Good genuine place nothing more special than people who live to train and leave the ego at the door.

I visited Mad Tiger on a weekday gi class and am impressed - Prof Eric and three of his awesome students (2x blue, 1x brown belt) welcomed me with open arms. The instructions from Prof Eric were situationally based that I could easily relate and practice. Rolling followed and you can easily assess the quality of the gym and instructor by the way students roll, especially with an out of town visitor - they practiced restraint and control, instead of cranking down to execute a submission (where injuries can occur) or using unscrupulous (i.e. butthole) techniques, ensuring everyone was able to have a good grappling session. Located in a converted warehouse in a residential area, close to Wheeler Army Airbase (Wahiawa), MTA has the vibe of an old school academy with a great professor and students. I know where I'll be visiting when I travel to Hawaii.

From day one, both the students and the kickboxing coach Kurvon made me feel genuinely welcomed. As a longtime fan of Christian Lee, walking into this gym took courage (he's a two-time world MMA champion with ONE Championship) but it instantly felt like the right decision. Supportive, humble, and high-level energy all around. Prodigy training center has a wide-range of students, from competitive fighters to kids, young, & older adult hobbyists (like myself). They also have Merch for sale & a cafe on the first floor as well for guests to wait while their kids partake in class.

Everything from the facility, equipment, community, staff members and coaches makes you more eager to come back daily. The facility and equipment is second to none. Having a downstairs gym for members to use, while upstairs, multiple training mats and rings and a variety of equipment to utilize while you train helps set their gym apart from others. They also offer quality equipment and apparel to purchase. From the sign up day I've felt welcomed, the sense of camaraderie and tight knit community makes it family friendly and always a pleasant experience. The staff members do a great job handling any questions and concerns you may have, making either starting or continuing as a member that much easier. Again making you feel welcomed. Each coach and trainer is not only more than qualified at teaching their martial art but, carries passion and love for the sport which I appreciate. You are able to join at any type of personal experience level, beginner through professional and benefit because of the standard they set to encourage growth physically and mentally. Lastly, if not clear already 10/10 would recommend for any future members, family members, and friends. Truly a great experience!

Sure there are bigger, fancier schools out there, but pound for pound, this gym is packed with so much talent it is busting at the seams! Ron "The Machine Gun" Jhun and his wife Kim, teach most of the classes, but if they are not around there are experienced fighters like Niko Vitale, Harris Sarmiento, or Russell Doane, just to name a few, that can pitch in to teach a class. What gives this gym a 5 star rating is not only the talent, but the ohana that is so much a part of this place. The whole Jhun family trains there and when you join the gym they take you under their wing too. They will train you hard, but will also watch out for your safety. Although these fighters can knock my head off, they have the self control to avoid sending me to the hospital (thank God!) Injuries are part of this sport, but there are surprisingly few at 808FF. This is in large part due to the guidance of the Jhun's, AND the control of the fighters. Parking is on the street. There are no signs, so use your GPS and look for a yellow brick 2 story warehouse-like building with a garage on the first floor and a driveway going to the 2nd floor (don't drive up the driveway - park on the street!). The gym is above the garage on the end. Mondays and Wednesdays Boxing/kickboxing and Tuesdays and Thursdays Grappling/Pankration. Fridays is all the above. (I think? - Haven't been to the Friday class in months) Adult classes start at 6pm. Advanced classes start at 7pm, Keiki classes are at 5pm
