nearly an hour for what I was told would take around 20 minutes. Staff at the front desk was borderline rude. I never got to see the Optometrist I was scheduled with, but the one that did check my eyes told me I would only need glasses for driving at night. Pre-Covid experience-- spent a lot of money on glasses to have the tinted lenses, bi-focal and scratch protection and yet my bi-focals are so low and narrow they are useless and I have to physically raise and position my glasses and hold them to benefit. My scratch resistance I don't believe I received. My crappy reading glasses I use while where my contacts have been abused and yet I have very minimal and minor scratches into how scratched my glasses are. I bought a beautiful Tom Ford frame and treat them with kid gloves and the lenses are ruined with scratches. ,". When I brought this to the attention of the front desk, they dismissed it and said Id just have to do a redo, at my cost, for the bi-focals being so low and narrow because the kid messed up. Awful service! Very Pricy! Do more work before making any appointment! I brought my daughter for an eye exam, the only thing I asked is a normal eye prescription, finally I got a $220 bill for my daughter's prescription (they actually got an extra $75 from my insurance company, so totally they got $295). And I could not find any glass frame under $300 there, not mention the lens... Without insurance, they charge you $149 for a prescription, that sounds ridiculous. Compare the exam price at Cosco, the price for eye exam and prescription is $80. Here are more details of our visits: I asked very clearly at the beginning I just want a normal eye exam to get a prescription for my daughter, to decide later for new glass or contacts. The whole process was not happy too, we were left in the room long time for Dr. Arima, about 20 minutes later, a girl came in, and said sorry about waiting, since the doctor was not ready, they want to give us a free check about refraction during our waiting (this was tricky, and they did finally charge my insurance 2 code), she strengthened FREE, that was the worst part. Later when I called to billing department, they are very experienced to handle such billing questions and finally make you lose patience to talking with them. I have seen Eye doctors so many years, this is the worst experience about the vision check. the expensive eye prescription is useless also since we are going to look for another eye doctor! read more

This was my first visit to Mill Creek Vision. Dr Arima and staff are friendly and professional. I was there for contacts and new glasses. One thing I found particularly helpful was that during each step in the process, they would explain what they were doing and why. I've been to MANY optometrists and never had a clue what certain exams were testing for or measuring. Our son has special needs and gets overwhelmed in new places/when he reaches his limit. We switched to Dr Dok from a pediatric opthamologist to be closer to home. He's been wearing glasses since he turned 2. He's always done well with Dr Dok who truly has a way with kids but especially our boy and this goes a long way with us! Jessica is AMAZING. We absolutely love her and I was a little bummed on my own recent visit to MCV that I didn't need glasses as I was looking forward to having her help me out. Until the day comes where I need glasses my other 3 glasses-wearers will happily seek her out. I'm not the type to write reviews but I came to this clinic sometime last year and was supposed to make a review based on my experience but I ended up forgetting. My little cousin was learning how to put contacts on and I came to watch her. The Optometric Technicians were extremely nice and made me feel comfortable, as well as the front desk. The only problem I had was with one of the doctors, his name, I think is Dr. Arima. As I was watching my little cousin put contacts in, I noticed he walked into a room full of other technicians and began yelling at them. He probably thought we couldn't hear him but the walls aren't soundproof at all. The way he talks to his technicians is honestly disrespectful, especially in front of patients. The technicians were extremely polite and I'm sick that I had to witness something like that. I hope reading this review would make some changes within that clinic because that was absolutely not ok and the fact that my little cousin had to witness that as well was even worse. read more

I came in here and I saw Dr. Lisa Dok. For some reason she didn't believe me that I needed a prescription update. She told me I only had dry eyes and just needed drops. I am a metro driver and it is difficult for me to see street signs far away. I know I need a new prescription and don't only have dry eye. I started crying when she told me she wasn't going to give me a new prescription for my glasses. She seemed bothered and said she'd try again. We went over the same routine she did in the first round and she came up with a "prescription." She seemed annoyed and bothered with it. I understand she probably only thought I had dry eyes but maybe listen to your patient. Anyways. Glasses came and when I wore them my vision was worse. I went in and Jamie checked to make sure it was the correct prescription dr. Dok had ordered. It was. At this point I'm very sad because I only get one vision appt a year and I've waisted it on a doctor that didn't believe me that I couldn't see well far away! I explained all this to Jamie and she was great! They made me an appointment the next day to get my eyes re-checked with a different doctor, Dr. Kurt Russell. All free of charge. Dr. Russell listened to me and checked my eyes and found out in fact that Dr. Dok's prescription she wrote me was COMPLETELY wrong. He gave me the correct prescription and they even replaced my lenses free of charge. I have never seen better! Everyone except for Dr. Dok at this location is amazing. I will definitely go back because of how helpful everyone else is. But I will only see Dr. Russell. It was quite a pain to have to go more than once to get my prescription correct. Im writing this just so no one else has this problem with her. I'm not sure how many stars to give this place because they did fix the problem. I've been going to Mill Creek Vision for several years. Originally I was seeing Dr. Arima. Now I see one of his associates, Dr. Russell. My eye health is very complicated with my Retinopathy and the visual needs of my job. We tried different approaches to the problem until we found a prescription that was more customized to my needs. Dr. Russell has been very patient at giving me just the right prescription. The prescription for my lenses was very hard to determine but we got there! I saw Dr. Dok. I came in and explained to her that I was struggling with dry eye and my left eye felt like my prescription had changed. When she was checking prescriptions on me, I kept telling her that it was blurry but I could read it. She said it was ok to be blurry and barely changed my prescription. She also said that I had signs of high cholesterol or premature aging in my eyes and wouldn't explain or help me feel better about what she told me. When I picked up my glasses I immediately knew it was the wrong prescription. I called and made an appointment to fix it. Dr. Dok came in and told me that it was concerning that my prescription changed so fast and that I may have diabetes because it was my right eye that I had complained about during my first visit. I had clearly told her that it was my left eye that I was having problems with my vision. I explained to her that the prescription felt wrong as soon as I put the glasses on. She still insisted that it was likely that I have diabetes and refused to acknowledge any mistake that could have happened. She fixed the prescription but was repeatedly saying that it was concerning for diabetes. Dr Dok had horrible bedside manner, not taking the time to explain things to me and making me feel as though I had some serious diagnosis that would require some pretty big medical intervention including a lifetime of medications. She would not acknowledge her mistake and made me feel as though I was to blame for her giving me the wrong prescription to begin with and not listening to me. They did change out the lenses at no cost to me, that is the one bonus. The frame selection is fabulous. But I will never be going there for an eye appointment again and highly recommend against seeing Dr. Dok. read more

No, I don't have eye problems. Maybe that's my I have such good vision when it comes to seeing businesses for what they are. :) My girlfriend visited this clinic recently, and found their service to be exceptional. The doctors were great, the staff was friendly, and there was little wait time before she was seen. I don't like it when doctors waste my time, and this place made sure that our time was respected. Usually this type of service would earn 3-4 stars. What set them apart (and earned them their 5 star rating) was when we had a billing issue. They made it so easy to fix this problem, starting by getting back to me promptly. They were cordial and respectful. They listened, and then made the correction. I've been going there for many years (after a recommendation from a co-worker) and have been very happy with not only the kind and caring staff but Dr Arima, who is the most patient, kind, and empathetic doctor I think I know. He listens to what you say, makes valid recommendations and always makes me feel comfortable about my choice in going there. It's a bit of a jaunt for me to go up there, but it's worth every mile I drive. I have mixed feelings too about this clinic. Many 5-star moments: Physician's Assistant Lisa - awesome!; office was able to see me immediately that day with a few time options to choose from; technology and tests performed; even Dr. Wong was very kind and seemed to be knowledgeable....up to the point of providing a diagnosis. No diagnosis was provided. I asked Dr. Wong if she had seen my issue before / was it common?. She said no she hadn't seen it before but another Dr. in the office was reviewing my tests too. I was advised to use eye drops and that I only needed to come back to their office if I had a stabbing pain in my eye. She walked me to reception and reminded me "You do not need a follow-up appointment and do not need to come back here unless you are in pain". My husband kept telling me how strange it was to not receive a diagnosis. I finally went to their patient online portal to review my visit. Holy Cow! The diagnosis and comments written in my file were NEVER discussed with me. Turns out that I do have a serious condition/diagnosis and she suggested in the written record that I follow-up soon with another Dr. from NorthWest Eye Surgeons. Another positive: they have a patient portal so you can read the facts of your visit. UPDATE: Good thing I read my patient portal and self referred myself to Tony Huynh, MD. If I had waited until I had a stabbing pain in my eye as Dr Wong suggested - it would have been a retinal detachment. Turns out there is a preventative option to follow instead of waiting for the worst to happen . One appoint with Dr. Huynh and I received a complete diagnosis and treatment plan. read more

I love this clinic. Due to monitoring my glaucoma, I have been coming to this clinic for years. My favorite technician to work me up is Lisa, such an awesome and bubbly person! The office was clean and well kept. You can tell the doctor keeps up with the latest technology. I have been seeing Dr. Arima since the beginning, but have also been seeing Dr. Wong more recently since it is harder to find a time to schedule an appointment with Dr. Arima that works with me. This review is mainly directed towards comments made from another reviewer. I have been seeing Dr. Wong for the past two years. She is always super friendly and willing to answer any questions I have. Each visit with Dr. Wong has been nothing short of awesome. I find it strange that another reviewer said that Dr. Wong did not provide a diagnosis. If the diagnosis is in the patient online portal, why would the doctor make an effort to supposedly not say anything about it? If another doctor was also reviewing the tests, wouldn't they have also said something? It just does not make sense. That review seems fishy and based off my experiences with the doctor, I don't believe it. I highly recommend this clinic. read more
