I love seeing this truck at the farmers market and other community events. I like how they have savory pies, hand pies, desserts and vegan options! Menu changes monthly

We all know the detectability of a classic pie. Crisp and buttery crust (hopefully a little on the salty side), sweet or savory filling, and an acceptable meal breakfast lunch or dinner (right? At least for holiday weekends). But not many have had the chance to experience the magnificence of the lesser known cousin, the hand pie, or as we call it in NV, the pasty! Can I get a hell yeah for hand pies? Did you know these treats are deeply rooted in the history of the Silver State? If so, you'll agree it makes perfect sense that Silver State Pie is carrying the torch and bringing these to the people. I spotted the truck outside The Generator, and with the air cooling, a pie sounded just right. I ordered up the pork and apple, and found it to be so good. Their crust is light and crisp, a bit different than a pie crust because it has to hold up to what's inside. I was surprised the filling was minced, creating a meatball of sorts within, but it was a great execution because the filling held all of the juices making each bite moist and full of flavor while leaving the crust crunchy! It came with a mostarda as well, which was a fantastic foil to the rich and slightly sweet filling. Home run! I can't wait to try more of their pies. People need to find this truck and get some!

Stopped at this food truck during an event & was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Reuben Hand Pie with Mac & Cheese. The wait was about 10 mins to get my food. I was a little disappointed when I saw how small the hand pie was, but it was VERY good! And, it was surprisingly filling - so don't let the size fool you. Everything tasted very fresh. I was slightly disappointed with the Mac & Cheese, but they have other sides you can choose. I'm looking forward to trying something different next time. I liked that they source a lot of their ingredients locally. The food truck itself was very clean & organized. I'll try them again, they're a tasty little food truck gem!

We ordered the chicken pot pie, the steak and cheddar pie and the Reuben hand pie, all of which came with macaroni and cheese, which was really tasty all the all of the pies are well thawed out and include several different ingredients in each one definitely worth your time and effort to stop by and have a hand pie or a meat pie. The only mishap that I had was on my steak and cheddar the crust was a little brown for my liking, but other than that the service was excellent, and the prices are fair. Definitely a place to go to have a great surprise meal. The trailer that the pies are served out of seems to be well cared for as clean, and the menu is posted clearly with full exposure of prices and ingredients of each pie and the fact that they have a rotating menu causes one to come back and see what they've come up with next week Enjoy.

Came across Silver State Pie's truck on my way home from dinner and stopped because there is always room for dessert. I was expecting them to have only dessert pies but they also have pot pies. I would love to try their chicken pot pie but since I just had dinner, I ordered a slice of their key lime and a slice of apple. First bite of key lime, my thought was, "That's good." My first bite of the apple pie, I thought, "Oh my God! That's good!" The slices are normal sized. Not big and not small. Definitely the perfect size slice so you can enjoy dessert without hating yourself after. I am looking forward to trying their pot pies next.

In the parking lot of the Generator Community Maker Space was a savory silver food truck. This was the every third Thursday event at the maker space. We chose chicken pot pie w/side of mac & cheese or pizza pie w/side salad. The crust makes the pie and SSP did it. This is a complete double crust pie. It is served hot with a very flaky crust. There are several other pies and you get to pick your side. They also have pop and water. Excellent job folks.

Silver State Pie Co. is popping up at all my favorite places this week, lucky for me! So I get to try different things and eat as much of their homemade mac n cheese as I want. Heck yeah! Each savory pie comes with a side, mixed greens or mac n cheese, and the curried lentil hand pie is vegan. So if you're not into meat- you have a delicious option! I need to try the sweet pies too...it does get kinda pricey for both so I'll switch it up. The guys slinging the pie were super nice too- so I am happy to support this new(? to me for sure) delicious food truck!

The carrot cake pie was the best pie I've ever eaten in my entire 37 years of life. Found at baby animals day at Andelin family Farms

Silver State Pie is incredible! My husband and I were looking for unique catering for our wedding - these savory and sweet pies (and sides) were perfect for our semi-fancy outdoorsy day! Working with Jason and Colten was super straightforward (truly excellent service) and all the food was delicious! They worked so well with a variety of dietary restrictions (GF/Vegan/ & allergies) to make sure there was something for all of our guests - everyone left the reception full and happy. :) Leading up to the day, we stopped by to sample pie across a few months (also because everything we tried was delicious, and food truck events always have such fun atmosphere). The only 'tricky' part was deciding which flavor of pies we wanted, since everything we tried was so good. We went with the chicken pot pie, a veg Thai coconut red curry, and pork barbacoa for savory hand-pies. Sweet pies were a caramel apple, double cherry, strawberry rhubarb, and peach pie with whiskey toffee sauce. Highly recommend as a caterer AND a go-to visit for a quick and filling meal!

I stopped at this food truck while strolling through the Riverside Farmers Market on a Sunday Afternoon. I got the chicken pot pie and I was very impressed with it. They gave it to me in styrofoam box that I proceeded to bike home across town. It came with a small cucumber salad in a special marinade. 40 Minutes later the pie was still warm and hot on the inside. The Crust was buttery and fluffly and the gravy was so flavorful! It also had carrots and peas in it if a remember correctly. It did not take long to get. If you are ever out at a cold event, their pot pie is the thing to get! Way to go.

Everything I have ever had from this truck has been 10/10! All the desert pies are excellent and delish! They change their menu every month so it's fun to try different things when you spot them out and about. They were a highlight of mine last summer at Feed The Camel. We also purchased some whole pies at Thanksgiving and they were a hit at both celebrations we attended. Highly recommend!!

We ordered the Dust Storm: a vanilla milkshake with chocolate bits, topped with a giant blondie skewered dramatically on top, plus whipped cream, sprinkles, and chocolate drizzle. The rim of the jar was coated in marshmallow dip and graham cracker crumbs because apparently subtlety has left the chat. Honestly, the presentation was on point and exactly the kind of milkshake kids dream about. Which is why we ordered it. My tween declared it "the best milkshake I've ever seen in my life," and honestly, that alone made it worth the stop on our mother-daughter trip. Taste-wise, it leaned very sweet for me and didn't have a ton of flavor depth beyond sugar overload. But clearly the goal here is maximal fun and aesthetic, and they absolutely nailed that. It's basically a photo op you can drink. The shop itself was surprisingly quiet when we visited in the evening--we had the whole place to ourselves--but there were games to play while waiting for our order (we pulled out Pick Up Sticks, which transported me straight back to my 90s childhood living room). The ladies at the counter were also incredibly kind and patient explaining the menu and flavors to us. If you're looking for an over-the-top dessert experience your kids will talk about for days, this is your place.

In my opinion, it wasn't enough. There was a steady flow of people, and she couldn't keep up with orders and customer service. We opted for two small scoops of ice cream for the kids: chocolate and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. We also ordered the sizzling blonde brownie sundae. It was about $20 for three items. The ice cream was very good, especially the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Very unique flavor and great texture. The blondie was a bit of a letdown. First, the blondie was not "sizzling". It wasn't even really warm. Only placed in a waffle iron for a few seconds. Second, it seemed very dry and crumbly, maybe even overbaked. I thought the ideas at Black Rock are fun, and I think trying one of their milkshakes should be my next visit. However, there are a lot of great ice cream spots in Reno. For just ice cream, I think there is some heavy competition.

YELP REVIEW PROMPT…read more Checked on Yelp for a dessert spot that I haven't tried before. Sierra Nevada Creamery and Bakery was a quick four minute walk from our lunch spot so we thought why not! It's located right next to the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts and has a very small parking area. There are restaurants on either side so there is also street parking. It was a warm day so I decided on a double scoop in a cup, one pistachio and one sea salt caramel. The double scoop was huge, definitely no skimping and only $10. There was one person ahead of us and then tons of people piled in after we did so we got there at a really good time! There was only employee working (I think he may have been the owner). I felt so bad because it was just him and he had a line almost out the door but if he was stressed he did not show it. He was friendly and so professional. The inside is pretty small but there some places to sit and if the inside is full the grass area right outside isn't a bad place to enjoy your treats. I would recommend for sure and I definitely want to go back and try a chocolate chip cookie. Things to note: Read his story on the ice cream menu. I enjoyed it and that is what makes me want to return to try the chocolate chip cookie.

I was surprised to see this place as I've driven by this strip of businesses many times and never noticed this particular spot. They offer homemade treats, but mostly ice cream. They have an almost unmatched selection of non-dairy ice creams and sorbets. A nice surprise. The gentleman helping us was very nice and gave us a full rundown of how they make everything in house. He offered samples and suggestions. I sampled the flavor of the week, Lavender Honey Matcha, and the coconut cream coffee. My kids decided on the mango sorbet and the classic strawberry. Everything was delicious. The coconut cream ice cream had great flavor and texture given that it was non dairy. My wife and I decided on the matcha flavor of the week. It was very refreshing. The strawberry had real chunks of strawberry which is always a treat. My biggest critique is the texture of the ice cream. This stuff seemed very crumbly. I prefer a much more "chewy" or "sticky" ice cream if that makes sense. This stuff was more "dry" and less "creamy". There are some other local shops in the area that make great ice cream exactly how I like it, which is the only reason for 4 stars. I'm not sure this would be my top place for ice cream again. The smallest "one scoop" size is actually nearly two full scoops. Could be a good thing for some, but a kids scoop is always appreciated for my toddlers, especially a a slightly discounted price. That is not an option here. There are a few small tables inside to enjoy your treats and lots of to-go options which is always nice. The place was clean and well decorated. It was steadily busy while we visited, indicating that this place is likely here to stay. Overall, worth stopping in if you're in the area. The flavors are unique and tasty and the non-dairy selection is fantastic.

The atmosphere was lively and energetic, with groups celebrating birthdays and other special occasions. After looking over the menu, we decided on the lox crostini bites and the bruschetta.
