LOVE LOVE LOVE this place and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to neuter/spay their dog, cat, or rabbit! Drop off is around 7:30-8:15 AM and pick up is from 3:15-3:45 PM the same day! Staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly! They answered all of my questions/concerns over the phone and during my rabbit's physical examinations (which they perform before each neuter/spay to make sure your pet is healthy enough to undergo surgery). Appointments can be scheduled online (http://www.napahumane.org/clinic_request_appointment.html) or by phone (707-252-7442) and medical consent forms (http://www.napahumane.org/clinic_surgery_pre.html) can be filled out beforehand to speed up the check-in process. I brought my two rabbits here on a Tuesday morning and was out at 3:15 on the DOT! They are both recovering well and the receptionist provides everyone with a post-surgery care list for each animal. They even clipped my rabbit's nails for freeee!! Overall, a GREAT place to go if you're looking for a CLEAN, SAFE, and FRIENDLY environment for your pet! I recommend this place to anyone and everyone looking to spay/neuter/microchip their furry friends! Here is a list of services they provide (way cheaper than SPCA or a veterinarian!): (Taken from their website: http://www.napahumane.org/clinic_fees.html) We welcome OUT OF COUNTY residents to utilize our Spay/Neuter Clinic April 2015 - June 2015. The reason i would NOT recommend this shelter is because i don't feel they were upfront with me about the dog i brought home. Firstly, He has fleas, and they didn't inform me. they did tell me he was given nexgaurd, (a medication for fleas, heart worms and ticks), and i would have to give him his second dose. but they told me that in succession with all of his other medical information, and i assumed it was completely preventative and something they put all new dogs on, just like the shots and microchip we were also discussing. not once did they specifically disclose the fleas at all. Second, i asked if he was house trained and they said as long as he has access to outside, he will go outside. that has turned out to be the farthest from the truth, he isn't house broken at all and training him for it has been going poorly. i was looking specifically for a dog that was already house broken. i do know dogs can have a regression after adoption, and have been patient but theres been 0 improvements no matter what i do for him. he seems to only want to go inside. and finally, he has a trauma with men that was severely downplayed during the adoption and i wasn't told until after we had traveled over an hour to come get him. i have been putting in the work for this dog, and i love him. he is worth it. but this is not at all what i prepared myself for, despite doing my best to spend months looking into the right establishments and breeds for our family and situation. this place has nothing but amazing reviews, and i thought if i had seen one like mine, i at least would have gone into it knowing what i do now. so if you've read this far, please take my experience into consideration when making your decision on what establishment you choose, and if it is this place, ask every question you can think of to make sure you don't leave feeling just a little deceived.

Over the years she and I went on many hikes together. She was always by my side. So very loyal. We added our Sons dog, a Shepsky, also adopted from Coppers Dream, to our family, as he was always traveling. Those two dogs spent many years together, always protective of me and of each other on our many hikes. I would periodically send in photos to CD, and always had a friendly reply. Almost like a family. One morning, up in ALanden Quicksilver Park, going up a steep narrow trail, they suddenly half turned and let rip with ferocious barks. A cougar came racing down the hill, I guess it wanted us for breakfast. Nope. Their utter ferocity in their barking and stance was one obstacle. The second was Bear Spray. That cougar decided quickly that this would not be a good way to start the day. Those two adopted dogs were Loyal, lovable, Protective, Goofy. Play ball? You bet. They loved swimming, exploring and making friends. My lab lived until she was 15. Our Shepsky passed a year or so before. Coppers Dream has always been professional, friendly and easy to approach. My dog Cherly was a homeless hound from Oklahoma who lived at the Big Dog Rescue for a year and a half of her life. Cheryl (the owner) and staff has put so much love and care into her passions. They dogs she's rehabilitated, the care they receive, they support they get. You have to be one lucky pup to be at the Big Dog. My dog loves coming back to the Big Dog for visits. She's super excited and happy. Cheryl wants to make sure her dogs are going to the home that is the perfect match. She will carefully screen as every rescue should do. I've read some of the 1 star reviews on here. And Cheryl is right, dogs are not ment to spend hours outside. What if it's hot? She is correct and has every right to be concerned where her dogs are placed. If you are not a good fit of she is not comfortable with your household, then I'm sure there is another match out there waiting for you to save them.

I filled up the application and I received a one-liner response: "he is gone". I asked for a different dog and the answer was "gone too". I believe my application was a disaster, because I had no clue of what you are supposed to do with a dog and I wrote what I thought we would do. After researching the topic, I can see why they would not consider us for adoption with that application ;-) However, I wrote back asking to speak with them to understand why they did not spend more than a second to reply (I was looking for some suggestions on if we are ok to adopt or if we should not even bother). They never answered. I guess they are great with dogs but have a problem with humans.

I have known Odessa for years and have so much respect for her incredible personal commitment to dog rescue. Most of the dogs 'roam' freely in her house, learning to get along with other dogs and with people. Puppies (and moms) stay in the puppy palace (a charmingly converted and furnished garage space). Rescuing and adopting dogs is very hard and very expensive work, since many dogs who were neglected or abused require a lot of love, medical care, and training. Please take any 'negative' reviews with a big grain of salt. All of us who have to deal with the public understand how unreasonable and uncharitable some people can be. This is a truly extraordinary woman who makes great sacrifices to rescue and place dogs in the best possible homes. It's an uphill battle with so many people allowing their dogs to breed and dumping them on rescue. And with some adopters/lookers who can be disrespectful of the process around placing dogs. Very few of us could do this work day in and day out with no reward other than seeing dogs go to the right guardians. Thank you to everyone who supports and adopts from rescue, saves lives, and appreciates those doing the really hard work. And please consider fostering a little dog if you can. It's a rewarding experience being part of the pipeline to forever homes.
