My neighbor was walking by and two dogs had escaped this location; one pit bull and one German shepherd. The two dogs were standing in front of an OPEN GATE from this facility. The dogs were growling and barking and then both dogs charged at my neighbor! Luckily my neighbor picked up some rocks and threw them at the dogs to stop them. My neighbor and another man were able to escape without being attacked. Someone should call the police and at least make a report on this facility. read more

We have a pair of Cavaliers who have loved it here every time we've had to board them. It's like camp for them and they remember and get excited when we near the entrance. One of the more affordable places also :) read more

Well my boys were there for a week. 2 labs. I picked them up this morning and I was told hey we gave them a bath cause my young lab had poop on his rear end which I find odd but was grateful they got baths. So this distracted me from inspecting my boys. Came home to notice my older lab had a scabbed over nose, an injury on his tail and his belly had a massive rug burn sore on it No mentions were made to me about any of these incidents. read more

I dropped off my six month old black lab pup for obedience training and then Hunt training which may have been one of the hardest things that I have done. I trusted the process and what I got back is an obedient extremely well trained dog. She is the talk of the neighborhood and my duck club. I have access to some of the top trainers in the country and I will send my next door to Lori and Kayla. I read some of the other reviews about handling. The big dogs are exposed to a bunch of other big dogs and they play hard. Kids also play hard. It is called socialization. read more

Don't do it. My dog was injured and left for "a few days" the vet said without medical attention. No explanation. Looked like a dog bite or puncture wound. They never even mentioned it, he was pure white so I'm not sure how they didn't see his entire hind leg bloody. Then the owner called me after I left message that I was upset and then she tried to say that the only other dog he was with was my other dog but according to my instructions and the other employees he was alone the whole time. I boarded three dogs for almost $600. I asked for his boarding fee to be returned she refused and said maybe it was a cyst or some thing that burst I know my dog did not have a huge cyst on his hind leg. He's a small dog he was bit by one of the bigger dogs if I had to guess, which I do because they will not tell me what happened.... there's a reason why there is room here and not at the other kennels!! read more

We have boarded our Weimaraner Oakley several times at Silver State and have never had any issues. The staff are friendly and we never have problems making reservations. Other place around town fill up since there so small. Here they have a nice large grass play area with really helps a hyper Weimaraner like Oakley to get exercises. She usually comes home looking nice and fit after playing everyday for the time were gone. They people who run this are defiantly very passionate about your dogs which really comforts us while we're away. I'd recommend Silver State Kennel to board your dog! read more

Our golden doodle 60 lbs 1 1/2 years old and never agressive or a problem with us, the groomer or his vet and never threatening to other dogs came home with hair clearly pulled off his back. Looks like the handlers grabbed him so much it pulled the hair off. We have two five year old girls and the dog is completely socialized and friendly. Just saw the other review that this place does not treat bigger dogs well. Wish I had seen that earlier. I mean it's a golden doodle. They are just goofballs and don't deserve harsh treatment. read more

My in-laws recommended Silver State Kennels to us when we got our golden pup four years ago. After trying nearly every kennel in town over the course of several years, they had settled with Silver State. My father-in-law is very particular about service, so I take his recommendations pretty seriously. We first brought our dog here as a 5 or 6 month old puppy, and she continues to go when we are away, several times a year. We have found the staff at Silver State Kennels to be professional, friendly and well organized. They love our dog like their own and send her home better behaved than she was when she left. They play with her, feed her and care for her as well as we could hope for. They are typically available on short notice and have only been unavailable one time when we called with short notice before a holiday weekend. The best recommendation of all should come from our dog, though, who knows where we are headed when we exit Lemmon drive, and starts to get very excited. When you drop off, they ask you to leave the dog in the car while you check in. She can hardly contain her glee when we arrive and whines to be let out of the car when we go inside. I take that to be her way of telling us that she loves Silver State Kennels even more than we do. Highly recommend! read more

A few weeks ago my husband and I were at Walgreens across the street from Silver State Kennels. We noticed 2 golden retrievers running around loose. Being animal lovers we were worried that they would get hit on the busy street. We attempted to get them both in the truck but the younger one rushed down the hill and across busy traffic almost getting hit and causing a huge accident. The older one ran up to us laid down and seemed grateful that help had arrived. We drove across the street to Silver State. A young girl came out and we explained what had happened. She stated they were not missing any dogs. We asked if they could help us out as we are not allowed to have any pets at our place. She was like sure let me get a leash. She did state the only thing they could do is call the pound. I said that was fine we were just worried that the dog would get killed by a car. Then a guy came out and was RUDE! He said listen we are not a shelter this is a business I am running here. ! We can't take any stray dogs here! and then walked away before we could say anything. I can understand that he is running a business and not a shelter but come one tie the dog up away from the other dogs outside. Help us out a little bit. I didn't need to be spoken to so rudely by him. I asked him(before he stormed off) if he would rather us just drop the dog off on the side of the road again. He looked back and said I don't care she is not staying here. Well the girl who was super cool took the dog anyway. We did try calling the owners of this dog but they never called us back. while I understand that they were not a shelter... I think he could have been nicer. the place was clean... but small. read more

I was charged extra to bring my own food and for the dog to eat, rather than whatever their in-house food is. I don't have a problem with that and don't mind paying a bit extra for extra service. When I got my dog back he had diarrhea and shat all over the house, which leads me to believe that they just ignored my request and collected my money. I won't be using them again. read more

Used this kennel to board my dogs a few times and each time I had gone to pick up I heard yelling and screaming, NOT very professional if you ask me. I don't take them here anymore because of it and would rather not risk what else might happen if they continued staying. My dogs also came home more aggressive then when they left, had diarrhea and when confronted about it they didn't apologize or anything. I DONT trust this place and never will read more

This is a really nice place to board dogs and get some training if or when needed. They have runs that are heated and the dogs have lots of room to run and exercise. The staff was really friendly, my dog actually likes coming here, he is like ok see ya later. They keep it really clean, and the staff is very friendly. I had some training done and now whenever I say here or sit he does it without any hesitation. Which is totally wonderful read more

We recently boarded our labrador at Silver State Kennels for the obedience training. This is our 5th dog and Carolyn continues to do an outstanding job. Her staff are also wonderful and the facilities remain immaculate after almost 25 years. We now have a well behaved, well mannered dog, whom is a pleasure to take on a walk, through out the neighborhood or hiking. We don't have to worry about the dog running off, up the mountain. We don't have to yell and stumble. The dog is unbelievably respondent, thanks to Carolyn and her team. Carolyn was also kind enough to take the time to write a letter to a dog company, regarding our"unchewable" pillow. The company, promptly, send us a new pillow. We plan to get a puppy in the fall, and all her advise and teaching us how to train the dog was as good as 25 years ago. We highly recommend her kennel and we don't write reviews. Betsy I. read more

because i decided to board my 4 dogs over the christmas holidays a little late in the game my regular places were unavailable. i have an escape artist who has been politely banned from 3 other facilities. he's a climber and can manipulate doors and latches. after calling around, silver state came to my rescue. i met the staff, and was given a tour of the facilities and grounds. i was shown the exercise yard where the escape artist and buddies would stay and was confident that they could keep him from climbing out yet it had a good amount of room to flex. that area has a chain link fence overhead to keep him inside the pen. i was surprised to learn that silver state kennel provides a decent quality dog food, and medicates your pet, both at no additional charge. while i was out of town i had to change my return plans twice (snow storm then the flu) both times i called to let them know, i was quickly reassured that there would be no problem keeping them a few extra days. when i picked up my 4 pack, they were ready to go home, however they appeared to be happy, and well fed, with no signs of stress or unwellness. they were also bathed with toe nails clipped, again at no charge! did i mention i received a multi dog discount? the only complaint and it is relatively minor, is that i wish there would have been a way to have all 4 dogs sleeping together but due to their various sizes (10 lbs, 17 lbs, 34 lbs, 105 lbs) the littlest one could have slipped out of the biggest pen. their concern is keeping your pet safe. i will be bringing my crew back here again. thank you silver state kennels. read more

I love Silver State Kennels. They were recommended to me by my vet when my Weimaraner was a puppy. He's now 12 years old and spends a week a "puppy camp" once or twice a year. The facility is clean and the animals safe and secure. Everyone there is pleasant, professional and allows me to enjoy my time away without worry. I used Silver State Kennels for almost a year to board my dog. I travel a lot for work and have boarded my dog approximately ten times at the facility. My dog gets overly excited (at the kennel they called her a monkey) sometimes especially around other dogs. I am fully aware of this and know that at kennels sometimes certain things happen. My dog was never fearful of any of the staff and always walked back to the kennel area with her tail up and wagging, so I do not think the staff is ever aggressive to the animals. However, the list of issues I have had when I picked up my dog has made me realize that they do not pay enough attention to the animals. In the ten or so times I have boarded her: she has come home with eye infections twice, ears so matted they had to be shaved off, lost her voice from barking so much (they said this was because she had a monkey next to her and she and the other dog antagonized each other, which I can see happening) and during the most recent boarding event she had a stream of dried urine along her back where it had been obvious that a male dog had urinated on her back. I get that dogs pee on each other other, chew on ears, get eye infections; however, if I am paying for someone to take care of my dog I would hope that the kennel staff would take a minute to brush out a dog if they see that another dog had been chewing on them, clean the eyes (the two times I picked her up with eye infections her eyes were so crusty and filled with discharge it looked very uncomfortable), or clean the urine off a dog if it had been peed on. If two "monkeys" are side by side and barking all the time, then put a few mellow dogs between them so they don't keep up the whole kennel barking and stressing out the other dogs. Furthermore, my dog is an intact female and I noticed that she had started her first season after picking her up during this last visit. This means that if the dog that urinated on her was an intact male, there is a slight chance that I'll have unwanted puppies in my future. All the kennel staff knew that my dog is an intact female and that I was letting her go through at least one season before getting her fixed for her bone development. I had discussed my concerns to the staff about her going into season while boarding and they expressed confidence that they would handle things appropriately if that happened. I cannot, in good conscience, ever take my dog to board here again. read more
