My husband's burger was ok. But not anything great. My daughter's Lebanese salad was terrible. Neither the hummus or tabouli had any flavor, the steak pieces were thick and tough. And the lettuce was in massive pieces. My Maui wowie chicken. Had no wow. The chicken was good but I can't decide if the rice was so undercooked that it was still crunchy or so over dry from sitting that it was dehydrated. And to top it off, we told the waitress I had a seafood allergy not to bring us fries if they were cooked in the same seafood My food came with fries that are fried in the same oil. They were really busy so I just told the waitress to bring me a separate plate and I would put the fries on a separate plate and just eat around it. She proceeded to bring a second plate and then just reached on my plate with her hand and started grabbing handfuls of fries off, didn't let me have a chance to slide them off myself with a knife. I will definitely not be coming back to this place. Oh, and there's a huge crack around the women's room bathroom door. I could see my daughter and granddaughter inside.

We came it with a group of 9 and our server was very accommodating and helped us move some tables together. The food was very good and fairly priced. I really enjoyed the fries here, thin and crispy! All of our food came out quickly after ordering and our glasses were always full, I will definitely be stopping here again.

Beautiful decor inside and patio seating is available too! Our waitress was busy but always made it back to us. A+ service. I ordered the Ruben and my wife had the French dip. The Ruben was grilled to perfection with just the right amount of thousand island and sauerkraut. The au jus for the French dip was flavorful and not too salty like other places we've been to. We'll definitely be back

Hi Friends, Boogying down to Waterville to catch a show at the Opera House, I Bebopped over to SST for a pre show bite to eat. A well appointed room, with many classic tavern trappings, the place was hopping as one of the joints open on a Sunday night with a sold out show right within walking distance. I was greeted by a harried hostess, who nonetheless was upbeat and on point. I put my name on the waitlist and did that the bar would be alright as I was flying solo Well, the hostess, seeing the growing line of hungry couples behind me, took it upon herself to move the boss's meal from a bar seat, freeing it up for me The place has a lower level, which wasn't open on a Sunday night (sign at door had me thinking it's more of a private event space). I'm not sure if they were unaware of Elvis Costello show being a sellout or if they were already all hands on deck The good- I went with a Southwest avocado burger, which was perfectly cooked to my request and bursting full of flavor. Both the hostess and the bartender were on point, even though they were on the edge of the weeds. And for a crowded room, the sound level was not obsessive The bad- the joint did feel understaffed. The solo bartender could've had either a dedicated bar back or a service tender, as she was trying to serve her 10 or so stools while making the drink orders for the rest of the dining room. Because of the bartender being on verge of weeds, I didn't order an app nor did I more fully explore the menu and specials. And the dessert seemed be a purchased item rather than housemade, which at price point as well as quality of other food I saw come out from the kitchen, that was a let down Would I recommend SST? Absolutely! Will I try it out again when I'm in Waterville? Most definitely Would I go out of my way to dine there? No, I'd need to be in town, I wouldn't come off the highway to come 2 miles into downtown to eat here See y'all at the crossroads

This place exceeded my expectations in every way! Environment was booming and our bartender, Ella was fabulous. Amazing service and great food!

Service here was good overall. Great the first night I came, bartender was on point and attentive, kitchen staff was a little cold but they were trying to close up so I won't hold that against them. Service was a little less great on the second night but it was much busier and attentions were everywhere. It wasn't too loud for how busy it was so that was good but with rowdier crowds it could easily become overwhelming. Food was great the second night, items ordered are pictured in the review. First night was a limited menu and as I said right as they were closing up, but I ordered the deconstructed nachos and everything tasted like it was served out of a can. It was tortilla chips with a side of refried bean dip and melted cheese, side of lettuce, some pickled jalapeños, sliced black olives, sour cream and salsa. Not great. They do have a varied and extensive menu so I'm sure they have plenty of other winning dishes, and I am willing to come back and try again.

The local root beer was good. We had a rack of ribs and chicken pot pie and we were both pleased with our meals. The servers were very friendly and they have some nice historical art photos of the area. Right across from a pretty fancy hotel as well.

Location - Great thing about their location is there are plenty of places to kill time while waiting for your table - local shops or Waterville Creates. We were there on a Saturday and we arrived around 2:30 for an late lunch/early dinner. To our surprise, there was a 25 minute wait! It's a popular family restaurant as well. It's a lot bigger inside than it seems from the outside. When you walk in, there are mostly high tables and a long bar with seating. Walk past the bar and on the right is a dining area with a lot more tables. We had 2 kids and 4 adults and we had plenty of room at a center table. There were booths along the wall. Our server was so great. So patient, and kind. She was great. She checked in regularly, our drinks never went dry. The food was excellent. We had the food for take out during the pandemic and thought it was ok. Having it in the restaurant - HUGE difference. I got the cheese curd burger without the top bun. My nephew loved his chicken wings, my niece loved her mac and cheese. We all loved our burgers and my bro-in-law liked his reuben. I loved the fries, they seemed more the "chips" from the UK - which I loved. Parking - street or on the concourse below Main Street. We will definitely be back.

The tables appeared to be cleaned with a gentle mist of wishful thinking, and I'm fairly certain the dust on the windows qualified for historical landmark status. As for management, I've seen more organization in a flock of startled pigeons. Every problem was met with the same expression: a blank stare that suggested they were hearing about the concept of customer service for the first time. The owners must be running a revolutionary new business model where profits are protected at all costs, including basic maintenance and paying employees enough to pretend they're happy to be there. The staff looked exhausted, underappreciated, and one server blinked "help me" in Morse code. Learning they've fired a server over a hearsay review confirmed my suspicions and compelled me to share my own experience in this unworthy establishment. The food arrived eventually. I'm assuming it took a long journey and stopped to see relatives along the way. On the bright side, I saved money on entertainment because the entire experience was a live-action comedy. Would not recommend unless you're conducting research on what happens when nobody is in charge.

But I had…read moreheard cushnoc was opening a cantina up the river and I've enjoyed their downriver establishment before, so I was excited enough to be slightly disappointed. It's still new, so there is still hope for them, but I don't think this place will last unless some things change. So here are my details... The prices are not very good, especially for the sizes. If they had counter service/seat yourself instead of table service, I might be able to get behind the prices, but with an added 20%+ expected tip, the experience didn't seem worth it. I can get better, bigger tacos for less money in cities that are typically more expensive like Portland. I can also get nice meals for reasonable prices right across the street here in Waterville. If I want to visit Cushnoc in particular, I would go to Augusta, where the establishment has a clear vibe, with better food, service, and prices. So realistically I don't see myself choosing Cushnoc Cantina again over other options. The atmosphere here was nice, decor was pleasant and clean, but didn't give an identity to the space. Cushnoc says this is NOT a Mexican restaurant, and I believe that after my visit. But then, what is it? But we were seated at a table placed directly where two benches came together, so I was seated on the lip of two benches, which was uncomfortable. It did not seem like the staff even realized things like this and other details about their space, their seating plan, etc. Our waitress was also clearly new to waitressing and was timid, which isn't a huge issue, but was indicative of a new establishment that has not found its groove. Now for the food, we had Cantina Tots, which was a favorite. The Tajin made them very salty, but the crisp tots with the fresh cotija cheese was great. I did notice cotija was not listed as an ingredient pf this item on the menu though, so not sure if this is what I would get each time. Next, we ordered the Esquites Caesar, which I was looking forward to because I have previously enjoyed the Caesar at Cushnoc in Augusta and I figured it would be a fun twist on that. Sadly, it was smaller for more $, the pork belly was chewy not crispy, it was dressed very lightly, and the flavor of the dressing was very light/bland. We also ordered several tacos. When I went to order fish tacos, the waitress apologized and said she forgot to let us know they were out of fish. They were able to make the taco with shrimp instead, which was nice, but we would have appreciated learning about this when seated rather than after selecting what we wanted to order. All the tacos were decent, though small. Many of the flavor profiles were innovative, with flavor profiles from cuisines other than typical Spanish/mexican influences. The carnitas was our favorite! We also liked the Beer-ia, but it was a bit cold. TLDR: they're new, haven't found their identity, and I'll be interested to see if they're able to last. I unfortunately am not planning to go back anytime soon.
