Wow. Just wow. I DON'T recommend. Because, we sure didn't get what we had bargained for or paid for or what Silver State Fence had agreed to do or is supposed to do as a licensed contractor. It's quite clear Silver State Fence doesn't care about its reputation. NOT a single negative review here is responded to by them attempting to make it right for their customers, although their account is "claimed" here on Yelp. In violation of our contract with Silver State Fence one installer cut some of the posts and the pickets down making them too short. He was also yelling at the other installer because he spent more time on his cell phone, spilled concrete and missed hitting the posts while installing the pickets. We tried several times to get the posts and pickets corrected and the spilled concrete cleaned up. Finally, and with great grumbling from Silver State Fence, that was all sorta corrected. The installer who was yelling at the other installer then threw a temper tantrum and walked off the job. The other installer finally got off his their phone but only to yell at him as he walked off the job for leaving him alone. Then the City cited us for not have a building permit. We contacted Silver State Fence. No response. We contacted again. No response. We contacted again and again and again. No response again and again and again. After more than a month an AJ showed up. Said he would take care of it all. Turns out he was just blowing smoke at us as he didn't. We never heard back from him or Silver State Fence. Then we found out Silver State Fencing failed to give us the required Recovery Fund Disclosure, and that it is the contractor who's presumed to have violated the building laws when they commence work without the necessary building permit. NRS 624.520  Contractor required to notify owner of rights related to account; written statement; administrative fine for noncompliance. 1.  A residential contractor shall notify an owner with whom he or she contracts of the rights of the owner pursuant to NRS 624.400 to 624.560, inclusive, including, without limitation, providing a written statement explaining those rights in any agreement or contract for qualified services. The written statement must be in substantially the following form: RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION RECOVERY FUND Payment may be available from the Recovery Fund if you are damaged financially by a project performed on your residence pursuant to a contract, including construction, remodeling, repair or other improvements, and the damage resulted from certain specified violations of Nevada law by a contractor licensed in this State. To obtain information relating to the Recovery Fund and filing a claim for recovery from the Recovery Fund, you may contact the State Contractors' Board. NRS 624.3011(2) - If a contractor performs construction without obtaining any necessary building permit, there is a rebuttable presumption that the contractor willfully and deliberately violated the building laws of this State or of its political subdivisions. Since we're disabled and age 60 or over, the minimum fine to the contractor per NRS 624 is $10,000. read more

Roseanne responded quickly to my all my questions and was able to talk with someone to get me on the schedule sooner Rather than later. Two men showed up on Thursday 3.6.2025 the weather was cold with snow flurries. These two men kept at the job regardless of the weather. I highly recommend Silver State Fence and Stain. They coordinated with my concrete contractor to get the work done as needed and they accommodated a late design change that I made. The finished product looks good and functions well. We paid $14K for a fence + multi-gate project with Silver State several years ago. The main gate to our property, which they installed, was mis-measured and welded terribly, and for months would not properly open OR close. They finally - after countless phone calls and emails on my part - came back and "repaired" it, but it was still so poorly constructed that it's now permanently closed, unusable and barely rigged up with wire, as the welding has sheared off entirely. This is a nightmare in winter, as the gate is extremely heavy and must be open in snowy weather so cars can pass through. Worst of all, it leaves us without a safely fenced yard for our kids. I have called Silver State countless times. I have emailed. I have met with nice people who assured me they'd run this up the flagpole, only to never get back to me again. I have tried and tried and tried, as has my husband. We are at our wits end here, and can honestly say this is the most unprofessional, grossly negligent job we've ever hired out as homeowners. It has also involved a HUGE amount of recapping and reviewing and stressing over a contract/design plan that was probably never even feasible to begin with. (As in digging up archived emails to have yet another argument with yet another Silver State person who will disappear yet again.) It. Has. Been. Terrible. Now when people come over and say, "Wow, ugh, who did this to your gate?" I tell them, loudly, and ask them to tell their friends. Now I'm telling you. Gross as it feels to leave a bad review for a local business, this is truly next-level and something we tried to remedy many, many times. We also screwed up royally by paying these guys in the first place. I highly recommend you don't. PS: I loved their stain guy. He has absolutely nothing to do with this. read more

Had fence and gates installed about 18 months ago. After a year and half the barrel rollers seized up. Attempts were made to grease the hinges but they wouldn't take grease. Replaced zirks and they still wouldn't grease up. The bottom hinge completely seized up and the gate closer failed. I called Silver State for over three weeks and emailed them several times. It's been almost a month and my gates wouldn't open and we had to remove it to get in and out of our property. I finally had to call a reputable fence company to come out an fix their mess. The poor quality welds from Silver State should have been a contractors board complaint. read more

I was impressed with Silver State's response from the gate. Ron did the initial quote. He was professional and provided clear explanations for any questions we had. He responded quickly to a few changes we requested. We were wary of putting 50% down 3 months before the scheduled date. We were assured that the quoted price would be the cost irrespective of any increase of lumber cost. The 2 man crew worked tirelessly for 2 days to complete the job. I contacted Jess the Forman regarding a punch list that included one post that was not plumb. 2 days later Jess and the two men came out redid the post and completed the punch list. We received quotes from 4 companies. Silver State was not the least expensive. We are pleased with the diligence of their team. Both the work crew and office staff are professional, friendly and especially responsive. They offer a verbal 2 year warranty. I welcome the opportunity to refer them. I expect to contact them in 20 years when it's time to replace the fence. read more

SS Fence installed a chain link and a wooden fence. The chain link fence did not properly fit, even though I gave detail specifics to the estimator and the installers. The installers threw their trash in my xeriscaping, and did not replace properly the xeriscaping the had to move for the installation. The black coating on the chain link was a mess. it took them three times out and supervisors to fix it. The wooden fence was improperly built to match the fence it fit into, and they returned to fix it without enough materials to match. And, they poured their cement leftovers in my gravel. We just had a fence/gate installed by Silver State Fence in front of our house. It took 12 weeks but that happens everywhere these days. Needless to say, we are thrilled. We had a deadline for installation because of travel plans and really wanted that security before we left. Everyone at Silver State Fence was fantastic! Recent winds tore out two areas of our fence . We got three estimates and went with them as they were the lowest and could get out here fast. Estimates were really varied in Reno.. He came out with two of his guys and they had it done in two hours and also fixed a couple loose boards for no charge. His guys were great and they had it fixed a week after the damage. Time for the great fence unveil. Silver State Fence & Stain did an incredible job - bringing my design from concept to reality. They are great to work with, easy to communicate with, and don't stand around. They work, and work hard. From the job boss, to the daily crew, to the stain guy ... professional all the way. This job involved replacing the non-property line fences and gates that faced Drew Drive, and South Hills Drive. I was determined to use mixed materials - the corrugated steel, steel posts and cross members for the vehicle fence for durability, and then wood to soften the design. I think it's a more dynamic overall design. It took longer than either I, or Silver State, thought, but the end result is sooooo worth it. I contacted Silver State Fence on October 19 for an estimate but explained that because I work two jobs, I'd only be available at 4:45 or after for an estimate. I offered to send photos if that would help, but because it was a complicated job, someone would have to come out and measure. I advised I probably couldn't be there, but I'd be available via phone to explain what I wanted, answered any questions, etc. as they couldn't accomodate a 4:45 appointment. I scheduled an appointment between 9:30 and 10:30 on October 25 for November 13, and asked that the estimator call me so I can make sure my dogs are inside, and to try to see if I could possibly take my lunch break then and meet him. I received no call at all, nor did I hear from Silver State on November 13 for my scheduled appointment that I had waited over 2 weeks for. I e-mailed that morning to see how everything went/if they even showed up as I had not received the call I had asked for, and heard nothing back. I called that afternoon to see if the estimator had in fact made it, and the person on the phone was a bit snippy and told me the estimator had gone home for the day and she'd call me back the next day. I did receive a call today, but was unable to answer due to being at work and no one left a voicemail. I called back as soon as I was able and Lucinda said she had called me prior to my appointment date to let me know they were cancelling the appointment because they were unsure if I could be there. Contrary to what Lucinda said, I received no phone call at all saying the appointment was cancelled. Lucinda could not tell me what time she called, she said she called and my phone rang and rang, even though I tested my voicemail to ensure it worked (it does) and my call log does not reflect any communication from Silver State. After I called her out, she admitted she might have misdialed, but she did try to mislead me into thinking I had missed a call. Silver State simply screwed up and neglected to communicate with a potential customer, and made me feel like my business was unimportant to them. I totally understand that mistakes happen, but it's incredibly frustrating that I waited 2+ weeks for an appointment (when I should have been getting other estimates, evidently) and there was 0 communication on either the office's end or the estimator's end. I was willing to give Silver State another chance, and told them the only day I'd be available for an estimate would be November 21. Lucinda said she was unable to accommodate that, which demonstrated to me Silver State's standard of customer service. Terrible company. They did a section of the fence at my new house and were supposed to stain it, never heard from them for 4 months after the fence was up. They finally stopped by in April but it was windy and they could not do it, did not hear back for 4 weeks. I received an invoice for the balance 5 months after my construction loan was closed and now all the sudden they are in a hurry to collect their money, saying they won't stain the fence and threatening to put on lien on the house which they can't but whatever. This company is by far the worst I used for this construction. read more

Wow! Talk about a fast response. Allen Simpson, the owner, arrived at my home to quote for staining our fence within 20 minutes of my phone call. I was driving down I-80 and saw one of their trucks and liked what the sign said on the the door: "SIlver State Fence and Stain. Customer service is our number 1 priority" They delivered right there and then. Al also was very knowledgable, gave me good ideas as to which products to choose from, explained the process in detail (what they will and will not do) and a contract was signed within 15 minutes. He explained they will only do it when weather conditions are right. They will pressure wash it. They will protect plants and trees. He even said he would not kill a tree that my wife wants dead and I do not! He recommended my dear wife and I have a nice evening together instead! Thanks Al. Their hours were of course only 9am-3pm, so my husband had to take off work-- and then they didn't even show up! Silver State Fencing repaired and rebuilt our fence in south Reno after 3 huge wind storms had knocked it down. Matt came out and gave us a good quote, and came back to pick up the check after my neighbors had agreed to the price. The fence was built in 6 weeks as they had warned. Neo and Sara were very quick and did a great job. They had to rebuild one whole section and it looks better than the rest of the fence. Ron came out the other day and added the caps as they had run out of them being so busy with all the storms. We will not use any other fence repair, the next time our fence gets damaged. I had several fence companies come out to give me an estimate. Al from Silver State Fence provided the fastest, friendliest, and most knowledgeable service. He was able to come out the same day that I called and give me an estimate on-site (unlike others who needed to go back to the office to work up an estimate). He clearly explained the quote and the breakdown of costs, showed me photos of his work, and offered to give me references. They installed the fence for my new home. They do a terrible job and just rushed to put it up. They are completely incompetent. There are gaps between the boards, nails sticking out where the nails missed the board. They didn't nail some boards all the way. When they came back they hardly did anything and their response was, they don't provide a warranty for the fence. stay away from this company. read more

In March of 2010 we contracted with Lowe's in Fernley, Nevada for the construction of approximately one hundred feet of residential vinyl fencing. Silver State Fence & Stain in Sparks, Nevada were chosen by Lowe's as subcontractors to install this fencing. A dark cloud quickly formed over the project when the fencing product arrived at the Fernley store damaged. After another delay replacement product finally arrived at the store and we were told that Silver State Fence & Stain would start instillation. Missed appointments by them were the rule. There were no-show days when it may have been raining someplace in Nevada but it was only overcast in Fernley. Instillation didn't actually start until after I called the Fernley store Installed Sales Coordinator and asked what steps were needed to cancel the whole project. The resulting workmanship by Silver State Fence was anything but encouraging. Slipshod work is the best description I can give. One concern is with a walkway gate. Within the first week following it's assembly it was starting to disintegrate. Silver State Fence was still on site fixing the driveway gate. When I mentioned these fractures to the son of the owner, his only comment was that this would have to be covered under warranty. He added that I would have to take this up with the manufacture of the product. After spending six months and thousands of dollars we still don't have a fence that we can be confidant "will last, maintenance free, for years." read more

i do NOT recommend this company. ​they were supposed install new fencing with the fence wire to be hung before the cross rails were installed. this was to secure my front yard for my four dogs, and prevent them from climbing up the fence. they hung the wire on the outside, ran out of material (the wire and posts) and left about an 8 inch gap between the house and a rail that had exposed wire, that could have severely injured my dogs. the gap is large enough that my two small dogs can walk out with no effort. I requested that they remove the wire, remove the rails, obtain enough wire to completely enclose the area, then put the rails back up. the owner stated he is refusing to remove the rails to rehang the wire. the owner's offers of correcting the fence involve cobbling, and patching things so the fence will be appear as though an amateur put it up, which is unacceptable. the people in charge are very rude and unprofessional. i figured out how to post pictures of some of their fine work. read more

They tore out and replaced the fence between my neighbor and I and we were both pleased with the work as well as the complete clean up job they did. I also replaced my front fences and added a gate. Silver state fencing had their sales person come out and went through our plans and project. He said they would have to order everything for this project and they wee about three weeks out. During this time the sales person left and the new person had no idea about our project. I asked him to come over to discuss. I had to lay out everything again. Part of our order was powder coated metal polls. This was the longest part of the order. Well they come to find out they been sitting for a month is the back room. We are now three months into this project and half the money down. The project was planned different than I want and I had to bring them out several times to correct their mistakes. All in all I would fine another fence company. I asked for a discount because not it has been roughly 4.5 months. He said that they had already lost tons of money on my project. I told I did not care that we had lost all this time. I delayed paying him the rest of the balance the sale time they held me out. read more
